Absolutely my favorite Indian place ever. Great food, excellent portions and all for a tremendous price. I am very sad to hear that it has closed. Passage to India has been a favorite of mine for quite a long time and was my introduction to the cuisine. I hope the good folks behind the restaurant find a way to continue as their food was truly exceptional.

We went to Passage to India tonight only to discover that it had been closed! Nooooo! It’s the best Indian restaurant consistently. The buffet was great with both meat and veggie dishes. There was the Christmas light at the window, so we looked in hoping that they were closed for tonight. But there were no tables or chairs. We ate here since it opened, and we do not know where to go after exploring many Indian restaurants in Westchester and none is better than this… So disappointed.

I thought the food was pretty decent for the price($ 8.95 lunch buffet). I liked the butter chicken, rice, spinach, and the red chicken. I thought the rice pudding was pretty good too. I thought the service was a little bit unfriendly. Again, it’s a value lunch, don’t expect a Michelin star experience.

The food was disgusting the service terrible. Indian food happens to be something Iove. Never have I had worse. The appetizer was warmed over the shrimp old as tough as leather and tasted moldy. Do no even try it.

As soon as I entered, I smelled something bad! That’s the first turn off! Silverware was not clean. That’s the second turn off. I feel stupid for not leaving the place right then. I wanted to try the food assuming that the place has a typical hole in the wall look with some good food. But I was wrong. Food was horrible. We went there for a lunch buffet. The vegetarian curries were half cooked and tasteless. Please note: I’m not talking about the Americanized Indian food. This is very bad. The waiter didn’t even care about us. Worst service. I’m definitely not visiting again. 3⁄5 is the maximum rate I can give… it deserves 1or 2.

I never got a chance to dine in at this place. I ordered food three or four times while I was in the area. The food was OK. I am rating it two stars because of the expensive food. You can get better price and taste at nearby Indian restaurants. I am not aware of any specialities they offer.

Very poor service. The main waiter Shoraib(that’s what he proclaimed his name to be) was rude and demanded additional money for service. When asked to talk to manager or owner, says owner is on vacation and he is the boss. Poor work ethics. Would avoid going here. Overpriced menu. If you ever want to order via phone, forgetaboutit! and donate the money to charity. Finally got a refund.

Though this place wasn’t very crowded, the service was slow. The food was very tasty but my sister had to wait awhile to get her water. This place seems a bit disorganized. It is a Friday and they only have about 5 waiters. The chicken tikka masala was delicious and so was the Lasuni Gobi and Garlic Naan. It wouldn’t be my first option, but I would come back to Passage to India

Passage to India is an authentic Indian restaurant located in the heart of Mount Kisco, near Party City and Groomingdalez. I’ve been to this restaurant a few times with my family who is a big fan of the place, and I’ve always had my likes and dislikes about it. Tonight was no different. We came to eat dinner on a weeknight and the place was empty(I’ve never seen it crowded) and we had our choice of tables. Each plate was decorated with a different color napkin arranged nicely. So far, so good. What really bothers me is the lack of attention paid by the servers after you initially order. Once your order is in, it’s like you’re not even there. Numerous times I was practically praying for the waiter to notice my water needed refilling, but it took a while before my empty glass caught his eye– even though he was holding the pitcher and walking around! The food itself is quite delicious, plain and simple. Our appetizer– a cauliflower dish– was wonderful, a bit too fried if anything. For our main course, we got a paneer tikka masala, a chicken tikka masala, some garlic naan, a saag paneer, raita and a shrimp dish. Everything was delicious– I love that they have paneer tiki as an option for vegetarians like me! Their naan is fluffy like a cloud– not crunchy like many places. Overall, the food is great, but the service could use a bit of work.

They have a buffet for lunch Monday-Friday. It’s very good. It’s a relaxed easy atmosphere unlike the very noisy kabab place down the street. One other interesting thing, there is always someone of Indian descent eating here.

I wasn’t impressed. We went there for weekday lunch buffet. The beef dish was just okay, the chicken masala had a couple pieces of chicken, and when I went for seconds 30mins later– there was still no chicken! The server barely said two words to us and yet seemed rude. No interest in returning.

Yeah no. I tend to like most Indian restaurants I visit but this one is probably at the bottom of the pool. In pertinence to the aesthetics, they got it right. It’s got that traditional, homey feel of an Indian restaurant. The food was a different story. We got the popular dishes(chicken tikka, vindaloo, etc). Everything was either bland or pretty much forgettable. You know something’s off when the best part of your meal was a bottle of the Kingfisher beer and the garlic naan. Way off. Plus, the service was slow as molasses. By the time the check came I probably aged a thousand years.

We got seated very quickly on a Friday night. The service is a bit slow in my opinion, but maybe that’s because they are cooking everything from scratch? The lamb vindaloo is not spicy at all. I mean it has a slow heat, but I def had spicier vindaloo in Manhattan. The Chana Saag is pretty good if you want a veggie dish. The garlic naan is solid. The chicken tikka platter was a bit dry, but still yummy. overall, the food didn’t live up to the price points. However, they do seem to have a great lunch buffet deal, so I do intend to come back to try their lunch buffets.

I can’t help but give this place. Solid 4 star. It’s not a 5 on account of the ambience. I have eaten just as good in nicer looking Indian restaurants. Nothing wrong with the setting either. I’m just stingy with the 5th star. The food on the other hand was superb. Our family went there to enjoy the buffet since we all like to try lots of dishes and recipes. I thought the buffet was slim pickins but tasty non the less. Probably the best tasting chicken masala I have had any where on earth. Rich and creamy I don’t eat chicken but wanted to taste the sauce. They also had some really good fish recipe on the Buffett which I was glad to eat twice. The icing on the cake was the mango lasi(yoghurt drink) my wife who knows me best insisted I must have. It is absolutely a must have… again rich and creamy. My family and I eat a lot of Indian and Himalayan restaurants being a predominant vegetarian family so we frequent other Indian restaurants in the area. Passage to India made us a believer in their authenticity. We will be back many more times.

It’s a shame In writing this review because the food is admittedly delicious. I’m using Unilocal like everyone else here and decided to «explore the menu» at passage to India and place an order for pick up. It was 11.99÷13.99÷9.99 for our dishes. I get to pick up the food and it’s over $ 58. The math doesn’t add up. I told him that the menu has the prices right on it. He tells me «oh you should order from the website and the Unilocal prices are wrong.» He proceeds to reduce the bill to $ 50 and it should have been $ 36…won’t be back til it’s fixed. Feels like a bait and switch

My friend and I were devastated after our favorite Indian restaurant(Bollywood Bistro) closed last year. We have been searching, unsuccessfully, for a new Indian restaurant of a similar caliber to eat at. Based upon the other reviews, we decided to give Passage to India a try… we were not disappointed. The food was actually really quite good! We shared Samosas(which were huge and tasty) and some of the delicious Garlic Nann for our appetizers. Next we each ordered Chicken Biryani for dinner. The biryani was very good… it was very flavorful with a nice heat to it(not too hot, but it definitely had a little kick). Although several other reviewers mentioned that the service was lacking, we did not have this experience… thankfully. What could have been better? The décor left a lot to be desired; it was shabbily decorated which really did not match the quality of Passage to India’s food. The place looked a bit dingy. Also, there was a large screen TV with some sort of «out of service”-type message flashing across it. Lastly, there was no music playing. This was a bit strange, because there were speakers mounted in the restaurant; we could hear the conversations at the tables around us. Overall, a good restaurant. If they were to step up the ambience, I believe that they would have more 5-star ratings. I will be back!

Actually food deserves 4 stars(coconut rice was awesome and rest of the food was spiced good and tasted fresh!) but service was lacking in multiple areas and we were 1 of only 2 tables they have to service in the whole restaurant at the moment. Also minus star for some ambiance. i was facing the back part of the restaurant and it looked like they really need to put a curtain there — front is totally renovated and nice and gives out right ambiance and back is a commercial area entrance with some stacks of supplies or other business related items, not so pretty but still exposed to people who are facing this way. Prices are on a high side. 16 – 18 dollars for purely vegetarian dishes is little steep(imho). vegetable soup was very good as well but a little bit salty to my taste(and rather a small portion). crispy eggplant with tamarind and chickpeas appetizer was very good too.

Passage to India does it again. Been coming here for a few years now. Food is awesome and seasoned just right. Not overpowering or bland. My fav is the channa sag for the vegetarian in me. My wife digs the lamb sag for her carnivorous cravings. Food is plentiful, easy to share and service is good. For a quiet, nice evening with the family this is a great place to come to. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

Came here the other day when I had an unusually large window for a lunch break. Had the lunch buffet, which was $ 10.99. Pretty good deal since they had a decent selection available, even for vegetarians such as myself. Since there were only one other couple eating at the time I went in, some of the food items were not as quickly restocked, but I was okay with that. The saag paneer was pretty good as was this coconut potato dish whose name I’m unable to recall at the moment. They gave me a basket of naan as well. Service was pretty attentive and I enjoyed the rice pudding. By no means is this the best Indian food that I’ve ever had but it was pretty solid and I would go back if I ever have such a wide gap in the middle of my day.
