I first discovered Niji 3 years ago, when another sushi establishment that will remain unnamed was too busy to take us in. My wife, then fiancé, and I said oh well, and walked down the street and stumbled upon Niji. If memory serves me correctly it was right around their Grand Opening, so they were still getting setup and figuring things out. Despite this, the service was fantastic, the food was great, and I actually dig the ‘unfinished’ atmosphere. Since then, we’ve been back tons of times. We’ve taken our friends and family here, and they have always been satisfied. My latest trip was last Sunday with a friend and his wife. I talked him into ordering the boat with me, and his wife got two special rolls. We all had beers, and shared hot sake. I’ve been buddies with this fellow for over half my life, and never once had we realized that we are perfect sushi companions. He eats everything that I won’t, and vice versa. It saddens me that we found this out so late in the game, but better late than never. We stayed until closing, but weren’t rushed out the door. We were presented with our bill, which should have been way higher, and of course the customary sliced orange! I don’t know why a sliced orange stokes me out the way it does, but it does. The fact that the three of us were able to catch up, eat good sushi, and knock back a few rounds all for under $ 90 makes Niji a no brainer.

I got Niji Sushi delivered and the food was actually good! I say this because I have had a lot of different sushi places around the area for delivery and found myself disappointed every single time. I was skeptical to try another place but I am so glad I did! I had the dinner combination with teriyaki beef and sashimi and a side order of the spicy tuna roll. I have pretty high standards for spicy tunas rolls but the ones from here were great. The fish was fresh and it had the perfect kick. The beef teriyaki was also good. A lot of places I’ve tried makes the beef overcooked and turns out very dry like cardboard but I was surprised how well Niji Suhi makes its teriyaki beef. The center of the pieces were pink and tender! This is definitely my go-to delivery sushi place from now on!

Decent selection at a competitive price. Niji Sushi offers an extensive selection of traditional and modern sushi. I sampled both and found the modern sushi dishes lacking while the more traditional sushi to be fresh and flavorful. The pricing is on the low side, which makes Niji great for a quick bite or getting some takeout. Niji Sushi is a casual sushi restaurant for those who want good sushi quick and for the cheap.

We really like this place for both eat in and take out. I found this place when I was looking for a sushi place that offer a good platter for takeout. After trying the takeout, we decided to eat there and really enjoy it. Decent price.

Was looking for another sushi place in the vicinity but saw this one, so I figured I would try it out since it was a Sunday night closer to closing time and it was still pretty packed… This place had what I would call large almost enormous portion of sashimi, like slabs of fish, and the quality was good also, not excellent, but still very good… Very reasonable $$$ for the quality & portion size delivered… Started with a HamaSuba or HamaSaba roll — Outstanding !! Then had the Sushi & Sashimi combination dinner, again very good, and BIG portions… Finished it off with some Red Bean ice cream — Very nice overall — Typical ambience for a Japanese Sushi place…

Underwhelming post lunch service. Had my 6 and 8 year olds with me and they had Resident Evil playing on the TV. My children got to watch bunnies get injected with chemicals, four people died and the zombie dogs without skin on them while we were eating.

We came here after 2pm on a Saturday, and it wasn’t crowded, unlike Sushi Tomi, which anyway already closed at 2pm. I had Tuna Sashimi lunch, and it was quite good. Service is above average, and food prices are quite a bit lower than other Sushi places I visited recently.

This is a little affordable spot, great for everyday lunch or casual dinner. No need to wait in line or write your name in a dreadful waitlist, as this place has free tables most of the time [may be not during the business lunch hours though]. Then, you get a cup of hot green tea, which feels extra good during the chilly winter. The menu features a wide variety of items great for lunch or dinner. My favorites are the combos, as you can try many items at once. All combos and lunch boxes come with miso soup and salad. While I’m not a fan of a traditional salad, the miso soup is pretty good. What is even more refreshing is the fact that most of plates are executed in a timely manner! Not a lot of places can do it these days. Prices in Niji Sushi are reasonable, servers are polite and attentive. Even though this is not the best sushi place, it has its strong sides and I love it.

We enjoyed our lunch here today. We got sushi boat for 2 and it was huge. Definitely to be shared by two people. Only thing was it came with only 1individual soup and 1 individual salad. Food was average. You know if you go here, expect korean quality sushi and not Japanese authentic sushi because you pay for what you get. If you want real Japanese sushi… try sushi tomi. The temperature of the Soup was perfect hot. Tea temperature was hot and not luke warm. Eek Anyway we will come back and will probably get the sushi boat again.

The sushi here is pretty good, but not spectacular. I removed another star because the location is not very clean. They should at least replace the carpet…

I’ve been to Niji Sushi twice, each time for dinner with a college friend to catch up after work. I enjoyed a special roll(forgot the name of it) and the shrimp tempura inside of the roll was very fresh and crispy. However, the place was packed and we felt rushed; the waitress came and asked for our order maybe 5 different times. The second time was a lot more relaxed. We went on a Tuesday night at 6pm. Our server was very attentive and refilled our tea multiple times. I ordered the seafood ramen and a spicy scallop roll. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the seafood ramen, but I liked that it had a mussle in it. The broth was very bland; I had to mix it with additional soy sauce and siracha. However, the salmon pieces were plentiful and tasted fresh and tender, not overcooked. Niji’s special rolls are worth giving a try!

This Wednesday I went to this restaurant. When I was having my sushi, I found two bugs in the soy source!!! Omg that was very disgusting!!! I don’t know how a Japanese restaurant can be dirty like this… I called the waiter come and show them, they didn’t say anything… So I assume that they know it already or it happens many times so they wasn’t even shocked lmao!!! I won’t go there anymore and I really don’t recommended them… Guys, just thing about your health… Be careful with those restaurant that has bugs LOL. Ruined my day!!!

Its been over two years since I came across Niji Sushi. My food buddy and I were craving sushi rolls and out of all the sushi restaurants in the area Niji Sushi was the only spot open. The few times we have been here is between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is the time when almost all sushi restaurants close for 2 or 3 hours. During that 3 hour gap Niji Sushi satisfied our hunger. They used to be open from 11 a.m. to close and now they close from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Their menu has a lot of variety. Reasonable prices and delicious sushi rolls. Niji Sushi is a good spot for your sushi roll fix. I read a few reviews about the food but I’ve never had any problems. The food has always been good and the servers attentive. They also have a rear entry from the parking lot which I think is convenient.

Yesterday was my birthday, and I got a most forgettable birthday lmao!!! The service is really bad!!! I wait so long but my dish didn’t come, I asked my waiter who is a bot with a lot of acne on his face and he said«you just wait!!!» I was shocked… WTF is that??? I can’t even ask??? That’s the fucking ridiculous!!! I was so angry and I asked him«what did you say?» He didn’t say anything back but instead he leave me a insult gesture… Okay!!! I understand that everybody have a bad day but as a waitress he is absolutely not supposed to do that!!! I feel really but and I will never go there again!!! The only reason I give one star because there is nothing lower than this!!! BTW…the price is cheap but it’s not fresh at all!!! For Japanese food you will never expect the food material bad like this restaurant!!!

I’m kicking myself for forgetting to take a photo of the rolls as well. They were so good, I plumb forgot about technology. Suffice it to say, they were inhaled in a hurry with loud displays of appreciation. My Super Chirashi Sushi was just that: super fresh and bliss-inducing. Each and every piece of fish from the hamachi to the uni was the perfect size and perfectly delicious. For easy reference: 1. the components of Super Chirashi: salmon, tuna, hamachi, white fish, tai, uni, ikura, ebi, tamago & kani 2. direct link to their dinner menu:

Honestly the food here is nothing super spectacular, but I just can’t say no to cheap Japanese food! This is admittedly one of my go-to Japanese places in MV. It’s not the *best* quality, but it gets the job done in satisfying my(frequent) Japanese cravings. I think the best bang for your buck is the dinner combo($ 15), which comes with two choices of mains. I usually get the chicken teriyaki + rainbow roll. The portions are generous and great for sharing! The teriyaki chicken combo($ 9) is also a great deal, as it comes with an insaaane amount of chicken(good enough for almost 2.5 meals). All combos also come with rice, salad, and miso soup. The rolls are pretty good too! I reaaally like the spider roll($ 6.5), which has soft shell crab, crab meat, and avocado. Spider rolls elsewhere are upwards of $ 9, so really nothing to complain about :) Service is below par. They are attentive(aka they refill my water), but not at all friendly. I guess we can’t have everything, right?

If Niji was smart, they would welcome the overflow traffic from Tomi, and build their reputation by focusing on the customer experience and food quality. I, like many others, came here solely because Tomi had a waiting list 15 people deep. Now, I’ve never been to Tomi, but after my experience here, I’m beginning to see why people are willing to wait, versus eating here at Niji. Biggest complaint was the service. Slow to seat, slow to greet, slow to check in and take orders, slow to get water and tea refills, and slow to get the check. This could be understandable, if it was busy, or they were short staffed, but I assure you, with plenty of open tables, and at least a six person waitstaff, the pace was unacceptable. We also asked for separate checks prior to ordering and were assured it was no problem. When we received the bill as one check and politely asked to have it split, we were treated with a scoff and a little eye rolling. The only reason they manage to still salvage three stars is because of the food. Now while it’s not the prettiest or the most well constructed, the quality to cost ratio of this sushi is pretty good. Most of their unique roll selection is around $ 10, which is a fair value for. I had the Kaki Fried(fried oysters) were delicate and cooked just right, with the oyster still moist and soft inside. The Jin Roll was light and the eel really bided the flavors together. The Super Lion King Roll, served in an aluminum boat, was a warm roll which was unexpected, and a strange contrast when eating other cold rolls, so be advised. I don’t know if this is a decent alternative to Tomi, since I have been there. I do know that you get good sushi for the price. The service, well, I guess putting up with it will depend on how bad you’re craving sushi.

I spent Black Friday, with a friend, having lunch and catching up in Mountain View, enjoying Sushi and Sashimi at Niji Sushi. We almost didn’t end up here as we were walking around and couldn’t decide on what to have — but I guess it was either hunger or just giving up because neither one of us would make the decision on where to go or what to have. Luckily though, we both enjoy Sushi. Actually, love is a better word. It wasn’t busy — not a big surprise as shopping centers were jam packed to the point that traffic was backing up on the freeways to get to them. So, it made for some really great customer service — at least that’s how I felt because the staff pretty much just left my friend and I alone to catch up. Serving sizes were decent and because it wasn’t so busy, hot green tea was always replenished as well as our water glasses. It’s in Mountain View so there’s parking lots all around if you don’t get lucky with street parking. I don’t know how well it’s enforced but I definitely went over the time limit and I wasn’t issued a parking violation. I wouldn’t test that at night or on the weekends though. Had a good time, with a good friend, having some good Sashimi and Sushi. Great way to spend an afternoon, on Black Friday.
