Peterson Wine Cellars

Came in for a wine tasting event with all my old co workers in Naperville! For 10 dollars each on a Friday evening at 7 PM it was pretty empty. A few people who seemed like loyal customers purchased wine.
Lots of wine and everything seemed organized and stocked. The sweet lady that was pouring our tastings was extremely intelligent in knowing about wine and pleasant to talk to.
This is located in a strip mall next to Trader Joes. It’s surprising that there is another one just 1.5 miles away in Downtown Naperville.

Was terribly unimpressed with the selection… half a shelf of whites? Really? And the only person working here was on the phone the entire time and did not acknowledge my presence. Clearly I was not worth talking to in the first place, if I like to drink white wine…

Like Van Morrison once sang…“So believe no lies, then dry your eyes and realize. That surprise.”
A wine shop, this holds much skepticism. Judging a book by it’s cover when approached you’re bound to think that what is inside is over-​priced, little selection and offers horrible service.
If you trust Van and his music, then trust Peterson Wine Cellars for knowing their wine. Of the three locations in Naperville, I made the jaunt into the downtown shop to see what was offered and check pricing.
Considering the size of the store itself, the selection is quite impressive. I would say that there is a wider selction of red wines than there are white with the mix of glasses and dining accessories. From Italy to Chile, Washington to California there are so many grapes that are covered to suit any mood or dining experience. For the US wines, you’re not going to find Kenwood or Mondavi here but you will find local Rutherford or Yakima Valley reserves. All for a well rounded price that is respectable and appreciated.
While looking over and trying to figure which Sauvignon Blanc to choose, I was asked if I had questions and of course I asked for the ever faithful yet hard to come across… Frascati. The woman who was working immediately knew what I was talking about and dug up from the back (I mean this literally, she went through boxes to get a single bottle) and handed it off to me. This is the kind of service that is valued and will bring a girl back for more.
At the register she told me the price of the Frascati ($ 7.99!!!) which was way cheaper than I’d figured so I snagged another bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Chile ($ 15.99). So the big surprise for Peterson’s was that the Gartner location carries a Napa favorite Frank Family Chardonnay. I seriously cannot wait to go snag a bottle!
