I eat here all the time, they have the best fries in morro bay that’s for sure. Good salads too. Very hard working, friendly staff that really care about your expierence here. I would recommend this place.

The side salad was amazing… The fish ~deep fried ~was pretty good. The beer was great, service was great, and the view was the best.

Although our waiter was a little strange, my party of four and I were all very happy with our food. I ordered the Seafood Linguini and was satisfied with the overall quality of the scallops and fish; however, the shrimp was overcooked and lacking in flavor. Not a bad experience, but nothing to write home about.

A shout out to GAFCO, where you can find THEBESTCOSMOPOLITAN, EVAH.(No matter which awesome bartender is working) Hub’s drink is a crown and coke and is never weak when ordered here. It’s a pleasure indeed to frequent a ‘tried and true staple of Morro Bay’. The dinner specials are varied and surprising sometimes! A few nights ago I ordered the Lamb with mushroom risotto and it was delicious. It was topped with an exquisite sauce… impressive. Hub always orders a steak, usually Rib Eye rare and he has never sent it back. Says alot right there… My favorite dinner special of late though is the Salmon with orange-basil, ohhh sooo good.(Please keep this on your menu gafco!!!) I get the rice and veggies with it every time but there are other sides to choose from. GAFCO is becoming our 2 – 3 night a week ‘go-to spot’! Very welcoming and consistent service is much appreciated by us. Love this place!!!(Did I mention the cosmo??? Mm mm mm)

Saw«Baitco» rodent bait station through the glass looking into the kitchen on way out of restaurant. It was clearly labeled bait station on a green box on floor where food was being prepared. Not cool. Never going to return. Wasn’t sure where I got food poisoning at morrow bay last year. I think I just figured it out on this return trip. One star is too many stars. Really this place is so proud of their kitchen they provide a window to view your food being cooked and overlooked a rodent bait station in clear view. DISCUSTING.

Food was mediocre and expensive. The wait was long, and décor was dingy. Only plus was the view. Overall there are so many better options in the area, don’t waste your time with this place.

Last Saturday Dec 26 around 4pm. Waitress was blonde and came across as not really wanting to be at work. The busboy deserved the tip and kudos. He refilled our drinks checked on when our food would arrive. He returned and said they were plating our food and about 10 minutes later the food arrived. COLD. And she didn’t remember who ordered what. Only 3 people 2 ordered the same thing. I wondered if they were waiting for baked potatoes to be done but if we had been informed we might of understood. As it was the potatoes were steaming but not done.

Just waited with my fiancé for like 20 minutes and was completely ignored by all the servers in particular, and older male with white facial hair. Rude. Heard the food was good but I’m not impressed with the service here. Not to mention, we are locals.

Waitress and drink order taker were strange!!! She said she was going to take a while to take care of us because it’s the busiest time of the year and she would do the best she could. The place was half empty! Coconut shrimp YUM!!! Fish tacos YUK! Not like it used to be! Bummer

This place close to where we were staying so we walked there, which was nice. Got there on a Saturday night right at dinner time, and the wait was short, which was good. Service was good. Food was okay, nothing out of this world, but the rolls they served before the meal came out, could have been better. They seemed stale, I’m a huge bread fan, and only took one bite and left the rest. Next time we are in Morro Bay, we will most likely check out another place. Not quite that impressed.

I can not believe this dump is in business. The interior is tired and the staff comes across as unprofessional. From the Host who didn’t spend too much time on her appearance for her shift. In looking at the menu I was craving Salmon but I wasn’t 100% sure of this place so I ordered fish and chips. I was picturing 3 long pieces of cod hot and crispy. We ordered drinks and started to visit when out of the kitchen comes this power tool grinding noise it was so loud we couldn’t hear each other speak. Mine you its 4:30 pm on a thursday. We ask«why now with the construction» and the waiter check and returned stating just a few more minutes. We threatened to leave if it continued. It stopped so we ordered. I wish we did leave once our fish and chips arrived it was pathetic. How do u f#$k up fish and chips? The fish had no crunch rubbery and the pieces were the size of a half dollar! Moments after the meals arrived guess what? The power tool noise returned. We asked to speak to the owner. He came to our table and showed no interest in our concern or offered us an apologize couldn’t even look at us face to face when talking then walked away. I guess we interrupted him from his drinking buddies in the bar. A decent thing to do is maybe offer a round of drinks or take a meal off our check. Nothing. When visiting Morro Bay stay away from«Great American Fish Company» which it isn’t! I’d give this a «NO» star but you can’t.

I am a local, and I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. It used to be one of my favorite places to go. I have to say I seldom come anymore. Over the years the food has stayed consistently great, but the prices have gone up to the point of being outrageous. I think most of their business now comes from tourists who are willing to pay ridiculous prices, but they charge like they are a very high end restaurant… and it’s not. It’s a basic seafood place with a lovely view. The servers are very good, but the overall quality of the staff that run the place has declined over the years. It has likely transitioned in ownership over the years. The grilled seafood is excellent but I won’t pay what they want for it.

Trust a local. Don’t waste your time or money here. Go somewhere else. Pros: view, that’s about it. service was okay Cons: mediocre food, rude owner, wayyyyyy overpriced Suggestions of other places to go(from a local who has been to almost every restaurant in town): Dockside, Hungry Fisherman, Giovanni’s, Windows on the Water, Flying Dutchman, Dorn’s, or the Sea Shanty in Cayucos. All of these provide MUCH better food at better prices. If you’re just looking for a view, even check out Rose’s Landing which I consider to be the bottom of what you can get on the Embarcadero. Food is about as mediocre as this place, but you will literally pay half the price. Quality: small portions, soggy fries that looked like what you’d get with a school lunch, flavorless clam chowder. You can’t mess up oysters, so that was good. Prawns were overcooked. I ordered a scoop of ice cream and it’s the fake kind of ice cream that you get from the dollar store or a pharmacy. Bottom tier stuff. Overpriced: $ 60 for 6 oysters, cup of clam chowder, prawns, and a slice of key lime pie. Rude owner: I was going here for a celebration dinner with my wife. The place was not very busy for a Thursday night, but there were definitely some tables filled up by the windows. I asked the host if it would be okay to sit at a newly refinished booth that was out of the sun and away from the crowd so that my wife and I could relax and have some nice conversation. The table was a 5-top, which I realize can be annoying to have a couple sit in if a restaurant were busy, or if they had reservations. I asked the host if it was okay and he said totally. Just to be safe, I asked again«are you sure this isn’t taking up too much real estate?» It wasn’t busy so he said go right ahead. About a minute after we sat down, I heard the owner rudely chew out the hostess for seating me there. The overweight host responded in an even more loud way, «I know, they insisted on sitting there.» Really dude? I asked politely and would have gladly sat anywhere else. When the server came back, I asked if there were any reservations on this table, or if they were expecting anyone, and she said no, and that it won’t be busy tonight(which it wasn’t). Shame on you owner for talking about customers right in front of them. Should have left then… For the price, you could get way better quality food literally anywhere else in Morro Bay. You could sit down and have beautifully made, hand crafted gourmet meals from Gian Carlos, or get some take out from any of the other many restaurants in Morro Bay and eat by the rock.

Oh man, this place was great! The bar: The bartender seemed to be very busy. We were in the cocktail area, and weren’t sure if there was a cocktail server or not, so we waited at the bar a while before sitting, and then realized there wasn’t. It’s ok, our bad. The restaurant: Gorgeous view of the Bay. I’d never been there before but the scene was amazing. Seals were splashing around outside, and it was adorable. The table bread was tasty, a honey wheat roll I believe. I only had one to save room for the rest of the meal. My friend and I split everything, which I recommend so you can order more items and not be as full. To drink we had a bottle of Kenwood Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a great wine for seafood. Not too sweet, and not too dry. First we ordered ½ dozen half shell oysters. They were very fresh, but we weren’t certain of what kind they were, our server never told us, but we also forgot to ask. A few other people at he table ordered chowder, so being jealous we decided to split a cup of that as well. Oh. My. God. Order a cup for 1 – 2 people. It’s rich. But it was amazing. By far, the best New England clam chowder I’ve ever had. They also have the red kind if you’re into that. I like to add a ton of black pepper to mine, and out of nostalgia, added the oyster crackers. Yum. Lastly, we split the scallop skewers with rice pilaf and mixed veggies. The vegetables were mostly squash and zucchini, but were sautéed well. The rice was tasty, and the skewers were perfect. I love scallops, and they did a wonderful job!!! We didn’t order dessert, but I’m sure it would have been great. We had a large party, and got to sit in a booth that was events cent of the«Captains Quarters.» I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this restaurant for children, but there were a few kids there.

It is a family tradition that we eat here the first night of our vacation. This year it happened to fall on Father’s Day. We arrived around 6:00pm & I was surprised that the wait was only 10 – 15 minutes. We were seated at a nice table in the center aisle. My preference would have been a window seat but we still had a nice view. My husband & I ordered the fish & chips(I had the baked potato, he had the fries). It also came with roasted vegetables & dinner rolls. Our son ordered chicken strips. He only had a few bites of the chicken but he enjoyed the roasted veggies & dinner rolls. Our food came out pretty quickly. It was hot & delicious. There was enough food left over to take home & enjoy as a separate meal. The price was a bit spendy but that should be expected when you are eating at a nicer restaurant, in Morro Bay, with a nice view.

This place has pretty decent food, but the wait time the last the we went was insane. We came in about 7 and didn’t even get our food till about 8. We had a pretty simple order, I think. I ordered a grilled cheese(don’t judge me), and my husband ordered fish and chips. That’s it. While we were waiting we had the opportunity to watch a very lovely drunken fight, which is why I provided the extra star. This guy is literally passing out on his girlfriend’s shoulder because he is so drunk. I casually pointed him out to my husband, we snickered and continued on with our conversation. Five minutes later this guy was belligerently screaming about illegal immigrants and not wanting to pay $ 27 an hour to have someone cut his lawn. Everyone at the table looked pretty uncomfortable, as well as everyone else in the restaurant, but me? I thought it was a pretty great performance. The guy also felt the need to throw in that he’s from Bakersfield. Well thanks, dude. As if us Bakersfield-ians don’t look bad enough from the BROS that smother Pismo Beach in their bro-dozers, now we all look like drunken lunatics. Thanks for doing us a solid bro, appreciate it. He then ended the argument with, «YOUCANPAYFORYOUROWNFOOD» and left. That’s when I really cracked up. I don’t think the party appreciated my laughter, but I just couldn’t help it. At that moment I really wished I had gotten a decent vine video out of it, but that completely slipped my brain. All in all, it was a great trip. If this restaurant provided this kind of performance every time we visited, I would literally flock to this place every time I am in Morro Bay. What more could you ask for? A solid grilled cheese and a great show. Good job GAFC, you exceeded my expectations once again! Edited: I added a 5th star just because of Travis. Thank you for addressing my review. You don’t have to apologize for the behavior of others, it was just very interesting lol. We go about once or twice a year and usually visit your establishment. We’ve always been happy. :)

I’ve only been to the bar here. It was a crowded sunny day and I wanted a quiet lunch. It’s a local’s bar. Me and 2 others in there. The attention the staff provided was amazing. Great people! Food and beer selection was nice.

Decent restaurant with nice view of Morro Bay. Ask for window seating when you make a reservation. Looks like they take walk-ins too. Nice selection of fish entrees but prices were way too high for the quality of the food. Clearly you are paying for the location(on the water). I don’t recommend getting a salad as an entrée. While the seafood was fresh, the choice of salad dressings was just average and didn’t really compliment the seafood. Skipped dessert here and got locally made ice cream at another place a few doors down.
