I am pretty particular about my Mexican food. All I had was an asada taco, and it was alright. I needed something in my stomach, and for $ 2 it was good enough. The worst part was the meat, which was chewy and fatty. Most of the pieces of meat were just chunks of fat. So, good enough but not 4 or 5 star worthy.

A couple of friends pointed out this taco truck around the corner from my apartment. It being so close, I couldn’t help but take a stroll over for dinner. I was very pleasantly surprised! The tacos are super cheap but the portions are appropriate — at $ 1.50, the average person’s appetite will call for 3 to 5 of them, but that’s still a very competitive price range to fill up at. The man at the register was very helpful for us new customers and explained all the different meats we asked about(after«carnitas» and«pollo», my knowledge gets really slim…). The tacos themselves were prepared and presented very nicely and well-garnished, with a number of salsas to choose from. And, though I can’t speak from experience really, to me this food felt far less«fake» than a lot of Mexican stuff I’ve had before. Not much else to say other than that I’ll be making frequent trips to this place from my apartment!

I was driving down El Camino to Redwood City when I noticed this Taco Truck parked on the side. Was about 1130 Monday afternoon. And I also saw $ 1 tacos. So I swung on over to the street and parked my car. The truck was parked right in front of where Atherton Antiques used to be. When I checked in, Mountain View is the location for this place? Guess they didn’t do that great over there and have decided to try another location. I ordered a beef and pork taco. They serve these tacos open-faced which are my favorite. The pork definitely looked really good as they cooked it on the grill. Unfortunately, the tacos weren’t that great. Pretty average tasting. The tortilla they use is really dense and they give you 2 of them for each taco. So I was tasting a lot of corn in my tacos. And overall, just not fantastic. But for $ 1/taco, not too bad though I know a great taco truck in Huntington Beach that rocks 2 tacos for a buck. So not the best deal, but I’d come back here just to stop my stomach from grumbling.

Not only is this truck around the corner from where I work it’s the best taco truck in town. This truck does rock! Try the pastor burritto or the pastor soft tacos. Yum yum yum is all I have to say. Super friendly and super tasty.

I think this place is actually called Super Tacos El Conrro… but the sign that’s visible from the street say Antojitos Mexicanos. Anyway, kind of a weird crowd hanging around outside, but the food was delicious. One of the better vegetarian burritos I’ve had in my life, and I eat a lot of them. We got a veggie burrito, 3 tacos and the choriqueso(taco with cheese and chorizo) for $ 12.50, which I count as one of the cheaper meals for 2 I’ve purchased in a long time. Only thing I missed was chips and guac, but I guess I can’t have it all. I will definitely be back.

The greatest way to be accepted by a culture is to eat their food. I wholly believe this as I think I’ve made some friends with the folks who own this truck. This maybe one of the best taco trucks no one knows about. Translating to Mexican Snacks, they provide small tasty eats in spades. Specializing in the eats of Mexico City Distrito Federal tacos, tortas, and other treats, not only is the food great, the selection is bountiful. Pastor Buche Ojo Oreja Trompa Cachete Carteja Campechano Mollejita Cartilago Suadero Chorizo Cecina the list goes on… I know there’s probably half a dozen things I havent tried yet. They make their carnitas right in front of you where there’s a door showing it frying up crisp after it’s been roasted. On top of that, the folks are super friendly and seeing that I stood out in the fact that this was a completely Hispanic block party they welcomed me in as I was ordering some stuff even some Mexicans(like some of my friends and my ex) won’t get. I made a request for tripas and the owner said he’d try to get some in a week of my next visit. That is just beyond awesome.

1. It’s a taco truck between the Wheel Works and the Target on the corner of Showers and California. It’s pretty hard to miss if you enter through California. 2. Where did this place come from? I don’t frequent Target too often but this year is the first time I’ve seen it there. So far I’ve been twice: a saturday at night and a wednesday at noon, so it doesn’t seem like it moves around either. 3. Pretty good food! I’ve only had the al pastor and asada tacos so far and they were both well worth it. The meat has the whole tender – but also burnt/crunchy – thing going on which I enjoy. They have red and green salsa out for you to drizzle over your food. Red is fairly spicy but green is cool and I think there is some avocado in it. 4. They have a pretty big menu. Tacos are $ 1.25 and I think burritos are $ 5 and there’s a whole bunch of other stuff that I do not know of. Definitely would come back here again.
