Quality Men’s Haircut

After regularly getting my hair cut at cheaper salons like Great Clips and never having much of a complaint, I decided to treat myself and go for what seemed like it would be a higher quality haircut. However, after speaking with the stylist and confirming that I only want to trim the top of my hair by about half an inch, she ended up taking off 1 – 2 inches, leaving my hair much shorter than I wanted. She just seemed to keep cutting and cutting without asking to go shorter, and from my perspective I was just hoping it would turn out fine (I blame myself for being so naïve). Hair shampoo and massage was nice, but definitely will not make up for getting my haircut all wrong. Left pretty disappointed considering I paid $ 40 bucks for something that I expect to happen at a low quality salon. All I know is I can’t wait till my hair grows back and I won’t be back to this place.

I unfortunately had to reschedule twice with my regular haircutter in Santa Cruz and she was booked for the next 4 weeks. I was killing time on a Saturday and found this location on Unilocal.Tried calling but no one answered, but they left an outgoing message that you could book online on their website. I checked online, their site was simple and easy to use, but alas, they only showed appointments late in the day and I wouldn’t be available at that time. I just figured I’d try the next place or look like shaggy for a few more weeks. About 20 minutes after my original call, I got a call back on my mobile. The receptionist was calling me back to see what I was calling about. I let her know I checked online, but didn’t see anything available for the time I needed, but thanked for calling back. She repeated the time I found online, but told her I couldn’t work with that, so then she checked with the stylist and one was willing to take me in 45 minutes. I really appreciated the effort, so I said yes.
I found the place in a small strip mall. Parking is tight, but I got one of the last 2 spaces left. The crew was courteous and friendly. Kim was my haircutter. She asked only a few questions but confirmed everything I wanted and wasn’t offended when I asked her to cut it a little shorter. She pulled out all the tools and did a great job. The best part was the shampoo, where she massaged the lather in so long, I almost fell asleep. Someone else brought in a small child for a cut and the stylist next to kim was working really well with the child and getting lots of feedback from the father.
Nice people, resourceful, nice little shop, airy and clean and I was in and out in about 45 minutes. I may not be a regular as I have a place closer to home, I know I will be back.

Great place to get a haircut. It’s men only so you don’t feel like a second-​class citizen. I have been going there since it opened and Doris has been consistently good. It’s pricy for a haircut but affordable compare to other upscale saloons of similar quality. Appointments are a must and they are booked out weeks unless you’re willing to come during normal working hours. The Mexican restaurant next door is good also!

Really friendly service. Didn’t even know I spent 1 hour in there, it felt like 20mins. Gives great haircut. Although it might not seem like the haircut that you want in the first place, go home and experiment with it and you’ll actually get what you asked for. Would recommend to give this one a try.

Jackie does a great job with my haircut. It seems simple enough but it is attention to the details that make all the difference., and Jackie takes the time to make it perfect. This is also the difference between a hair salon cut and a barbershop cut. This is a proper barbershop cut.
Jackie is also great to talk with, a great asset for any barber.

I came here on the recommendation of a friend and was a little skeptical at first. I am not very good at describing what I want, and at the same time am very particular about how it looks in the end. That’s why I was so pleased when Doris was so attentive and responsive to my vague descriptions. She tried her best to interpret what I wanted, first making certain I was happy with the overall look and then paying very close attention to the details as she cleaned up. In the end, I got the best haircut I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be going back.

I’ve lived here for about 4 years now, and Quality Men’s Haircuts is the ONLY place I’ll go to get my haircut. Norly is the best and trust that I’ll always leave with a great haircut!

Came in and sat in the waiting area after seeing 3 stylists working and no one else in line. Another customer finished up after about 10 – 15 minutes, at which point his stylist informed me that they weren’t taking walk-​ins today, with a tone suggesting that I should have known better. Bad experience and waste of time.

I’m a big fan of this place. I’ve only had my cuts with Norly, but she’s been fantastic. She listens to what I want, and she also has suggestions ready when I request them. The place is clean, the service is great, and the haircuts are always exactly what I envision. It’s a great value, and I highly recommend this place.

Doris runs a tight ship — always on time — and Ann has always given me a great haircut. Everyone is very friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

This is THE place for a proper haircut. I normally shy away from hair salons and prefer barbers. I also prefer men cutting my hair (what can I tell you — Irish, 51, old fashioned!). Unfortunately the barber I used to go to in Los Altos retired and I was forced to find an alternative. After experiencing a ridiculous number of hair butchers and lawnmower men masquerading as barbers, I found this place. My first experience was today.
I made the appointment for 3:30pm. I arrived, was greeted warmly by one of the girls, who then had my hair washed, cut and dried in less than 45 minutes. The price wasn’t bad either at $ 30 plus tip. I was a little nervous because the girl cutting my hair seemed quite young but she did an excellent job, was very friendly and chatty. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name because she deserves a lot of credit.
The search for a decent haircutting establishment is over. This is now my ‘barber shop’ going forward.

Good quality cuts here for men. Highly recommend it.

I showed a photo at the beginning of my cut to show what I wanted but the cut I got was really different from the photo. The cut was decent and alright just not what I asked for.
They might be able to only do one type of haircut. Unfortunately, when I want something specific I would like to pay for it and get that style.
They were kind here and kept the time of our appointment, I just left feeling not satisfied.

This place is simply awesome. They cut hair very well here, seriously. I’ve always hated my haircuts everywhere I’ve ever gone in my life. Not here. It’s been great every time. I get my hair cut by Norly. It also doesn’t break the bank, super affordable. To top it off, this place is super chill. All the people who work here are cool to talk to and are friendly, nice, and down to earth. I also set all my appointments up via text message. How awesome is that?!

This is my absolute favorite hair salon in the Bay Area. I tried a handful of places before finding Quality Men’s Haircut, and now that I’ve found it I’ll never go anywhere else.
Ann has been styling my hair for almost 2 years now and she’s a total rockstar. When I first came to her in 2013, I’d had the same hairstyle my entire life and finally admitted to myself that it was time for a change. I brought in a few pictures & she weighed in and gave me an awesome (and long overdue) makeover. She also gave me great advice on how to style my hair on a daily basis (since I was — and still am – a total hair noob).
I’ve been returning to see her every 5 weeks, and she always does a great job. She’s got a great vision for hair ideas if you ever want to experiment with new styles, and she continues to be my favorite hairstylist I’ve ever had. She’s funny, entertaining, sweet, and thoughtful about the whole hairstyling experience. The standard Men’s Express Cut (cut + shampoo + styling) come out to $ 30 + tip which is a fantastic deal for the quality & experience you’ll get.

After coming here to fix a disaster of a haircut, I’m very glad that I found this place through Unilocal.
I got my hair cut by Kseniya, who was very friendly and talkative — qualities I love in a stylist. We chatted the entire time, and it was a great experience. Kseniya literally saved my hair — I do have curly hair which is difficult to cut right (any mistake shows up like crazy once it’s longer), but she made it look fantastic and talked me through what she was doing and asked for my input at each step.
For the price, it was such a steal, even without the kindness of the employees (all of whom were checking on each customer and offering candy — above and beyond the norm) and the quality of the haircut. The name of the business does not lie. :). I’ll be back!

The hair cut was nice and as I had asked for — no complaints!

This was the first hair salon I tried when I arrived in the bay. I was very happy with them but I wanted to try a couple of other salon at various prices in the area. Well, after 1 year of trying different places this is the one I really prefer and I have been coming back here ever since.
Ann is the one that usually cuts my hair, she gets exactly what I want and I am really happy with the result! The salon atmosphere is nice and friendly. Price of haircut+shampoo is 30 $ to this date.
