Look, here me out on 5 stars. This is like walking back intime, the burgers are killer, as are the onion rings, but what slays me is simple. The old-school milkshake flavors are worth the trouble of getting out of your car. Anywhere that serves a legit, 10 out of 10 pineapple milkshake has me at hello.

Nashville classic spot with good service. They don’t need my advice to keep it coming.

Just had the hot fudge cake it looked horrible to begin with no love when made. Than I tasted the cake and it tasted old and dry. One bite and went in the trash. My sweet snack sucked

It was okay for the most part… but needed more options for ice cream instead of vanilla and chocolate

Fantastic food. Went out of our way to come here for dessert after grabbing lunch somewhere else, and it did not disappoint. Reasonably priced, delicious food, and great atmosphere(they have sidewalk chalk for the kids to all play with while they wait). Not fast service, but well worth the wait.

Bobbie’s Dairy Dip will always be a summer favorite. I grew up going here and they never disappoint with my vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. Yummy to my tummy!

I love Bobbie’s! My mom grew up coming here and so did I. I recently went for my birthday and it totally satisfied my craving for nostalgia. This is a Nashville classic… it’s nothing fancy. Burgers are decent with fresh fixin’s, fries are good, but I come for the banana split and other novelties. Check it out!

I grew up in Sylvan Park and have been coming to the Dairy Dip for 20 years. They have expanded the outdoor seating and added to the menu, but it is still true to the original and classic look and feel. Ain’t nothing fancy and we like it that way. Delicious shakes, malts, sundaes, soft serve, you name it. Would definitely go elsewhere for dinner(Nashville has such wonderful options now!) but they do have fried food and burgers if you want more than dessert.

I had high hopes for Bobbie ’ s and presume we hit it on a down moment. The menu looks awsome and the vibe is defiently old school burger/ice cream shop. The outside seating is covered, clean and comfortable. I got the double cheese burger. Everything was fresh and good except for the burgers which were dry and seemed like they had been sitting around for awhile before being served. I also got the wrong shake. My dinning partners seemed happy so I am willing to accept that mine was the anomalous experience. If based solely on my order it would be a 2 star rating. But the old timey vibe and service earns a benefit of the doubt bump.

I’ve been dying to check out this place since I arrived to Nashville and was very disappointed. I heard many people say how good this place was but it did not live up to the hype. My husband and I went on a Sunday — the line wasn’t too long but we had a few minute wait. We got cheeseburgers, fries, and a chocolate dipped cone. The burgers tasted like something you would get at a high school basketball game concession, it was dry and flavorless. The ice cream was nothing out of the ordinary, it can be compared to the soft serve at DQ or McDonalds. The atmosphere/outdoor seating was pretty awful — trash all over the ground, the garbage bins near by rotting in the sun to smell while you eat, not appealing. It wasn’t great, it wasn’t cheap, and a pretty unpleasant experience. Skip the wait and the heat for an alternative.

Get the Memphis speciality shake. Banana, bacon, chocolate. Amazing. They were even kind enough to give me a bowl of water for my dog.

I visited Bobbie’s for the first time a few days back and was very pleased. It is located on Charlotte Ave and if you blink you would miss it. It is adjacent to Hattie B’s if that helps anyone. In my mind it is your typical Mom n Pop ice cream place. Nothing fancy just good ice cream. There is a little bit of a wait but I did not feel that it was excessive. I ordered a raspberry shake and it hit the spot. It was not overpowering on the raspberry flavor and the thickness and consistency of the shake was perfect. On a side note, shout out to the server who went along with my joke of giving my name as Batman. Not only did she roll with it but she took it to the next level and even played the old Adam West batman theme song when announcing my order. It was awesome to respond to NANANANANANANANANA Batman with the theme music playing. Well played fair maiden, well played.

It’s a little too slow for my tastes. We decided to take the little one Sunday to grab her first Dairy Dip, and a line of five people in front of us ended up with me and a toddler watching YouTube for about 13 minutes, playing a cat game for another five at least, and then the order of plane Jane ice cream finally was handed to my wife. The toddler had forgotten why we were there at this point, and so had I. At least a twenty minute delay for an ice cream, it better be the best in the world, and it wasn’t. It never is. It’s good, but it’s not anything to wait for in 80 degrees and insect infested sticky table world. This isn’t an abnormality, at least not for my visits. It’s always extreme waits and a letdown. You have to ask for napkins, which means you have to flag down someone who’s busting ass to serve the short line of people and have them hand you one through the window. The tables always seem like they were washed a day or two ago and the stick has just got it in for them. I don’t remember the things I’ve gotten in the past, it’s always been a somewhat meh experience. This last time, which I seriously want to be my last interaction with this place as I keep getting dragged here by others, was an absurdly large oreo with ice cream as the filling. How could it go wrong? Meh ice cream in the middle, 20+ minute wait, napkin nazis, fly attacks, bathroom issues. Every time I go I hear it exclaimed as though it’s an ice cream Mecca, and I wish it were. But you can’t have cones and premade stuff taking nearly half an hour to scoop and come out the window. There’s just a lack of something here for me. Maybe it’s that the place should be called Bobby’s Food Place as my ice cream experiences don’t hold up to the love some people express for this place. Maybe I should also just avoid going at 4pm on a random Sunday afternoon.

Best ice cream in Nashville! Chocolate dipped vanilla is a classic. My wife loves the chocolate soft serve. This is a great place to end a night after a spicy, hot chicken feast at Hattie Bs. I’ve not partaken of the food here, but it always looks and smells good. If you’re going the cone route, the medium is not for the faint of heart or the lactose intolerant. Grab ya some ice cream!

4.25 I’m a big fan of Bobbie’s Dairy Dip. Who wouldn’t/couldn’t be? This is 1950s Nashville/America at its best. And, when that best comes in the form of burgers, shakes and kitsch, I’m all in! This is a fat kid’s paradise! And what’s more American than fat kids? Located at the edge of Sylvan Park, Bobbie’s Dairy Dip is exactly what it sounds like: a 1950s burger and ice cream stand that’s lasted from the days of James Dean to the age of the Kardashians. That’s a lot of Americana to have witnessed and survived but survived it has and any Nashvillian worth his/her salt owes it to him/herself to come here and pig out. Yes, the hours depend on the weather and whims of the workers. Yes, there will likely be a line. Yes, seating can be scarce but none of that matters. You spend $ 15 on cocktails. Relax. Have some ice cream. In fact, use the time that you’re standing in line to go over the menu because that bad boy is extensive. You’re not going to want to make a rash decision. You’re going to want to order carefully and you’re going to want to have your mind made up. There’s a line full of people behind you who don’t want to wait and there’s a woman behind the window who doesn’t have time for you not to know what you’re doing. I used my wait time to vacillate between burger, side and shake choices. I came up with a winner but there are many more permutations I need to try.* I chose the Guac Burger, side of onion rings and the Chuck Berry shake. The burger is a thing of creamy beauty: beef patty, cheese, guacamole, salsa, tomato, onion, and jalapenos. It also comes with sour cream but you know homey don’t play that. The most awesome thing about the burger is that you can enjoy it for a fraction of the cost of a fancier burger joint… and you’re eating the same burger. My onion rings were, decidedly, not of the fancy variety. These harkened backs to the days of grade school. They were… okay. I should have gone for the fries. Go for the fries. You know what? Scratch that. Go for the *cheese* fries. To wash it all down, the Chuck Berry. I think most, if not all, of the shakes have a ‘50s-era name. It’s a nice touch. My shake had a vanilla base and was a delicious blend of blueberry, raspberry and strawberry. It sounds basic. It tastes wonderful. You can’t mess with the classics. On my next visit, I am going chocolate. I ate my bounty outside on a park bench and watched the fun blend of humanity that descended on this small patch of Charlotte on a mid-autumn night. From young to old, all different races, colors and creed… everyone was lined up to get a burger and shakes. It was nice to see and even better to think about as I filled my belly with good times. Bobbie’s is a Nashville treasure. Take part. *Heaven help my boyish figure.

This is my favorite spring/summer haunt in Nashville. Today, I went by Bobbie’s Dairy Dip on a whim to grab lunch before an afternoon meeting. I was quickly reminded just how much I love this place and am thankful for the authentic throwback atmosphere and love they put in to their food. All of the seating is outdoors at Bobbie’s and they usually have some sort of fun music playing. Pro-tip-If you go on a rainy day, there’s very little wait and it’s pretty neat to sit there and listen to rain pelt off the roof. For the food, my favorite(and I’m in the minority here) is to get the Black Bean Burger. It’s just SO good! The Black Bean Burger comes with the usually veggies plus guacamole and salsa. You can tell the burger itself is homemade and fresh and crispy off the grill. Next, the fries. Their fries are phenomenal. They aren’t the equal of Riverside Grillshack but are very close. Fresh-cut potato fries fried crisp with sea salt makes them a nice treat at any time. The ice creams are great, too, but today I just wanted a Black Bean Burger and Fries and left very happy. Pros: You can’t find a better summer throwback in Nashville than Bobbie’s. Their burgers and fries are awesome. I particularly like the Black Bean Burger. Cons: Not good for the cold weather season. Overall: This is a great option over on the west side of town. Once it gets warm out, you should flock to Bobbie’s ASAP for some great Burgers, Fries, and Shakes as well as some surprising fresh alternatives like the Black Bean Burger.

I had their chocolate dipped ice cream on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It was very delicious. Their service was great. They offer a wide variety of ice cream flavor. I also heard that their burgers and sweet potato fries are worth to try. Ill definitely come back here again.

You know how sometimes you are driving by the sketchy used car dealerships on Charlotte Ave., and you think to yourself, «Oh, this is just like a lovely day at the beach»? Me neither. However, every time I go to Bobby’s Dairy Dip, I find myself transported back to long days at Hampton Beach, when I all I needed to experience ultimate contentment was a beach stand serving hot dogs and ice cream. Looking entirely out of place in its surroundings, Bobby’s offers that same laid-back beach feeling that I so enjoyed as a child. The food is not gourmet. It is hot dogs. It is fries. It is most especially milkshakes(with the Barney Rubble and Ali Baba being particular favorites). It is everything that your cardiologist just told you not to consume. But while it is not gourmet, it also makes no attempt to be. Bobby’s knows exactly what it is, and embraces it with all the glorious pinkness of walls. It is a beach shack that just happens to be located 500 miles away from the nearest beach.

Good ice cream, but not really worth the hype. Atmosphere: Perfect for warm days & a Nashville tradition. However, there is an overall feeling of grime… I feel like everything needs a good power wash and some paint touch-ups.(I’m all for keeping the integrity of the original building, but it’s getting pretty sad looking.) Wait: Honestly, it’s just too long during the day. I know they make a lot of burgers and meals to order, but there should be a 2nd line just for ice cream. We stood in line for about 30 minutes for 2 ice cream cones & a strawberry short cake. I really don’t care to wait so long in a hot parking lot by a stick trashcan for ice cream that’s not amazing. Food: Tasty & big portions. The cones are large & the sundaes perfect for sharing. However, I keep trying to get one of their lauded ice cream sandwiches, but after 2 – 3 tries of them being sold out by noon(who’s eating ice cream for breakfast?), I’m grudgingly giving up on trying one. Overall: A good place with history in Nashville, but not anything outstanding.(Maybe the burgers and meals are where they shine, but I haven’t tried any yet.) *Also, they are now open all year, but you have to check on a day-to-day basis if they’re open.
