Great place! Order from here all the time. Catered a couple of parties also.

We used to go to the owners other resteraunt-​ROSSINIS-​until it closed.
This is a small family resteaurant with great food. My whole family loves it and we celebrated the actual day of my birthday there.
Go there to order what you like. Do not go there to find a healthy alternative. Just enjoy the meal.
There was another birthday that night and an anniversary. We were all talking like family.
Everyone there is super friendly and the food is always very good.
Small so you may have to wait but it is worth it.

We order their pastas, chicken dishes, and pizza for delivery all the time. I wish the pizza (sauce) was sweeter, but their pastas are excellent as are the chicken dishes (i.e., chicken marsala, chicken Vesuvio). Went there for lunch recently and was surprised there was no table service at lunchtime; place your order and get a number. But that day’s lunch special was a large portion of excellent meatloaf with mashed potatoes (I forget exactly but it was about $ 7). The only drawback to Salerno’s is that it’s like a «storefront» and not a very comfortable restaurant, but the menu is huge. Mondays are half price pizza and the place is really jumping!

Best Chicken Marsala ever. My girlfriend and I both get it and we share the generous sides that come with it. She gets the sautéed spinach and I get the penne with meat sauce. The only thing I’m not crazy about is the bread. I wish they would just serve good old warm, Italian bread. They do some fancy varietal types which are just OK in my opinion; some of it always seems stale, like that awful crunchy Mexican pastry.

Never had a bad meal here. Love the chicken Marsala; the best I’ve ever had. Love the outdoor seating in good weather.

Do not patronize this place. We went for dinner last night. We placed our order and waited for over an hour. We were never offered refills on drinks. They gave our pizza to the next table and apologized profusely to them and never said anything until my date demanded to see the manager. He had to ask several times, when the short, fat manager finally came out he threw us out of the restaurant. No one offered an apology for their error. We are frequent delivery customers at least once or twice a week. A patron should not have to ask 6 or 7 times to see the manager. THEY DO NOT EVEN DESRVE THE ONE STAR I GAVE THEM

I used to love this pizza, especially the crispy «extra thin». The last 3 times I have ordered I was told the pizza would be ready in 30 minutes. When I arrived 30 minutes later, all three times I have had to wait an additional 10 – 20 minutes. Are they just putting in the pizza when I get there? I usually don’t mind waiting, but this restaurant is small and busy with NO waiting area so you just stand around and have to move around waiters and nearby tables. I had my heals on last night and after working all day, just didn’t appreciate having to stand and wait 20 minutes. The guy handing me my order didn’t even bother to apologize for the wait. The pizza was soggy and not «extra thin» nor was one of them «well done» like I ordered (same problem as when I ordered before). I ordered one of the pizzas with fresh mozzarella instead of the shredded and they put on both so I had so much cheese, I had to pick most of it off. Think I will have to find a new pizza place.

Great food. We get carry outs all the time. I think Frank the owner grew up in a restaurant. We used to go to his parents place all the time. It is good to see him succeed and keep the quality in his food.

Love this place and go at least one a week for lunch and for supper. From chicken salad for lunch to cheese ravioli for supper. Great bread basket and service. Try the neck bones, super.

Finally, my search for a thin crust delicious pizza in the Mount Prospect area cheaper than Lou Malnati’s is over. Sausage isn’t too spicy, sauce had a nice sweetness, not heavy on the cheese. Will be back for ½ price pizza Monday!

That place used to be Super for Chicken Parm. May as well take it off the menu because now it’s a rubbery thin over deep fried hunk of shit. Very disappointed. Will not go back there BUBYE.

Pleasantly Surprised
We came here with a group of 8 for my mother in laws birthday. I read some of the reviews so I wasn’t convinced that I was going to like this place but it turns out that it was all good.
The place is kind of off the beaten track in a strip mall. The inside is pretty small so the fact that we arrived early and told them that we will have 8 was a good idea because the place soon filled up fast and it was standing room only. Yep, there were people standing and waiting to get a table. When they had set up our table it had a couple of baskets of breads and olive oil for dipping.
I was sitting next to my nephew who couldn’t decide weather to go with the lasagna or the ravioli. I told him to pick one and I will get the other and then we can share. He liked this idea and agreed to go with the lasagna. My choice was made except do I go with the cheese or meat ravioli and do I go with the meat sauce or the marinara? I went with the cheese ravioli with the marinara. The sauce was very good and tasted very authentic and homemade as it had chunks of tomatoes and just a good flavor. I tried my nephews lasagna and it was good as well. Because I make my own lasagna I use Italian sausage instead of ground beef. It was still good though.
We did start off with a Cesar salad and a plate of calamari. I tried the calamari and it was good. I didn’t have the salad though but everyone said it was good. Overall, everyone enjoyed what they chose for a meal.
Menu:
Danny our server was pretty good and did a good job of taking care of our table. The tables are a little close to each other so you may hear conversations from other tables or even the staff which I did (they need to be more aware of what they say).
If we are in the area and it’s lunchtime or early evening I’m sure that we will stop in for a good meal.

It’s Not Just About the Portion Size
I was surprised to see only three stars for their rating. I have been here on several occasions (but would not consider myself a regular). Every time I’ve been here, the portions are huge, but like I said it’s not just about the portions – the food is delicious and creative.
On my latest visit, I had a chicken special that had capers, sun dried tomatoes and artichokes in a lemon butter sauce with farfalle pasta — a 10! And their bread! They bring a selection and, of course, you have to try each of them, right? They are all out of this world, IMHO.
Also, I have to mention the service. Daniel has been my waiter the last two times I’ve been there. He’s smart, efficient, polite and pleasant – the perfect storm for a great waiter.
I’ve used their catering services before too (see my review) and I was equally pleased. I feel bad that some have not had a good experience here, as mine have been consistently top-​notch!

Small place. Delicious food! Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere. Great italian aroma in the air!

Not what it used to be. Portions got smaller and prices went up. Food was served cold which they corrected but it was served on a cold plate.

Food is excellent and plentiful. Most people take home leftovers. Flavors are spot on for this Northern Italian pizzeria/​restaurant. The servers are terrific.
But, the layout is poor. All 4 tops, few two tops, so while you can spread out as a couple, you stand and wait for a table when the restaurant is crowded. Also, there is really nowhere to wait for your carryout order, so you either block the waitress stand or hover over other diners.
So, pick off nights, get a table and Mangia! Monday, use grubhub for half-​off pizza night.

The plaza that Salerno’s is located in is hard for restaurants other than Photo’s. I’ve seen other places come and go throughout the years, and Salerno’s has been around for a while. I am from Mt. Prospect, and I moved to the city about 5 years ago… I always make sure to go to this place when I come around! I love their rotini salerno and one of their salads (can’t remember the name — it has hearts of palm in it). The restaurant it simple, and their outdoor seating is lovely when it’s nice out. The most recent time I was here, my boyfriend and I ordered a bottle of wine to split, and when we couldn’t finish it they gave us the cork and took it home — never heard of a restaurant doing this! I highly recommend to everyone.

I used to LOVE this place, but a recent experience here has sickened me. They served me «marinara» with meat in it. And replaced it with ANOTHER «marinara» with meat. As a vegetarian, I am sickened. Their answer? The meat sauce is right next to the marinara so sometimes the marinara has meat in it. They were not at all concerned about it. So if you are a vegetarian, have food restrictions, are planning on eating pasta during lent DO NOT EAT HERE.

Two words… DEEE-​licious!
I had the Giambotta and will have the other half for lunch tomorrow. I would bring the family here frequently if I lived nearby. Casual and great food. Very friendly servers. To top it off, homemade Italian ice and cannoli for dessert! A winning combo all around.

Salernos is my go to for my favorite — Angel hair and meat sauce. For whatever reason I can Not manage to make it anywhere near as good as theirs. I had to give it up for lent i liked it so much, haha.
When you call in they know who you are right away which is nice. Good pricing, large portios, friendly staff.
Inside it’s not a huge place. Cozy and welcoming.
I reccomend going here for a simple night out to an Italian place that won’t break the bank but will bring a smile to your face.
