My gramma was a seamstress and shopped here faithfully for many years. I many fond memories of tagging along with her on many trips here as a kid and watching her haggle with Ira.
It was sad to hear that they are about to close the doors on this place. Gramma is no longer with us, but if she were, she’d be pretty sad too.

I needed fabric to make curtains for several windows at my daughter’s apartment, so visited this place based on online reviews, and it certainly lived up to its reputation — and then some! The place is like going back in time — room after room of old wood floors and every imaginable kind of fabric at prices out of the 1970’s! The gentlemen who served me were pleasant and helpful in every way (I was not from the area so I needed directions and addresses, which they kindly looked up in the phone book for me). Several old men sat at a table in the corner reading the newspaper, and they were delightful as well. I will definitely be going back there for my sewing needs when I visit my daughter in the Bronx.
