Mindy C. Hair Stylist

Mindy is great! I usually keep my hair long but I cut it much shorter once 1.5 years or so. Given how rarely I do this, I’m quite picky about the process. Mindy was very insightful about what length and style would look nice. She was also quick, a very skillful hair stylist. Also I called for a same day appointment and she was able to accommodate. Highly recommended!

Mindy did an awesome job! Will definitely return. I have super straight hair so it’s always a challenge to get a good cut — my hair does nothing! Still, Mindy managed to get some layers in there and there’s a lot more movement. Thanks Mindy!

I recently moved to Mountain view from San Francisco and I was in desperate need of a hair cut. Most women know how challenging it is to find a good stylist and once you do, you never want to leave her/​him. I had been traveling to Sacramento to get my hair done by a stylist whom I love, but with two kids under the age of two, it makes traveling there quite difficult. I was very hesitant to try someone new, but I decided to do some research on Unilocal to find someone with good reviews and give them a shot. I found Mindy C’s profile and based on what others said about her, I decided to set up an appointment. I called on a Monday and she was able to fit me in on a Wednesday. I was a little nervous considering my other stylist took months to get appointments with. When I went to Aruba salon it wasn’t busy and it definitely wasn’t pretentious, like most salons I’ve been to. In a way, this made me a bit more nervous about the cut I was about to receive.
Mindy is reserved and quiet, but she asked me a lot of questions about my hair as well as took a look at some pictures I brought her to show her what style I was expecting. She went to work and I must say, I am ABSOLUTELY pleased with what she did. She has made my hair look much better than it has in a long time. She surpassed all my expectations and deserves 5 stars hands down. I am so pleased that I have found her and dont have to travel all the way to Sacramento anymore to get my hair done.
If you are looking for a new stylist, dont hesitate in calling Mindy. She is wonderful and you’ll be happy you trusted her to cut your hair.

Mindy is AWESOME!!! Today was my first cut/​style with her and I am beyond happy with the results. She was able to fit me into her schedule and did an amazing job with my hair. She started out by asking what kind of cut/​style I was looking for. I brought a photo with me as reference and tried to point out certain things that I did/​did not want during my cut. My goal was to keep length, while adding additional layers. At the end of the appointment, I had full, soft, bouncy, beautiful layers! I actually think they look better than the photo I brought in. I am so happy with Mindy’s cutting/​styling skills and will most definitely be coming back! If you are located in the South Bay area and are looking for an awesome cut, definitely book with her!

With all the great reviews on Unilocal,I was really excited about finding a stylist closer to home! But alas, disappointment!
Mindy is talented and did an overall great job with the color and cut of my hair, but her time management needs to be improved to better serve the customer. Also, it was WAY more expensive than I’ve ever paid $ 185! At most I’ve experienced better service and professionalism for $ 40 less than that. I subsequently gave her a really poor tip since I really didn’t think it was even worth the $ 200 I gave her.
For some reason, Mindy scheduled another client during my appointment. I showed up early to my 5pm appointment (about 4:45) and Mindy didn’t take me until just at 5pm as she was finishing up someone else. After a quick consultation, she did a quick chop and started the color process. While she was applying the color, I had no protection for my ears or skin and color got all over my forehead and neck. I’ve never had this happen before.
Once she set my color in, she told me to sit elsewhere, and she took her other client. While I was waiting, I thought that my color was sitting a bit too long (I’ve done color many times and know that when it starts to warm, it’s about time to wash it out). Mindy stopped her cut with the 2^nd client to get my hair washed. The wash was average and not totally thorough.
After shampoo, Mindy put conditioner in my hair and then told me to relax so she went to finish cutting her 2^nd client’s hair. The wash station is NOT comfortable to sit in. and with wet hair… for at least 10 minutes. I’ve never had this happen to me before! It started to get COLD with the air conditioner blowing.
After Mindy finished with her client, she came to finish washing my hair and then finished my cut. I was definitely in a bad mood by then. The cut was average and she didn’t do much layering. Her excuse was that the previous hair stylist I had put a ton of layers in already… but that was 5 months ago.
Not great. I don’t recommend. I will not come back. My hair is luckily fine and won’t need fixing, but it was such a poor and expensive experience.

Mindy did an awesome job on my hair. She brightened up my 3 month old red dye job and took into consideration the brittle status of my hair.
She also styled it beautifully and made my hair shine.
As a new client, I couldn’t be happier! I was nervous as I’d been going to the same salon for years, but moving to the Bay Area had me searching for a new place. I found it.

Found Mindy by searching for a «locks of love» salon. She was able to squeeze me in within a few days. She was friendly, professional, and understood exactly what I wanted. Great hair stylist!

I’ve wanted to do something dramatic w my color for ages but always worried about someone ruining my hair health or looking shoddy like some others’ I’ve seen.
Finally asked Mindy for dramatic purple streaks– yet still sort of subtle enough for work setting.
She is very calm & patient & details oriented. Great quality — my hair stayed smooth & healthy even after bleach & color. I’ve been stopped on the street by ladies asking me where I did my hair! Highly Recommend.

I was excited to try this place based upon the positive reviews. I’ve lived in SF, NY and Chicago and usually go to super high end places. I thought about trying Mindy since she is close to my work and due to the positive reviews.
What I got was a very mediocre haircut– no pretty layers that would grow out nicely. Not once did I get a compliment on my haircut after leaving the salon. All my hair is one length, and to put it bluntly, I am pretty sure I could have gotten the same haircut at Supercuts. One of my colleagues looked at it and said– why did she not do more layers? Why does it look so uneven? I got the sense that she tells everyone that their hair is damaged, to make it an easier cut for her as a blunt cut. I have at least another year now to wait to grow it out– and sadly consider extensions. While Mindy is nice, I’m not sure it’s worth it, even though $ 60 is relatively cheap for a haircut, I would go elsewhere despite the positive reviews.

Awesome hair cut! My hair was dry and damaged and Mindy helped me cut off damaged hair while still keeping style.

I love Mindy, and have been going to her for close to 5 years now ever since discovering her on Unilocal.She loves experimenting with my hair colors as much as I do, and never complains or tries to talk me out of my ideas even if they’re majorly time consuming. I do appreciate that she will be quick to let me know if something won’t look good on me so I don’t end up being dissatisfied (whereas other stylists may agree just to charge you more).
She’s an expert with bobs for the time that I had one, and she’s great with color as well now that my hair is longer. We’ve gone all shades of red with my hair before finally settling on a shade, and I usually get 2 – 2.5 months out of each shade despite red being the hardest to maintain.
Overall, highly recommended!

I followed Mindy when she left JulieQ’s to go independent. I was so glad I found her again! She is a consistent hair stylist who always cuts well. To me, consistency is everything. I know when I go to her, I don’t need to worry.
She explains why she’s cutting and how much. I appreciated her telling me not to thin my hair on the ends, because I have really fine, Asian hair that’s extremely straight. Cutting too short would make it go every which way.
There was one point where she became a bit impatient when I wasn’t sure how short to make my bangs. I valued her opinion which was to do heavy side swept bangs but I had done that before and wanted something more short to frame my face. In the end, I’m glad I went with shorter.

Mindy always gives me great haircuts! I get SO many compliments after each cut, even a month later! She’s a very thoughtful stylist– she listens to what you want and if you’re not happy she is patient in figuring out how to adjust the cut to your satisfaction.

Since moving to the Bay Area, Mindy has been the only one to cut my hair since I discovered her in Mountain View. She is courteous, professional, and very personable. She is great with working with Asian hair and I pretty much let her decide what looks best, and never leave disappointed. She does free bang trimming for me which I appreciate, since that can get pricey if you are keeping bangs well-​groomed over the course of a few months.

Finding your perfect hairstylist is much like dating– you have to kiss a lot of frogs before finding your prince (ss). For many years I would wait for trips to Asia to let someone handle my hair. Obviously this was not sustainable, so I took a friend’s recommendation to visit a stylist in the southbay. I thought my search for a reliable hairstylist in the bay area had finally ended when the first few cuts turned out well, but it all fell apart with one horribly BAD cut. Its hard to regain that trust! Enter Mindy– she saved my hair from ugly mullethood, and has slowly reshaped it so it now fits in with my lifestyle; stylish, but still wash-​and-​go.
I like Mindy’s work so much that I manage to visit her every 3−6mo, which is unheard of for me (used to be once a year, or once every two years before I got a trim/cut).Her prices are very reasonable, and her work is meticulous. I’d follow her anywhere (within reason ;-]).

Mindy C is the best! I went to Mindy for the first time 6 months ago after receiving a terrible cut elsewhere, & she worked a miracle! I’m in the process of growing back out my hair and went for a trim the other day & once again I left a happy camper :).
I am not too hard to please until it comes to my hair. I’ve never had a hair lady that I loved until I met Mindy!
Mindy is very personable, patient and knows what she’s doing. My hair is thick and wavy and hard to tame but she takes her time in perfecting the cut and style. My sister told me about her and now I want to tell everyone else about her!

I just got another much needed awesome cut from Mindy! I had dead dry ends and tons of knots from washing and putting my hair in a ponytail due to mommy duties. Mindy gave me a cut that is easy to manage and brought back style to my long locks. She knows how to cut my long hair adding layers that keep my look fresh, healthy and fun. After getting the same boring cut from other stylists, I’m so happy to have found Mindy.

Mindy is MY hair guru. I have referred her through and through for my friends because she treats me and my hair so well. Guess what? The one time I cheat on her to get my hair colored by my friend, my hair died. IT DIED (it actually did).
I was the first ombré she had done and it looked fabulous. Even after my friend had dyed my hair, Mindy cut my hairstyle so that it would flow with the hair color I already had. I’ve never had someone listen so intently to what I wanted. She even talked me out of getting bangs, she was right. The first time I met her, she taught me how to curl my hair with a straightener in less than 5 minutes.
Now…if she could just teach me how to do a blow out by myself…
