Chris and Sarah are the best. I moved into a new house with«barn» style garage doors that would either open or close but not both. They gave me input about new door and mechanism choices. So far, they were not unlike the other two companies from whom I’d received bids but their bid was a bit less than the others and so I chose to have them do my work. Then, they showed their stuff. They came out early on a weekend morning, as an accommodation to me. They expected the job to take about 3 or 4 hours. It ended up taking most of the day because the manufacturer had not sent all the required materials, requiring them to make trips to the hardware store to make up the difference. They never complained that there as someplace else they needed to be or that my job was annoying them. By the time they left, I had a marvelous new garage door, quiet, efficient, and now I was able to get the rest of my new home up and running because this garage door was vital to access to my home. What’s the big deal? They never changed their invoice to me for the extra time nor for the extra hardware, neither of which was their fault. They simply did the work necessary and remained true to their original bid. I was moved by their integrity and the commitment to customer satisfaction. Also, the manufacturer had not included the remotes for the door and Chris had to fit another visit in on another work day to bring the remotes by. North Berkeley is not exactly close to their home base so I appreciated the effort of working me into his schedule and not just putting the remotes in the mail. Then, recently, a glitch occurred with the track where Chris had affixed it to the wall. Chris immediately came out again, checked the situation, went to the hardware store to get the materials necessary to solve the problem, and repaired it. And again, he did this with no charge to me for his time or the cost of materials. On top of this, Chris and Sarah couldn’t be a more personable, kinder, enjoyable couple. They were always upbeat, pleasant and a joy to have around. Their integrity is to be valued and their workmanship should be experienced by others. I can’t recommend Cs Doors and Gates highly enough!

Another company put in my two garage doors years ago, but one was loud, jittery, and ended its close cycle with a BANG. Chris came by to check it out, «listened» to both garage door open and close and then found the loose cable on one side. He disengaged the main spring, tightened the loose cable, and reset the tension on the main spring and, to my surprise, adjusted the very end of the«close» cycle. Amazing. The door had always ended with a BANG as the door met the frame — now is stops just shy with a whisper. I could always hear and feel the garage door when in the house, now it is quieter than the furnace. Great job, and only about 25 minutes.
