I wish that they had more options for food. It smelled delicious inside and the oven looked really cool. But they didn’t have too many options for breakfast and scones and it was only 11:30am so I only walked out with a baguette which was delicious and still very warm.

This is my morning stop for a cup of coffee and possibly a scone(if I feel like indulging that day!). There are two tables to sit at outside but would love if there were something inside or more seating out. Delicious scones and a nice variety of hot beverages to choose from.

You can’t go wrong here. The Ciabatta bread is out of this world. Perfect crust. We’ve had several other breads too. All winners. Scones are great. Straight coffee is better than Starbucks(but they sell Sbux instant, too) Their pizza is the best gourmet pizza in Morgantown, hands-down. We usually get the Acropolis, but have had the Flammenkuche, Kilohana and others. All great. I just wish they had a sit-down area to enjoy it fresh out da oven. I think they do outside in the summer. Morgantowns real bread bakery.

My wife and I have tried to patronize local business as much as possible in a small city. New Day Bread has given us a lot of bread(even dating back to before the current owners) over the years, and we have always been satisfied with the product and recommended dozens of other people to purchase bread and pizzas there. THis morning, we had a horrible experience. My wife, who was born with a minor disability of not having a thumb, called to make a Thanksgiving dinner roll order. Being right beside her when she made the call, it was a polite request for rolls, nothing else was said on either end of the phone. The nasty person who took her order accidentally did not hang up the phone, called her a curse word, and said«I guess she can’t make her own rolls since she doesn’t have a thumb». To her knowledge, nothing negative has ever happened between the two. Regardless, it is now 2014. Even though we might be in West Virginia, you would think a local business could refrain from discriminatory slurs against people with disabilities. Guess we will have to buy bread at Panera if we don’t want to be stigmatized.

I went to the New Day Bakery for the first time yesterday and was really impressed. It is small and there isn’t a huge menu or a lot of places to sit but the food and drink was quality! A neat little place – there is a table on the porch of the house to sit!

Such good bread. I went here weekly for fresh baked bread. Try to Italian, I don’t think I ever actually got around to making anything with it because I would just eat it plain out of the bag.

Great breads — especially the stuffed ciabattas. As for the pizza, it’s one of the better places in town — always flavorful, though sometimes too weighed down by the toppings and a bit on the sloppy side. Overall, though, a good option for carry-out.

The West Virginia Wheat pizza crust is amazing! So is the house coffee. You can buy the coffee by the pound and you’ll definitely want to! I’ve never tried any of the other baked goods or the breads, but the pizza and coffee are good enough to convince me that this is a fantastic find. The wheat crust makes the best pizza in Morgantown. I’ve also had the white crust. It was fine, but not nearly as impressive as the wheat crust.

New Day is a tale of two missions. On the one hand, there’s the wood-fire pizza(carry-out only) and on the other, the coffee and pastries. One afternoon, I decided to go try out the second of the two options while getting some work done. When I think of bakery, I think of open-air seating, hot coffee, and an hour or two of reading among the dull-roar of conversation. This is not the case with New Day Bakery. To New Day’s credit, their modus operandi is keeping it simple. A small kitchen adjacent to a small corner of coffee and pastries. We ordered a chocolate croissant and two coffees. I had just purchased an overpriced croissant, so I didn’t feel like buying a water bottle. Instead, I asked for a cup of tap water. The man behind the counter simply said, «Sorry, we don’t have that.» I’m not sure if he meant cups or tap water, but I would assume they had running water somewhere in the joint. And as for cups, there was an inordinate supply of paper and plastic cups directly beside his head. Whey he wouldn’t offer tap water, I have no idea. We then retired to the porch, where the one and only table was fortunately vacant. The table itself was very dirty, as were the chairs. The coffee was lukewarm at best. I realize it was about 1pm, but if you’re going to sell coffee in the afternoon, at least make sure it’s hot. The chocolate croissant was decent, though the chocolate inside was completely melted(the deli case must have been unable to keep it cool surrounded by the hot temperature of New Day’s kitchen/coffee shop). Outside, we sat for fifteen or twenty minutes before deciding to leave. I threw away my coffee half-finished. I am ready and willing to give New Day a second chance, of course, especially considering that I have yet to try their pizza. Based on the reviews, I’d say there’s a good chance my opinion will be somewhat redeemed. But given the strangely curt cashier and the overall experience of my first visit, I couldn’t really give this place more than 2 stars for now. As for coffee in Morgantown, there are several better options.

I visited New Day Bakery for the first time yesterday and was very excited to find a local bakery I can go to. Starting off, the service was very friendly and the atmosphere was quaint and inviting. I ordered a pizza with multiple toppings and a mexican chocolate cookie. I patiently waited for the pizza to be cooked in their oven while having friendly conversation with the staff. On the way home with the pizza, the aroma of garlic(yes, I added extra) and homemade bread filled my car which was still present this morning.Mmmm. The pizza was mildly overcooked with a few burnt pieces and the bottom of a few slices were chewy from the overcooking. However, the flavor of the toppings in combination with homemade sauce and fresh ingredients made me almost forget about the burnt pieces. I would rate the pizza four stars. For dessert I separated the Mexican chocolate cookie into half and poured a cold glass of milk, but I couldn’t resist eating the other half after tasting the moist, decadent chocolate cookie, which I would easily rate five stars. I will be returning to this bakery again to try another pizza and MANY more cookies! Definitely check out this great local bakery.

Fresh baked breads and pastries made on site with only the finest ingredients. Staffed by genuinely friendly people who are more than willing to help you in any way they can. They serve pizza during certain times of the week and wow is it amazing. Some of the best in the area if not the best. This is what happens when people who really care about what they do go into the busienss of making food. I am just happy I get to eat their delicious treats.

I’m a total bread snob, and this bread is the best in West Virginia. They also have excellent coffee, scones, and pizza. Everything is real food — all natural and extremely tasty. Prices are a bit high, but completely worth it for what you get. Whenever anyone visits Morgantown, I recommend they stop here and pick up a few loaves!

While visiting Morgantown, we stopped by New Day Bakery for our morning coffee. This cute bakery operates in a facility that looks like it could have been a house in its former life. Inside, the personality from the face of the bakery continues on to the inside where straight ahead, you can see the wood burning oven they use for their pizza(I wish we were there late enough to sample their pizzas. I heard it was amazing.) For folks from California, you will understand when I say that this has a «Berkeley feel» to it. Fresh baked pastries and breads, signed with cute neon signs on black cards. I ended up getting a lemon raspberry scone. Delicious! Their coffee is good as well. I ordered a Mexican Mocha which kept me up and hyper for a good half of the day. It took forever to make, which isn’t really a bad statement because the reason why it took forever to make was because the co-owner/barista was having a converstation with us. It’s a nice pace for a change than being shoo-ed away fast from a chain coffee shop =)

The have really quirky breads somedays when I go in and they end up being really good! I like the cranberry almond bread, froze it and ate it everyday! They have a great selection and real quality products.

I came here for breakfast. Good coffee and espresso drinks, and an assortment of muffins and scones that you can eat on their front porch.

Okay if you don’t have a local bakery, It’s just hard to explain the difference between that stuff you buy in the supermarket and the stuff that rolls out of a place like this. Don’t get me wrong we still buy grocery store bread for kid’s lunchbox sandwiches. But bread from a bakery is just heavenly. I highly recommend the Sourdough. I believe it’s available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. For a complete list hit there website calendar( ). I can also recommend the Biscotti. They are great with a hot beverage. I prefer tea but I’m sure they are great with coffee also. In particular I like the almond ones. They also sell pizza and coffee.

BEST pizza in Morgantown! The brick oven pizza is wonderful. The breads are super good too. I don’t know which is my favorite because they all are so good! We change it up from time to time but the Margarita pizza is one we always get! It’s always fun to make your own too! The breads are awesome but you have to be careful because they make different ones different days of the week! Don’t forget about the scones and biscotti! YUMMM-O! The only bad thing is that they don’t make the pizzas until 4:00:(!!! It is a little pricey but it’s SO worth it! Love this place!
