My experiences there have been excellent. I have bought at least 15 fixtures from them — fans and lighting — and have had them do everything from order extra parts to cutting down stems to making recommendations based on furniture style, available space, existing fixtures, etc. Everything has been handled very professional, and the men who assist in the back room with wrapping and cutting down stems are outstanding! I can’t understand why others have not had the experiences I’ve had.

Closed — like so many other businesses right now along Dempster in Morton Grove. Jacobson has moved to Wheeling on Lake-Cook Road.

Horrible customer service. My wife and I selected a pendant light design they had on display. The lady said the color that we wanted didn’t come in that design, but a special order of a different design could get us that color. So she special ordered the item, but didn’t tell us the pendant was twice the size(they looked light basketballs)… what the heck!!! So we took them back and explained the situation that they were too big and not the size we expected, and they decided to order the design we originally wanted(but not the color we had wanted). At this point we just wanted to put up something since we had waited 6 weeks for the first wrong set. When we received the new items(again, another 6 weeks), I hung the first pendant… and when I went to open the box of the second pendant, the pendant glass was broken. WTF!!! OK, we can’t wait another 6 weeks. My wife took the broken set back and just wanted our money back. Two times and both times we had issues. The manager or owner, Steve, was rude. We explained the situation and he would not refund our money. He gave my wife that«oh, it’s you again» look when she went in there the third time with the broken set. Thanks for making us feel like a customer! I ended up buying the pendants online that look better than the stuff we tried to order at Jacobson and only took a week to arrive. Now we have a useless $ 250 store credit at Jacobson Electric that we don’t even want to use, nor do we even want to step into that place.

I guess they often have 50% sales. That is what attracted my family to come here to purchase two chandeliers. When we came in, there was a lady who worked there. She was not very helpful at all and seemed kind of annoyed when we would turn the lights on and off to see how they look. We were never showed any any books to show us other selections we could have made other than the ones in the show room. I don’t understand why it’s called jacobson electric services when she couldn’t even answer a simple question. We asked how we would be able to install a light fixture in our living room where there was never a fixture before. She just told us that it was easy but she doesn’t know how to do it. «you don’t need a college degree to install it!» So we purchased two lighting fixtures and she gave us the option of taking the ones right out of the showroom or getting brand new ones. «it doesn’t matter» is what she told us. Of course, if you have the option of getting it brand new, you would take it, right? well that’s what we did. She never told us how long it would take for it to be shipped. Three weeks later we called just to see if she knew when they would be getting in. Snappy lady replies«I will call you the second they come in!» She told us not to call and that she will call. Over a month, she still has no information for us. We had to call their corporate office and complain. found out this lady has been working there for 20 years. Maybe it’s time for you to find someone new with a more proactive customer service approach. The first fixture was ready well over a month and we just got the second one and now that is over two months. She kept talking down about menards and home depot. Even though those places don’t have good reputations for customer service, I think I would have preferred to go there. If you do buy something here… make sure to save yourself some time and get the ones directly off the sales floor! … and if you see that lady. tell her she’s a stinker!
