The Entemann’s Bakery Outlet is right on the border of Glenview, Morton Grove and Niles on Golf Rd in a shopping center full of other fun things. Growing up in Glenview, we always came to this outlet which was strangely down just a few doors but in the same strip mall. Well I just recently went to pick up some goodies for my coworkers and things really haven’t changed here which is a good thing. The Entenmann’s Outlet is a no frills shop. Baked goodies and carb full items are stacked on tables with different pricing depending on how close they are to their expiration date. I have no issue downing a box of donuts in a few days so bring on the cheap buys! The cheapest they have for these donuts and coffee cakes is 4/$ 5 or $ 1.69 each. Um… I want those extra quarters so I will always be getting the 4/$ 5 deal. Loaves of bread are typically 99c, bagels are 99c and there is a plethora of other baked items on sale. You never know what you’re going to get! There is usually just one person working the floor and when I went it was a very nice lady, no qualms on service at all. As if their cheap prices weren’t enough, they have a rewards card! Once you reach a certain amount of spending(I believe it’s $ 30ish), you get $ 5 free in goods from the outlet!

Pros: Good prices. Cons: Don’t care about keeping your credit card data safe. Still using the old swipe technology rather than the secure chip technology.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I shop for bread at the Entenmann’s outlet on Golf Road. They definitely have the best prices around for baked bread, pastries, buns, etc. The price of their products goes down as each item nears its pull date; so you can find some products going for as low as 50 cents if they are being sold on the very last code day. They use a high tech system to identify products by freshness code. They draw stripes on the package that classify the product by its apparent freshness date. Each price grouping is identified by the color of the marker stripe. I can’t remember their code rules, but I recall green, blue, black, and red. In addition, they issue you a punch card for subsequent purchases. Once the card is punched to meet a certain limit, you get a few items free. Such a deal.

I finally had a chance to get up to the Morton Grove location since the Chicago Addison Mall location closed. Great news… the lovely woman that used to manage the Chicago store has relocated to Morton Grove and is still as sweet as ever. She never fails to put a smile on the face of everyone she takes care of. She’s told me that quite a few people from Chicago have made the trip to Morton Grove and that their sales are booming. While it might be Chicago’s loss to see our old store close, at least we have an alternative. The store itself is much the same as the old one; bare-bones, no-frills, and fantastic prices on all things Entenmann’s /Brownberry /etc. Still have the discount punch cards; Monday is still Double Points Day! Same bargains we’ve come to know and love. GLUTENISKING !!!

LOVEIT! Brownberry, Thomas’, Entenmann’s, Boboli… all the baked stuff you buy in the grocery store at nearly half the cost! This is my little gem! I get those new skinny bagles by Thomas’, my kids get Entenmann’s breakfast bars, all my bread… it’s good stuff and saves me SO much money! The staff is so nice too, and really helpful! The best part is that you get this little frequent buyers card when you go in there and get punches for every $ you spend, when the card is filled you get 2 free items… yes, you’re saving to begin with and a couple of bucks may not seem like much, but with 6 people in my house, we go through a ton of bread every week and it’s nice to get it without paying super market prices or having to by the store brand.
