I don’t know how you can mess up something has simple as cheese dip, but it was gross and watery. I got the tacos and they had at least two ounces of grease in it. Not good. At all.

Eaten here many times. Went again tonight for my boyfriend’s birthday with some friends and had another great experience. The food has always been really good. The service has gotten much better since they’ve been open longer. They have an amazing stout selection. And the restaurant itself is gorgeous. It’s our go-to. Would definitely recommend/take any of my loved ones here.

Came in on a Saturday night around 5pm and our party of 6 was sat right away! Our server was with us right away and we very friendly and helpful in going over their drink menu. They have an extensive beer selection, and she encouraged me to try sample any of the beers I was considering. I ended up getting a chai stout and my boyfriend got the house old fashioned, which was made with Mezcal instead of whiskey. It was an interesting take on an old fashioned, but a little syrupy tasting. We got an order of guacamole as an appetizer, which was delicious! For dinner we had tacos. I tried a fish & a brisket taco, while my boyfriend tried a fish, brisket & a chicken taco. All of the tacos were great, my favorite being the fish. Overall it was a great meal and a good experience, the menu was unique and had something for everyone.

I had one of the worse experiences that I have experience at a restaurant in a long time. Saturday night at 600pm is always a busy time in Nashville for restaurants and I understand that and can understand when I am told an hour to an hour and half. However, what was frustrating is that they had the patio completely open for nearly 40 minutes waiting on a party of 20, who didn’t show up, let me repeat that 40 minutes. On top of that in the dining room there were two parties of 12 in which we stood there for 25 minutes while those tables sat empty the entire time, 25 minutes. Another table sat open for 20 minutes for a party of 8, in which only 4 people arrived and we still didn’t see the rest of their party 20 minutes later. Manager kept telling us the party was here, but then recanted that he was just told that by his hostess staff. The waiters and waitresses were complaining that their tables weren’t being sat because of all these parties. That hurts a servers money earned not sitting customers for that length of time which is why they were complaining. | The staff(hostesses and manager) here have no idea how to plan and organize seating for their patrons. You do reserver three parties of 12 or more at the same time. If the complete party is not there 15 minutes after there reserve time, then they lose their reservation. Also, allow reservations for parties of two or more too. They have to understand there are regular customers that don’t have those large parties and they will have to wait a little longer to have such a large party. Word of advice, they only take reservations for parties of 8 or more. So make a reservation for 8, and you can get your party of four when you arrive to have a seat. Not sure about the food, since we really just ordered appetizers since we waited so long. We had to eat those so quickly that we really didn’t get time to enjoy the food.

I live right down the road from Butchertown Hall so I’ve been a lot and have tried a lot of different things. I love their burger, Brussels sprouts, guacamole, queso, meats and tacos. Pretty much everything. They have the best happy hour I have found. Cheap drinks and food with a great selection. You can get queso, guacamole and salsa for 10 $ when the queso is normally $ 9 dollars itself at dinner time. The atmosphere is amazing and very well decorated. I love the outdoor area, I attended a rehearsal dinner there!

My review is limited to the happy hour. I met a couple of friends there yesterday, and we had a fantastic time. The décor is beautiful– high ceilings, reclaimed wood and moss details, very clean and pleasing. The tables are comfortably spread apart so you don’t feel cramped. The happy hour menu is awesome! There are a couple signature tequila or mezcal cocktails with delicate ingredients, and all of their TN beer is $ 3. They have a huge craft beer selection and offer tastes if you’re not sure what you want. Almost all of it is on tap. My favorite part was the happy hour food. We tried the guacamole and trio of salsas. All of it was outstanding– lots of zesty lime, cilantro, fresh jalapeño, and smoked tomatoes. The pico de gallo was out of this world. They both came with house-made tortilla chips, which were fantastic. Between the three of us, we were not able to finish all of this, even though we noshed on it all for almost two hours. I also ordered the tacos, you get 2 tacos with rice and beans for $ 7. I tried the chicken and veggie tacos(you can mix and match, there was also a brisket option). The veggie taco was piled high with all kind of vegetables, some of which tasted to have been pickled. It was so flavorful and fresh. The chicken taco was likewise enormous and tasty. The pinto beans(not mashed) were very fresh, as was the rice. I wasn’t able to finish all of this food, and it was such a good deal! I also tried a house made soda, the ginger tamarind. It wasn’t too sweet at all, nor was the ginger too spicy. It was refreshing and delicious! In short, this is an awesome place to grab happy hour and fill up on delightful food.

First of all, this place is a sleek, hipster paradise. High ceilings, wood beams, indoor plants, etc. As someone that doesn’t eat meat(I do eat fish), I was pleasantly surprised that the restaurant had several vegetarian options! I tried the grilled kale Caesar salad and a side of Mexican street corn, but they had several other non-meat options: guacamole, coal-fired artichokes, grilled oysters, romaine salad, ash-fired squash soup, veg or fish tacos, vegetable rice bowl, smoked provolone sandwich, and sides. I enjoyed my salad and side, and I tried someone’s veggie rice bowl and enjoyed that as well! Lesson: vegetarians and pescatarians — do not be afraid of Butchertown! Since it is a meat-centric restaurant, I should mention that my boyfriend loved his very meaty sandwich(I can’t remember which sandwich he tried, just that he really liked it). The drink list(including beers and cocktails) looked amazing. We had a dry lunch — but I was dying to try a lot of drinks on the menu!!! I would definitely go back! What a cool place! And a great meal!

Wow. I was blown away by my experience at Butchertown Hall! First off, the atmosphere is really quite beautiful. The building feels like a renovated home on the inside(might be?), very comfortable, not overly loud. Very upscale. We sat at the bar first. After watching their bartenders, they are very well-trained, highly proficient and make wonderful drinks. The menu is filled with designed cocktails that I have never seen before! I had a very unique drink that combined a Stout beer with rum and«piña colada-style» flavors. It was really delicious! We went to our table once it was ready. Onto our food, I got brisket with a side of sweet corn. Oh my goodness. I’ve had some great BBQ both all over Texas and in St Louis and this was GREAT brisket. As tender as it gets. Slightly spicy BBQ sauce on the side; it was amazing. There were so many food offerings that I wanted to try, I’m going to HAVE to go back. I really wanted to try the Chorizo and the tacos especially. I have every reason to go back. If you’re visiting Nashville, make a pit stop here. It is sure to not disappoint!

A new spot for hangout. Located in a newly building area of Nashville. Wasn’t sure if there was any parking but we just parked alone the side of the rd. A nicely decorated atmosphere. Had dinner here with a few friends. Had great service no complaints. She got our food and drinks out in a timely manner. I had the brisket and fish tacos loaded with meats. Brisket was a bit too salty for me but I would come back and try other things here.

Pretty expensive for just okay. We split the pork/apple sausage with texas toast(sausage was a little dry), 2 tacos(we ordered chicken and brisket but got brisket and pork by mistake), a caesar salad, and each had a couple beers. The accidental pork taco was the best thing we got. I will say, the tortillas are homemade and delicious, but you can get those elsewhere for a lot cheaper. Atmosphere is nice, but food isn’t good enough to make a second trip. We sat outside and there are some nice tables for larger parties, but we got seated at a cheaply made table that wobbled the entire meal. Same for the chairs. Beer was the best part! Bill was $ 56 plus 10 dollar tip for a couple tacos, small salad, sausage and some beers.

Guacamole was a $ 5 steal. My main course was the half chicken, which was a little dry. Wasn’t super impressed by the sauce that came with it(luckily it came on the side) and was slightly confused by whether to wrap the chicken in the tortilla shells. Friend had the brisket, which was smoked well on the Texas Trinity though there was too much bread. Ambience was stellar, and meals were filling for a reasonable price.

Came for happy hour and had a great time! I loved the cocktail menu, which offers something for everyone(especially tequila lovers). The charcuterie plate needed more bread, but our server offered to give us more chips for our queso(which was hot cheesy perfection). The space is roomy, gorgeous and looks brand new! Lots of outdoor seating. I wish I could have tried some entrees but you can only eat so many meals in Nashville!

2.5 I didn’t get it. I didn’t get the effusive praise of some of the 5-star reviews. Unfortunately, my experience ran more along the lines of the majority of reviews. I don’t know what’s off here, but things are not clicking. Wait. I do know what’s off. Well, some of what’s off. Product: My party came here on a Sunday night around 7. During the course of our stay, multiple dishes were no longer available. They were out of turkey. They were out of brisket. Heck, they were out of brownies. I don’t understand why and how you can be out of so many various items on the menu. For a restaurant of this size and at this time of night during service, it doesn’t make sense. Having to go with a third or fourth choice of item leads to a frustrating experience that many aren’t willing to give another chance. When it came to the items we were able to taste, it was a mixed bag. To begin with, my daiquiri was painful. I know the description lists black pepper as an ingredient. For that reason, I wasn’t going to order it. Our server, however(more on him in a bit), pushed the drink on me, downplayed the pepper qualities and spoke of the popularity of the libation. It was horrible. It was not at all suitable to my tastes. It was like drinking warm mezcal with black pepper. Any fruit notes were lost on me. Terrible. The papas bravas were boring. I was never asked how I wanted my burger and received a medium VERY rare patty to choke down. Given the service issues(coming), I decided to deal with it rather than send it back. The brussel sprouts were a better option and the beans were very good. Service: It’s been mentioned time and again as an issue here. I don’t know why the front of the house isn’t addressing this. It’s been proven that people will go back to an establishment with okay food but good service but will rarely ever patronize a restaurant with stellar food and horrible service. As of my experience, the food quality did not make up for the forgettable, dismissive experience we had. As I mentioned, my group came here on a Sunday night. We did not have reservations. At the time, such weren’t a possibility. We waited for 45 minutes and were seated up front by the kitchen, rather than in the belly of the restaurant. Oh well. I came to the restaurant with a friend from college who was contemplating moving back to Nashville from NYC. I brought her and her husband here in an attempt to convince her the move was a good choice. She’s still in NYC. Our server was dismissive, inattentive and condescending — from the very beginning. His behavior made no sense. Water was hard to come by. He didn’t explain the menu or how plates were coursed. He talked over our decisions and talked us in to plates we weren’t quite sure about. He didn’t ask about allergies. He never inquired how we wanted meat items prepared. He paid no attention to service requests(say, bringing my beer out to the table with my burger; he brought my beer during a lull in the service so by the time by medium rare burger came to me, my beer was half-consumed and warm). Ultimately, he did nothing to add to the dining experience and, in fact, detracted from it. It was a frustrating experience for the table and an embarrassing one for me(since I suggested the debacle of the evening). I didn’t get it.

This is a bit out of the way. At least it seems that way to an out of towner. However the restaurant is very tasteful and walking in, it smelled incredible. The hostess wasn’t the nicest. Not rude but not really welcoming. As I was traveling salon she suggested I sit at the bar. It was full. I opted for an outside seat as it was beautiful. The waiter, Kevin, made several suggestions for food and drinks. I love local beer and they had a cask option. The waiter made sure I was familiar with cask beer. That is a nice touch for those unfamiliar. I got the Black Abby Oak Aged Champion on cask. It was awesome. Buttery with diacetyl. Warming. The oak was present but not astringent or overwhelming. Ok that’s enough of the beer snob talk. I ordered the queso con chorizo and the pork carnitas with the tortillas. The carnitas was excellent BUT this is not true carnitas. It is tender and smoky. This is pulled pork. In fact it even comes with BBQ sauce. It is some great smoked pig but don’t expect traditional carnitas. The tortillas were handmade, thick, soft and chewy. They were flour tortillas. While I prefer corn, these were excellent. I also got the queso con chorizo. Nothing special. It didn’t blow me away but it was tasty. It was very runny. That is my chief complaint. If it was thicker I probably would have liked it better. I was conflicted on the rating because as BBQ pork this is excellent, but as carnitas it isn’t true to style or what I expected.

I don’t know how I feel about this place. I came here for the first time this weekend. It is a marriage of Mexican/German food and it is pricey. Loved the building itself. It’s huge and nicely decorated, there’s plenty of seating… we didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes for a spot. There is a ton of outdoor seating as well, which is great when the weather is nice. When it comes to the service, I honestly wasn’t impressed. It was slow — we had to constantly ask for water, our cocktails took forever, we didn’t have silverware, waitress had a slight attitude… yada yada yada. Anytime we asked for something, it seemed like we were annoying her. Here’s the thing, if you don’t like working with people or in the restaurant industry: don’t. You end up making the meal miserable for the patrons. The food was good! We ordered some appetizers: queso, brussel sprouts, porchetta, and pork belly. We LOVED our appetizers — they were amazing. For the actual meal, we ordered kielbasa, brisket, double burger. I can’t remember what the 4th person ordered but everyone loved their choice except me. The kielbasa tasted like chorizo — so I’m not sure if she screwed my ordered up or if the chef purposely creates the kielbasa to taste like that… I hated it, which was a bummer because I was stoked to eat some kielbasa. I did try the burger and brisket — those choices were delicious. Highly recommend ordering the brisket if you come here. I probably won’t be coming here for a meal again but will likely come for drinks and appetizers.

If you want phenomenal smoked food, check it out. It’s a limited foodie style menu, but it’s out of this world. Check out one of their margaritas, beer cocktails, or one of their Italians wines. It’s nice to finally see a restaurant that offers a house wine that isn’t Australian or Californian! Ok, but we all need to stop for a second… EVERYONE needs to check out their Brussels Sprout, they are off the hook! And trust me I’m a Brussels sprouts pro! Brisket is off the chain, off the chain like fiddy cent… That’s what the cool kids call him right??? Anyways, try it out; it’s hipster, it’s casual, it’s germantown … You can’t go wrong ;)

I recently enjoyed a girl’s lunch at Butchertown Hall. The décor is really so fresh and inviting, with fun photos to look at on the walls that all celebrate a piece of Nashville’s history(something I’ve grown to appreciate). Our server was so nice; I only wish I could remember her name! But truly, she was a delight and had great thing to say about the menu and was very knowledgeable about the food. The menu itself is lacking a lot of detail. Not the food on the menu, but the actual wording and descriptions. The foods listed often did not include some of the important details and left out large portions of ingredients. Our server had to tell us on a few different menu items that we asked about what exactly came on that. For instance, the Nachos are described as «nachos borrachos — pickled peppers and onions». They were actually house made fried flour tortilla chips, topped with borrachos beans, a white queso, and finished with pickled peppers and onions. Also, I ordered the«grilled street corn» which is how it was listed on the menu; the server replied with«oh ok, the elote», almost as to correct me. I would have happily called it elote if it was on the menu that way. Not a huge deal, just some consumer feedback :). The food was good. The grilled street corn/elote was delicious. Buttery, limey, cheesy goodness. The nachos were also good, but the brisket topping them was really was something special. Friends ordered the chips and salsa basket, and I sampled all three salsas. There was a roasted tomato(I think?) salsa that was tasty, and the other two were good as well. The tacos were nice, but not better than tacos from other favorite spots around the city. I’d go back, just perhaps next time for dinner. I hear rumors of some killer brussels sprouts!

The food here is amazing. A couple of minor complaints, but still giving it 5 stars based off how good the food and service was as well as the nice ambiance/atmosphere. We ordered a couple of their cocktails and handcrafted sodas that were absolutely amazing, top notch and for a decent price. The only complaint that is important to note is that while they have an amazing beer and tequila options, there is only one vodka option, no bourbon option, no rum option and a very mediocre wine list. The bartender was very nice and helpful though and we decided to grab an actual table after looking at their dinner menu as we originally were just coming for drinks. A very nice guy came to our table and explained the menu and we ordered the rack of ribs which were cooked to perfection, the bone in pork chop, and a couple of their in house prepared sausages. Perfect and amazing on all counts with it being the best pork chop and chorizo I’ve had in my life with the only complaint being the vegetables that was served with the pork chops. I don’t recall what they were, but they were bitter beyond belief… but if you are coming to Butchertown Hall to eat vegetables, you are doing it very wrong. The only thing that took away from the actual meal is how close our table happened to be to the next table. This wouldn’t be too big of deal unless you take into account the fact that so many Nashvillians are Obeast Hamplanets. Couple the already too close tables where you couldn’t really have a private conversation with someone with someone being inches away from you can be rather annoying. Again, all of these are minor complaints that have to be noted, but weren’t enough to take away from the amazing food and service. Will definitely be coming back regularly.

This is a new Nashville eatery. The food is prepared in an open kitchen with all hand-crafted simple but delicious recipes. They host a full bar. You can order full/half from the butcher menu, sandwiches, or tacos a la carte. Be sure to check out their desserts too, they look divine. We always try to eat local and we are thankful our friends recommended this place for lunch.
