Academy Sports and Outdoors

I walked into Academy for the first time to look at gold clubs. I was impressed with the size and selection of the store. I walked over to the golf section and looked around for about 10 minutes or so. After about ten minutes, I was surprised that no employee had been over to see if I needed any help. I had a couple questions but no one to ask. I saw an employe walk in my direction but he wasn’t coming over to help me, but walking to another part of the store. I was disappointed in this. They have a large section in the golf section where you can try out different clubs, but it was closed and had a sign that said you needed to ask someone for help. Good luck.

I keep meaning to swing by here since it is close to home but it is just enough off of the beaten path for it to be an after-​thought once I zoom past. Finally, while on a quest for new shoes, I made the journey to Academy. Boy am I glad I did! The selections and prices were amazing! I had just come from another outdoors/​sports store just a few minutes away and was amazed to find out how much less expensive things were at Academy. Not just a little cheaper, I’m talking $ 10-​$ 20 cheaper for comparable or the EXACT SAME THING! I do not care if you are Warren Buffet or Bill Gates, who doesn’t like paying less for the same item? Show of hands? Okay, if you raised your hand, you are being foolish (and probably feel even sillier for raising your hand whilst reading my Unilocal review)…
Honestly, I felt like a much smarter shopper for getting out of this store with the items on my list and paying significantly less than what the competitor down the road charged. Service was friendly and efficient. Every employee we encountered greeted us and offered to assist in any way (but not in an overbearing way, just courteously and efficiently).
What I liked most (and my wallet liked less) was that I found things there that I didn’t even know I needed. You know what I mean — how you pass an item and wonder how you’ve lived without it when, up until that point, you had no clue said item ever existed? Yeah, there was a tad bit of impulse buying while I was there but it was so worth it because I am sure I saved a small fortune.
Now this place is nestled a bit off of Mt. Juliet Road (and on the north side — away from Providence) but there is plenty of signage to point you in the right direction. Go and get your sporting goods and other necessities here. While you’re at it, get that dehydrator you’ve had your eye on…

Place is so nice, friendly, and affordable that I actually got a job there. It just seemed like the place I wanted to be at. That tells you something when someone enjoys a place so much that they wanna spend hours there everyday. Come by and say hi sometime.

Great place. Employees do not recieve commission but still go out of their way to help the costumers. I found out that they do not even make near what they should make, but they are still great to the customers. The prices here kick Dicks out of the water

When I walk into Academy I instantly feel outdoorsy. I feel energized. I reminisce about my youthful days of playing softball and basketball. I envision a future where I will be playing tennis and volleyball wearing my perfectly matching sportswear and drinking from my super cool filtered water bottle. Academy Sports and Outdoors can make any of your «active lifestyle» dreams come true. They have everything: sports equipment, outdoor toys, work out clothing, shoes, etc. I haven’t actually purchased anything from there personally, but it’s nice to know that if I ever wish to «be active» all I need is this one-​stop shop. But for now, I think I’ll just go eat.
