I’m not a huge sushi fan but I love this place for the noodle bowls they offer. Their menu also has Korean food which I am dying to try next time I go. Although I’m not the biggest lover of sushi I did try their avocado bomb filled with spicy tuna and it may have changed my opinion about sushi– it was so delicious! Will be back and recommending to others.

So. I don’t want to tell everyone how much we love this place because then the secret will get out, they will get busy and we won’t get a table. As I have said in past reviews, you have to give a restaurant more then 1 visit to be a fair reviewer since it is possible to have a bad night… you’re not perfect every second of every day right? ;) Well, we gave this place many chances and dang it if they didn’t get it right every single time. The biggest con of this restaurant… there is so many delicious sounding things on the menu it is hard to choose! The most adventurous roll that will sound like a hot mess, but will leave you wanting another and another is the Pier 17 roll… mozzarella cheese in sushi??? YES. The roll is heavenly! They always have specials and my husband always tries something off the specials menu. I am partial to the Gop Dol Bi Bim Bap. This comes in a very hot stone bowl and that makes all the difference from the regular Bi Bim Bap. The service is very friendly and attentive. We have gone here many times and highly recommend you stop in and try them out! Laku Sushi, thank you for putting out consistent and delicious food every time! We look forward to dining with you again real soon! I noticed someone mentioned that they raised prices 3 times since opening for ‘no apparent reason’ Unilocalers, do you know how much it costs to run a business, let alone a restaurant? Net time you are at your local restaurant where you are friendly with the owner, ask him or her about rent, taxes, payroll, utilities, equipment, ingredients and so on. Most people are oblivious to the fact that eggs prices shot up in some cases over 300% over the last year. Food costs rise, rent goes up. If you want cheap sushi go to shoprite, if you want quality, it will cost you a little extra… but it’s worth it isn’t it? Laku. you guys are worth it! keep doing a great job!

Who would have thought there was a nice sushi establishment hidden behind Staples. A friend recommended this place for their amazing food(obviously) and emphasized how hospitable the staff was. He was right about both things. For two, we ordered the Laku Chef Special, an additional special roll, and miso soup. It was more than enough food and the price was great.

Warm and welcoming are the two best words to describe it here. For my first time eating sushi, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. The options are endless. The staff is extremely friendly especially Brian, who helped me pick out my first ever real sushi dish and was polite and patient with me the whole time. Perfect place to go out on a date or just a night out. Can’t wait to go back

I’ve been here a few times while visiting with family in NJ as their go-to sushi spot. After just one visit, it’s so easy to see why! The owner/wait staff are all very attentive and nice. The parking situation is decent(they have their own lot shared with the rest of the stores in the strip). Menu selection is really extensive — you can have sushi, sashimi, maki, and both japanese or korean rice/noodle entrees! In addition to all those positives, and most importantly, the food is excellent. All the sushi items on the menu have been super fresh and have a great rice/filling ratio. We’ve ordered a sushi boat(party platter) for the table, which was really nicely done. Individual roll combos are filling and cater to most sushi needs. This time around, in addition to some sushi, I was able to try some of the ramen and seafood pancake. Everything I’ve consumed at Laku has been good! Finally, the pricing of all the items on the menu is quite fair. The sushi combos/party platters are well priced, as are all the other main entrée options. You get the typical korean banchans, and often get a bunch of free sample rolls or other random items too! Bottom Line: I’d definitely check this place out at least once if you haven’t been yet. Your stomach will very likely be satisfied! Tip: Come early and/or make a reservation, esp on weekends, as the lunch crowd really fills in and the place gets crowded!

After coming to this establishment quite a few times after my first review, and hearing my boyfriends POV, I would like to update. With many options for sushi in Morristown, I would adamantly suggest not going to Laku. My boyfriend has picked up lunch from here 20+ times. We have finally had enough of their poor customer service, inconsistent quality and above all price fluctuation. They have raised their prices three times since opening without cause and are RUDE. With much better options in the area I would suggest skipping Laku Sushi!

So this post is LONG overdue. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. I have now been here a handful of times with my husband when we are in the area. This has now become our place for sushi. I don’t even want to try anywhere else because each time eating here has succeeded our expectations and beyond. First I’ll mention how delicious the sushi is. You’ve got to try the Finding Nemo. Try it :) The waiters/waitresses have always been so friendly and extremely attentive. They have given us complimentary food and sushi samples on the house every time we have been here. I’m not sure if they always do this, but it is so nice of them and I admire that. Please try this place out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed! I wish we lived closer because we would seriously be coming weekly!

I have to hand it to this place. They are still doing exceptionally well in a town where there are plenty of other sushi restaurants. Not too long after I wrote my original review, they began using regular sized glasses for water! Yay! They still give out a free sushi roll sample and some rice noodle salad while you are waiting for your meal which I think is such a nice thing to do. I’m still obsessed with the salmon tartar. My favorite rolls are: Tom & Dawn, Alaska Mountain, Sunshine, Cinderella, Morristown, and Shrek(ask for them to ease up on the spicy mayo though). Make sure you order the Gop Dol Bi Bim Bap — it’s amazing! My bf made the mistake of ordering the Bi Bim Bap which comes with ground beef — definitely not as good as the steak you can choose with the Gop Dol… besides, the hot stone bowl is BOSS!

People really like Laku Sushi. I am with those people. There are a lot of reviews here, and they highlight all the good stuff… great menu, great fish, great people. It’s what you want from a good sushi place. Here’s what really makes me like them… open until 10pm on Sunday. That’s a win, AND they don’t flinch if you show up at 9pm on Sunday(which for me, for some reason keeps happening). That’s great. My highlight is the hamachi dream roll. I will say however that they don’t get the 5 star, because I think they over use ‘mushy’ fish for their spicy hamachi, or spicy maguro, etc. I’m okay in one roll, or it used just a bit, but it’s in a TON of their rolls, and it’s just not my favorite style. Ultimately, just go… it’s great!

The sushi and service here is so on point! Very nice ambience and friendly service. I’ve never seen such long list of sushi options, so we ordered«Finding Nemo» and«Try Me» just because the names sound interesting. Those were really good! We were also given 2 pcs sashimi on them, which we never really figured out why other than I guess they’re just generous. And at the end of our meal, we were also given those little bottles of Korean probiotic drinks which I really like. As I glanced through the menu, I realized that they also serve a handful of Korean dishes. Gotta come back for those next time!

Wonderful place. Heard great reviews from a couple of friends, so I decided to give it a try and it was even better than expected. The regular rolls I ordered(spicy salmon and spicy eel) were more like special rolls, the presentation was awesome and the taste even more so. Service was also exceptional — granted, we did come in around 4pm when the restaurant was pretty much empty. They gave us a couple of pieces of the Finding Nemo roll for free and that was delicious as well. All in all, highly recommended! :)

Came here this past weekend based on the amazing reviews and the reviews don’t lie. I’m a fan! Besides the restaurant being extremely warm upon walking in, everything else was perfect — the ambiance, friendly staff and food. I love the fact that it’s a Japanese & Korean restaurant combined and still can maintain the quality of the sushi. From my previous experiences with other fusion restaurants that have a sushi bar, the sushi is just usually sub par. Prices here are not that cheap but you pay for the quality here. They also do give you 10% off your bill if you spend over $ 30 and pay with cash. I’m a special roll type of gal so I decided to go with the party platter option(it’s the best deal in my opinion, I saved $ 10!) and got the 3 special rolls for $ 35. I ordered the Scotty Special Roll, Morristown Roll and Sashimi Roll(great for those who don’t want rice!). I enjoyed all 3 special rolls very much and I also had the Spicy Tuna roll which is always a good choice. I also got the Avocado Bomb with spicy salmon inside and it was phenomenal. I highly recommend getting it. It’s delicious and so refreshing. I also got Jap Chae on the house while the sushi was being made and later on when I was ready for my check, there was Biofeel yogurt drinks on the house(brings back childhood memories)! I feel that Laku already knows me and is aware that the way to my heart is through my stomach. Can’t wait to come back. Oh and FYI — it’s BYOB! :)

Sashimi is definitely fresh, which is probably the most important factor when eating raw fish. I took away a star because they don’t serve alcohol and they generally charge for miso soup refills. The service is awesome! Very polite and friendly. I live in the DC/Northern VA area. If I compare this Korean sushi house to others in my area, I would’ve given this place 3 stars. However, I gave it 4 stars because it’s in Morristown and I’m assuming there isn’t very many good korean sushi places around town.

Wow the table wasn’t large enough for all the spicy good stuff! And the Laku menu had all kinds of words that were new to me lol so here’s a Korean food cheat sheet: Banchan: side dish(literally), small dishes of veg and spicy goodies to be shared with the meal. Bibimbap: warm white rice topped with veggies, chili paste and a fried egg Galbi: marinated grilled beef ribs Japchae: sweet-potato noodles stir-fried with sesame oil Sundubu jjigae: hot and spicy soft tofu stew with an egg, optionally add more protein like seafood Tako-su: octopus Ok? Ready for the quiz? Meet me there and I’ll test you on the spot :) Don’t miss the Kama Combo app — two grilled fish collars, that’s the piece behind the head and gills, yet another new word for me lol. This app has a perfectly cooked yellowtail collar and a salmon collar, both on the bone — worth fighting over! Not nasty little splintery things, these are big chunky bones and the meat falls off. Fantastic, a steal at $ 10. I highly recommend the avocado bomb app! This is an enormous lump of tuna tartar, layered in paper-thin slices of ripe avocado, some greens and carrots on the side, sauce over everything — like a special roll but hold the rice and nori :), more than enough for two people, $ 9.50. Our banchan included broccoli in a sesame sauce, kimchi, snap peas with slivers of pork, cucumber(I think) in red sauce, marinated bok choy, plus an extra dish of spicy red sauce. The chili paste in my bibimbap bowl was deeply rich and just appropriately spicy, not head crushing nor fire starting, very very good. Rice, veg and I chose octopus; it was a bit chewier than I might have liked but still very good. Vegetarian rating: 4 stars, you actually do have many hot & cold choices including salads, kimchi, veggie rolls like avocado or cucumber, veg tempura, veg fried rice, assorted vegetable bibmbap, soondubu hold the meat, veg udon soup, tofu vegetable teriyaki, oh and kimchi. I love kimchi! We finished with tiny little bottles of a yogurt drink called Biofeel, basically a shot of creamsicle, great. I’m finally starting to see why Laku is kicking so much butt in the Morristown rankings, it’s outstanding, I’m a new fan and not just because of all the free food they brought out.

We came here craving Japanese but ended up tempted by the Korean offerings. I would give this place 3.5 stars, as the food was good but not stellar for the price. I ended up ordering the beef bibimbap in a stone pot, while my uncle had the soon dubu(soft tofu/soon tofu) chigae. The chigae was good, but he made the mistake of ordering it mild(perhaps it’s because we’re not Korean so they really watered down the broth haha). Usually ordering it mild in Korean restaurant back in Toronto still means there’s a slight kick to it, but it was a little too bland. The beef bibimbap was very yummy… but it wasn’t traditional bibimbap! Usually the dish will have a variety of fresh veggies(cucumbers, carrots, radish) sliced finely and served with the meat and a raw egg on top, which is then mixed all together in the hot stone pot. What I got was basically beef bulgogi with a fried egg on a bed of rice :( Would definitely give this place a second chance though since it seems that the food itself is of good quality.
