I love Aldi, but not this one. I came in for white mushrooms and zucchini, and guess what they were sold out of? Plus a bunch of other stuff. The floors were dirty and both cashiers obviously did not like their customers or their jobs. Still had bargains, but not worth the attitude.

I understand the idea of Aldi is less options & off brands to keep the cost down. I’m cool with that. But a lot of the items here aren’t that much cheaper than a market pantry brand(Target) or a Kroger brand item. It is nice to be able to run into a smaller size store to get what you need, but it’s not every fast when they have 2 cashiers working on a Saturday afternoon. I do have to say that their bbq kettle chips are GREAT. Are they worth the wait in line that takes 15 minutes? No. I guess I’m just more suited to buy in bulk at Costco.

Best place to buy groceries when on a budget. Everything is affordable here. This store beats Walmart and all dollar stores. I am glad i discovered ALDI. Only drawback, it is a tiny location, hence looks overcrowded no mater what time of the day you show up. Parking lot is good and spacious. Returns are kind of tricky because they need your original purchase receipt.

This is an update. I had to go from 4 stars to 2 stars because this just isn’t the same place as it was when I first started shopping here. Most times there’s not enough registers open making the lines very long. The last several times that I’ve been in, the produce section is completely bare. I can’t hardly find anything I used to buy on a regular basis here anymore. I love Aldi’s but I’m not a fan of this location. I’ve also noticed they’ve hired a security guard for this location. Sometimes with the crowds and the way the shoppers act gives me a bit of a panic attack. While waiting in line one day I saw 3 adults with several children playing with a bunch of canned goods. I guess they got bored and wanted to see how high they could stack them? The whole display came crashing down and canned goods went rolling everywhere. Let me remind you that the ADULTS did this, not the children. Maybe if I need a quick gallon of milk or eggs I might send my husband in but I’m not going back to this location. My sanity is worth more than saving a few dollars.

Aldi is my main grocery store. It’s clean and neat inside. If you don’t mind a few off brand items you will like this store. The prices alone keep me coming through the door. They have the best prices in town for vegetables and fruit. I have gotten Tri-Color Peppers from Aldi for as low as 1.99. Broccoli and Cauliflower are as low as 99 cents during peak month. Eggs are sometimes 99 cents as well. I don’t buy boxed items. I mainly keep it to fresh items from Aldi. They carry Soymilk so that’s a plus for me too! The staff is nice and they are super fast checking you out. Bring your own bags or you will have to buy one. Also bring a quarter to get a basket. Such a genius ideas to keep the baskets out of the lot and hitting your cars.

Working in the entertainment industry means often starving and living in a fridge carton. Good thing I discovered the beauty of Aldi while I was a starving theater tech living in Chicago, and had the good fortune to wind up living right next to one upon moving to Nashville! Aldi is owned by the same company that owns Trader Joe’s. I have friends who don’t shop here because they think it’s a creepy mini-mart or what have you, but this is simply not true! Aldi has all the main foods you usually buy, mostly from brands you’ve never heard of. The difference is they’ve drastically cut out their overhead, so things are shockingly cheap. I mean, come on, $ 2 balls of fresh mozzarella? $ 1 for large cooking/backing spices? Doesn’t get much better! Occasionally they’ll have things you have heard of, like pop tarts or taco bell taco shells, all at a discounted price. Also they sometimes sell really cool things — I’ve seen above ground pools, fire pits, waffle makers, toys, and inflatable mattresses, to name a few To get a care here you need to put a quarter into a slot on the cart, releasing it from another cart., and you get it back when you finish shopping. Always bring your own bags, I think they charge you 10 cents for one of theirs(so expensive, I know!). The only con is that there are usually only two cashiers, so if you come on a weekend, expect to wait in a line for a little bit. Also if you’re looking for a very specific product, I’d stick to a regular grocery store — Aldi really only specializes in basic food items — you’re not going to find something like your very favorite greek yogurt here.

Before you go, bring a quarter, bring some re-usable shopping bags, and bring cash or a debit card. You’ll need the quarter if you want a shopping cart, bags in case you want bags although you can unload directly to your car. Aldi will get you an inexpensive, but fairly good limited selection of items. It’s not what I consider an entire grocery, but what it carries it carries for the best price in town as far as I can tell. Aldi, you can prepare entire meals no problem, but you’ll find sometimes there just aren’t things there you would expect. Even things that were there a few weeks before. I’m not sure what the deal is, but those things were replaced by new things and when these new things are gone there may be the other things. The store is good for snacks, breakfast, and dinner for 2 or 3 nights a week. You will need to hit another store occasionally for a bit more flavor, but even if you’re not counting dollars the savings can add up here. Eggs are the least expensive I’ve found in town(about half the price of Kroger last time I was there) cheese is cheap, and beans run 5−20% less. The downside is there are lines on Sunday, limited hours, limited staff on hand. So plan to hit the place when you’re not in a rush, or not on Sunday…

I am not a huge fan. They do carry a line of protein bars that I love so I stop in just to get those. It is very cheap and offer a wide array of products.

I’m not sure why I looked at the fairly well-kept building on Nolensville Road or passed the pretty nice façade on Gallatin Pike and always imagined dented cans, long lines of people on public assistance and rotting produce full of gnats, but I had a crazy friend who swore by the place full of ‘discount’ store brand only groceries and maybe that perpetuated the image I had given it in my head. Fast forward last week, perhaps actually the worst week of my life in which part I need to start saving money — sigh. I’ve never been rich, but huge bags of organic produce and Costco have never been off limits. Enter Aldi, dude you guys — its not so bad! I did have to say the first impression started slow. I had to find a quarter to use the cart, its their mechanism for having less stray carts in the lots, a .25 cent deposit. Weird, but effective. The store itself is 1. not smelly 2. pretty well organized 3. busy but fast moving, no nonsense lines 4. cleaner than my local Kroger(but not as pretty as Publix or Whole Foods) Some idea’s of the deals you can get: 12 eggs — .69 cents; 3 bell peppers(red, yellow, green) $ 1.49, cinnamon raisin bread $ 1.29, greek yogurt(single serving) .79 cents — yeah dawgs! It’s like couponing for people who do not have the time to coupon ;) Everything was a Aldi brand which was(and still is) a little gamble of ‘crap, is this going to be any good!?’ but honestly, and for the price, I have so far been fairly impressed with all the food. The knock off ‘baked BBQ lays’ I bought are really really good.($ 1.79), the mushroom ravioli(about 3 bucks, husband and I got 3 servings from a pack) was solid, the frozen fish was even alright for the price.(still love Costco for that, but price: goodness ratio was spot on) My produce was as fresh as Kroger or Trader Joes, but cheaper(no gnats!). The only thing thats been ‘meh’ is the 18 inch BBQ chicken pizza, I wasn’t too sad at the 5.99 price though. Be sure to bring your reusable shopping bags and get ready to bag your own bounty, they have a nice little counter and staging area to organize it though, its what makes the checkout line go quickly. An Aldi bag will cost you .6 cents, call it lame and cheap. I call it green ;) So my huge basket of groceries cost me 52 bucks. My general Kroger price being about $ 80 – 90 and Publix being around $ 100. I wont go into how much my Costco runs cost me ;) A little extra Aldi knowledge: its actually big in Europe! Tell your friends you aren’t cheap — you are worldy. Also, the brother team that owns Aldi also run a cult American favorite, thats right, Trader Joe’s!
