As mentioned, the café is now just called«The Patch» after the service station /complex it’s located in, but the big Hollow Moon signs are still out front and around the building. Out in the Vernal area for work, I used Unilocal to help me find a decent place to eat, and I’d say I was generally pleased with the results. The menu seems to have been streamed down a bit from some of the other reviews, but still features a good selection of sandwiches, entrees, and burgers — including one burger made with meat from local cattle.(Sadly, they were sold out of the«Moon patties», or I’d probably have gone for that!) I ended up settling on their 12 oz ribeye special that night, and though the green beans were a bit disappointing(frozen, but style points for grilling them to give a bit of a flavor injection), the steak was nicely cooked and felt like the perfect meal after a long day working in the desert sun! They also offered a large desert menu, but I decided to behave — though the fresh made cinnamon rolls did look awfully tempting. In a larger area, this place would probably be a three star review based on the pretty basic amenities, mix of frozen and fresh ingredients, and a fairly basic(if well executed) menu, but this was, no joke, the best place I found to eat within 100 miles. An oasis in the desert, the welcome surprise is worth the extra star!
