My fiancé and I went a few weeks ago, and this place was fantastic. The wines were good, the rye was even better, the tasting was waaaaay generous, and the tour was awesome. The staff and owners were really friendly. Also, there was absolutely NO snobbery at this place. I felt comfortable asking questions about the wine and how it was made, which isn’t often the case at wineries.

Very personable and friendly staff working there! Also a great variety of wines to choose from. I enjoyed my visit to here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon while in Morgantown, WV.

One of my favorite wineries! We go out of our way to pick up forks of cheat wine. Van Buren is one of our favorites, but we REALLY like bad cat. I highly recommend!

Don’t Go!!! Can I give this place negative stars? Service from the lady working there was very very bad! My wife and I enjoy going to wineries while on vacation and trying new wines and learning about the winery. But… From the moment we walked into the tasting room the lady working there was rude and just unfriendly. I asked about grapes they grow and got a smart @$$ answer. I ask about the moonshine while we were tasting wines and AGAIN for a very smart @$$ answer. I would not recommend visiting or buying anything!!!

I just recently hosted a viewing and reception of the«Hollow» documentary in the U.S. Capitol, and I am so thankful that we were able to provide some of Forks of Cheat Winery’s award-winning moonshine for the event. I couldn’t get enough of the Apple Pie Moonshine and neither could any of the 250+ guests. Not only do they have incredibly tasty, quality products, but the staff at Forks of Cheat is very kind and accommodating. Thank you again for providing beverages for our event. –Joe Manchin

It was raining when we got to the winery. The view is awesome. Only liked one red wine. The wine tasting is free. Staff very friendly and helpful. My husband finally found a wine he like(pomegranate wine). Unable to get the tour of the winery due to bad weather(tour is outdoors). Definitely would like to go back when the weather is better.

Our experience was quite different than the previous reviews. We were met first by Oscar the cat who obviously approved of us and allowed us to enter into his domain, and boy are we glad that we did. We found the staff to be helpful and knowledgeable .we love sweet wines and were not disappointed with the variety that we tasted. The view is amazing and we are now headed back to stop on our way back home.

I read the other reviews and felt bad that they received bad service. When I arrived, the staff was super friendly and answered all my questions about their product. The wine tastings were free. I really like their semi-dry red wines and dry reds. It has a great taste and was smooth. We were also able to try Apple Pie Moonshine. It was so delicious. I ended up getting 3 bottles of wine and a bag of roasted coffee. They were about to close and I wanted to drink a glass of wine out in the patio, the owner did not mind and told us we can stay as long as we want. The patio has gorgeous greenery/plants. The location of the winery sits on top of the west Virginia mountains, absolutely gorgeous. I would definitely come back here and would recommend it to others to consider and give it a chance. An awesome experience.

I am an educated wine drinker. I started a wine club over 10 years ago that focused on wine education. Given that, I’m picky. I found 1 white wine that I think would make a nice apéritif. It is not overly sweet, but drinkable without food. I brought home a bottle of that and a bottle of the blackberry liqueur. The location is LOVELY! They have a nice deck overlooking the mountains. This would be a nice place to hang out with a glass of wine and listen to music in the summer. ~Christine Zellers CEO, LBDC

Worst customer treatment I’ve ever experienced. As my family, wife and two adult children and sons’ girlfriend the man who was behind the wine bar just stared and said nothing! We were stunned at such a poor and unfriendly greeting. As we checked the wines out in the displays all this rude man did was stare coldly and arrogantly at us. We patiently waited for him to offer a wine tasting but he did not. We went upstairs to see the gift store and all looked at one another and agreed we were not interested in spending another second or penny at this unwelcoming winery. We had been here once before and he was equally jerky but we ignored him and bought some wines. They are not that good but we were just looking to spend a nice day going to a winery and try it one more time. This was a bad choice. This guy must have real issues personally to not have the common courtesy to greet customers and make them feel welcome. Most West Virginians are friendly, this guy must be from another state. What a jerk.

Stopped into this establishment during graduation weekend for WVU. My family walked into the«tasting room and store» and said hello to the clerk — he said nothing back to us and just stared at us the entire time we walked around the store. Because of him, we purchased nothing. My sister had visited this winery previously and bought some apple jack and peach moonshine, as well as a variety of wines — nothing special. More like Forks of Unfriendliness. Only pro to this place is that it has a great view of the mountains and a nice looking patio area.

We followed the signs off of I79 on a whim and it was worth the detour. Friendly staff, plenty of samples and choices. I was driving so I couldn’t try everything I wanted to. Many of their wines were sweeter than I care for, so I tried a couple of their dry reds and they were nice light wines and I took home a couple of bottles of Chambourcin.
