I finally procured the world’s most perfect pair of suede black wedges. And despite the 4−5″ heels, surprise!, I can walk in them. So I headed to Payless to pick up something to protect them from the harshness of rain and snow. The girl at the counter was friendly and plucked the $ 5 can from the shelf in seconds. She also offered me a 20% off coupon. Although I didn’t spend much, I appreciated the gesture. The store is clean, and the shoes are inexpensive. I tried on two pairs of ballet flats, but they weren’t very well constructed. Most of the shoes are a little bit left of stylish also. Overall, not bad, but not my favorite place.

I came into Payless on Memorial Day to get a pair of non-slip shoes for work. I walked in and headed straight down the aisle with my sizes, and started searching. Nobody asked me if I needed any help, probably because I didn’t, so no complaints there. There were a few families in the store aside from myself. I found an affordable pair of fairly comfortable shoes and headed straight to the register. Nobody was at the register, and after a minute of standing there, a girl on the phone came walking up to help me. She jabbered away on the phone the entire time she rang me up, talking about closing early and so on and so forth. I gathered from the conversation that she was speaking to somebody above her(a manager or someone of that relevance) and they were telling her they could shut down early, and she became excited and itchy to get out of work and enjoy the weather. Between the phone and another female employee that was there with her, she talked on and on about closing early and what have you in a very unprofessional way. She wasn’t directly rude to me, I just felt her conversations were unprofessional, and it is a pet peeve of mine to handle business while on the phone with someone other than a customer… even then — «could you please hold? Thank you!»…customer service isn’t really that hard… Also, the other employee asked the girl where a sandal was in the store because she couldn’t find it’s pair, and the girl on the phone asked her if she meant the flip flop on the floor over by aisle whatever and pointed out a shoe on the ground. Meaning she noticed it and was too lazy to tidy up. Another pet peeve. Because of the unprofessional vibe I got, I give this location a lower rating than I would like to.
