Magwood C A Jr and Sons

Read about buying shrimp at Wando shrimp company so we headed over there to buy shrimp (based on other Unilocal reviews). We got there and they were already closed so we headed to Magwood’s right next door.
Not sure what the prices are at Wando’s but we purchased 3 pounds of «large» shrimp for $ 9/​pound. This seemed high being that we were buying it directly from the shrimper but we were desperate as it was our dinner plans for the night.
We got home and our «large» shrimp were more like small to (maybe) medium sized. They were good but nothing special. By the time we cooked them, they shrunk up to the size of small to x-​small.
We headed to the Mt. Pleasant farmers market on Tuesdays (starts at 330pm-​a MUST go) and found truly beautiful large fresh shrimp for $ 7 per pound.
All in all, head to the farmers market or try Wando. Wouldn’t go back to Magwood’s way too expensive.
Will say this, the people there were great! Very nice people.

Interesting place, all they sell is shrimp out of this little window on Shem Creek. They only have 4 options, medium or large, head on or off shrimp. If you want super fresh, no nonsense shrimp for your table, hit it up.
