As this 177-year old business is on limited time, this review really won’t matter to many… That being said, I was highly disappointed in how my family was treated on our visit today. Driving 20 miles out of our way, we stopped by to check out what they had featured in their«Going Out of Business Sale». We had our three children with us(oldest is 6, with twins at 3-and-a-half), and right away the staff turned their noses up when we walked in. My children are well-behaved, listen and do what they are told, and have never caused us any grief in stores. I guess the staff immediately considered them to be «hoodlums», as NOTONE of the sales folks even said«Hello» or «Welcome». We spent 20 minutes walking and browsing, as we were looking to furnish an entire living room… we even made it upstairs to look over their expansive collection of couches/chairs. Even upstairs, we were passed over time and again by the sales staff. After walking back downstairs, my wife and I called it a «loss» and took off. I looked back on the way out, and saw three salesfolks standing around each other, clipboards in hand, glaring at us. If you do not want children in your business, then either let us know up front when we walk in, or post a friggin’ sign. Ignoring a family with over $ 10,000 to spend is not good business. Setting the treatment aside, I do hate to see such a long-term family business go by the wayside, and they do have some very beautiful hand-crafted items(the usual suspect couches/chairs/bedding/bedroom furniture were all overpriced). But being ignored pretty much sealed their fate.
