I love that the winery and brewery are literally right next to each other. The tasting room/bar here is certainly more comfortable than the 1st floor of the winery. Weather was too cool and windy to sit outside but they had a nice open space with tables for that. At least one family braved the cold. This brewery was packed full of people on the Saturday afternoon that we went. I’m a fan of this place, but not so much the beers. I tried a flight of 6 beers. Would love to come back. BEERTASTING Farmers Daughter Blonde — Didn’t taste like a whole lot of anything certainly not like a farmers daughter, LOL! Lil’ Red — Not bad, not my favorite, but very drinkable Pumpkin Ale — Okay Honey Rye — Okay, but I didn’t really get the honey or rye flavor/scent Suicide Blonde — Definitely an IPA, very hoppy Vanilla porter — Chocolatey Delicious!

Every single beer we tried there was great. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the canned beer we brought home. EVERY.SINGLE.ONE(all 4 four packs) were skunked and flat. My husband emailed the brewery and they got back to him four days later and they appear ready to resolve the issue(not sure how yet as they wanted more info). Gave this place 4 stars because although the beer was amazing there, it sucks to get all the way home(40 miles away) and only have 16 cans ok skunked beer to show for it. Enjoy the beer there but can’t recommend taking any cans to go.

A few weeks ago and the wife decides that we are going to go wine tasting. We hop in the truck and point in a random direction(one of our favorite things to do), and away we go. We hit a few wineries that day and ended up at linganore and had a very nice wine tasting. Towards the end my wife mentioned that she was hungry and needed something to eat with all of the wine. We ordered a pizza and took a seat. After 20 mins I went to the counter to check on the pizza and to get a flight of beers to try. I was told that the pizza would be ready in a few minutes. After I finished my six sample beers, some very good, some I would not recommend at all. Still no pizza, I told my wife that for 40 minutes it better be a great pizza. My wife went up the second time and asked about it, and the counter man went to check. After about five minutes he came back with the pizza. It was not large 4 slices and tasted just like microwave pizza from the grocery store. There were no redeeming characteristics of this pizza. To sum up: Beer not bad, pizza… F NO

Worst brewery for craft beer on the east coast. Have been to many craft breweries up and down the coast and through the Midwest region, but this one is the worst of all. When we arrived after lunch time the place was vacant. Maybe that explains it. No customers… bad beer. Beer was not hoppy and flavorful. All the samples had the same taste to them. If you want good craft beer«TROEGS» in Hershey would be a better choice. Would not recommend.

Red Shedman is everything their neighbor Linganore is not. That’s really all you need to know. Instead of a packed house, you’ll find plenty of empty tables. Racks of overpriced wine tchotchkes give way to a bar that only sells beer and snacks. No picnicking soccer moms or packs of loud-talking college kids — just people chilling with a delicious pint. We did a tasting of a few different varieties, loved everything from the creamy vanilla porter to the spicy honey rye — and then shared a pint of their citrus cider, which was so good we purchased a growler to go. We also got an order of hummus to share — it was an entire container of hummus, locally made and delicious, plus gourmet crackers fanned out beautifully on a pretty plate. The ONLY negative about this place(besides its close proximity to Linganore) is that it’s only opened 24 hours each week. Make them count! Arrive early and stay late. Give them your business. Here’s hoping they add more hours as more people discover their quality brews and relaxed atmosphere. Cheers!

So we needed a break from the city life and I have been meaning to check this place out so we decided to take a drive out to Frederick. This place is located with the Linganore Winery. Red Shedman has a completely different tasting room then the winery and it is pretty nice and spacious. We bellied up to the bar and I went into the flights right away. Anytime I visit a brewery I try to taste as much as I can so I can get the full spectrum of what they are doing. I was excited to see that they had two bourbon barrel aged beers and even a cider. I won’t go into all the descriptions and tastings of all of the beer but to sum it up, they were just ok. The IPA was decent and the Vanilla Porter was good. The two bourbon barrel aged beers were really disappointed. The bourbon barrels didn’t impart that much flavor and that was a bummer. The staff here was awesome. Very friendly and helpful. They do offer some small plates of food like cheese and crackers, hummus, etc but mostly snacks. I would definitely recommend grabbing a brew and sitting outside to enjoy the peace and quiet of the brewery’s surroundings. Pro tip: You can bring our own food to enjoy while to sit and have some beers. There is also live music on Saturdays. If you get tired of the beer you can always walk next door to the winery. If you are in the area I would recommend checking this place out. Cheers!

This place was great! Family owned. Friendly staff. A bit busy this past Saturday so not a lot of time to talk with them about the beers, etc. We got the tasting of the 6 beers and 1 of the ciders. There is a sheet with a very accurate description of each beer. There was a vanilla stout which had tons of flavor and was very nice. A Christmas seasonal beer with some mild spices. Honey Rye which wasn’t my favorite but others loved it. An IPA which I enjoyed and a blonde ale which was also really nice. Additionally on tap and to try a sample they had an espresso stout. They had 2 ciders — one more fresh apple and the other more apple pie like. He allowed me to try both and I went with the apple pie — just a touch of cinnamon and sweetness. They serve small food items like chilli, hummus, salsa and chips. Live music every Saturday. Kids were there without a problem. They sell growlers to take home.

Huge fan and I know we will be regulars here! We stumbled upon the grand opening of Red Shedman during a winery excursion day and we were so excited to find it! During our first visit several of us had a flight, sampling all of their delicious homemade brews. I settled in on a pint of the Honey Rye. The 2nd visit was the day before Thanksgiving and it was snowing — when we left the house they were open, but little did we learn after the fact that they had actually decided to close due to the weather. Well, they didn’t mention they were closed when we arrived. In fact, Eric and Vic welcomed us in, gave us some background, shared with us future plans for the brewery, and let us drink and enjoy ourselves! The highlight of the afternoon were the samples of the Espresso Stout and Pulversizer Barrel Aged Beer that had been aged in bourbon barrels. I almost forgot about the cider… it was the flavor of a cup of hot apple cider, but cold and with a hint of beer… awesome! :-) Looking forward to going back to try the Pulverizer Honey Rye! The creativity and heart that goes into their process is obvious and makes it that much more enjoyable to drink.

Very excited to visit the new brewery at Linganore winery, Red Shedman. The newly opened brewery is quite a site to behold. Spacious open area inside over looks the grounds of the wine festival. With eight brews on tap there is certainly something for every beer aficionado to enjoy. When I first came in I was leaning towards the flight(six samples of their most popular beers, $ 7) but settled on the bourbon barrel stout instead because I’m not a big IPA fan. But after talking to Victor, head brew and a sample of the Pumphouse IPA, I’m convinced there may be a glimmer of hope for me when it comes to these style beers. Atmosphere was pleasant, staff friendly. I look forward to trying the barrel agreed honey rye, Victor informed me was in the process.
