I visited this place for brunch on a Sunday at about 1pm. It was full and the wait would have been 5 – 10 minutes so we just sat at the bar. I ordered water and the Greek Omelet with egg whites and mom ordered OJ and two eggs with ham. We both got home fries and toast. The omelet arrived and it was pretty oily. Mom’s eggs were apparently the same. It tasted good, maybe a bit too many olives/sun dried tomatoes, not enough feta/spinach. The home fries were just french fries in a different shape. The toast was nice and toasty.(I have a huge pet peeve of toast that doesn’t arrive warm and the butter just sits there on it…) We finished our plates. The service was about average. The servings were about average too. Nothing to rave about, nothing to complain about(except all that oil). I’d go back because I’m really interested in the APA Omelet(asparagus, portabella mushroom, and artichoke). Price: $ 18+tip

Literally stumbled upon Caviston’s late this morning, starving. Since the waitress was new and couldn’t recommend anything in particular, I opted to keep it simple: bacon & eggs, home fries, and toast. Everything was pretty good, but on the boring side. Their home fries are literally fried potatoes; no spices, onions, peppers, etc. It was just a solid everyday breakfast. The only thing I tasted that was extraordinary was the gravy(a la biscuits & gravy). I stole some to spoon over my eggs to commence heart attack mode(«butter that bacon, son!»). The dining area was comfortable, and the people were nice. ESPN playing on a flatscreen didn’t hurt things. Basic breakfast fare, decent prices, no surprises.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner place in the heart of Narberth serves solid unpretentious food in a friendly neighborhood atmosphere with breakfasts especially good. The few outdoor tables in summer a pleasant way to spend the early part of a balmy evening. Salmon dinner specials very good. Reasonably priced.

Breakfast/Brunch — 4 ½ stars; Dinner — 3 ½ stars Caviston’s is a charming, family-owned BYO in the neighborhood of Narberth, about a block off of Montgomery Ave. It is definitely a locals kind of place — you go there and get to know the wait staff — whose friendliness more than offsets what is otherwise average service. Unless you’re willing to travel into the city on a weekend morning, you can’t do any better than Caviston’s brunch. I’ve tried most of their menu items and they are all excellent — nothing flash, just very tasty standards like omelettes, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, etc. The only very minor complaint I’d have is a lack of fresh-squeezed OJ. I can’t imagine a better compliment to a good breakfast than that! There’s nothing wrong with the dinner at Caviston’s, per se. In fact, we go there often. There’s just nothing outstanding about it. The french onion soup is good, as are the burgers. My fiancé loves the mushroom risotto. Just don’t go there expecting a 5-star meal and I doubt you’ll leave disappointed.

We were told the fish was very good here– probably the best thing on the menu. So I had salmon. It was average– came with spinach and mashed potatoes. However, I subsituted the mashed for green beans which never actually materalized. Just spinach. My starter salad was also average– smallish portion of lettuce with eggplant spead on four toast points. The spread was nice– a little bit of kick mixed in. My man ate them and he nodded as he chewed approvingly. His order– a portabello mushroom salad with black beans and corn — he liked but didn’t finish. His starter– cold cucumber and mango soup– he liked very much. My biggest problem with the place was not so much the average food but the service– very, very slllllooooowwww… It was hard to get the attention of one of the three waitresses handling all of 10ish tables(plus bus staff and runners). We waited a good 20 minutes to place our order and another 10 before drinks showed up. Getting refills was about the same. And the layour of the room feels compressed, the place is freakin loud, the crowd was 55plus on average, and it needs music or something. It’s not a relaxed place. We were able to hear word for word the conversation of the next table as they discussed back tattoos as splash pads-nice. Maybe breakfast is different. I’ll get back to you on that.

I’d only get one thing here, and that was the ham and egg sandwich. I know you can make it at home, but I just liked theirs. It’s big and fat and greasy and juicy. Very healthy breakfast. And the fries are pretty good too. Best way to start the morning. I saw the salads from there too. Very healthy looking with ham, cheese, turkey, 1000 island and all that wholesome goodness.

Haven’t been here in a while, but it was a must for Sunday brunch when I lived nearby. The place is small, so it pays to get there before 10:30 to beat the after-church rush. Otherwise you’re watching other folks eat and everyone in there will hear your stomach growling. Caviston’s does omelettes and other brunch fare right. The comfort food is available for dinner also, but I never made it there for that. It’s a cozy neighborhood place with a small lunch counter. They feature the work of local artists on the walls. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. Can’t speak to dinners there, but if you’re seeking a good, reasonably priced brunch in the ‘burbs, put this place on your shortlist.
