Who would ever think touring a sock factory would be interesting? Well, it really was neat. There is a $ 6 fee for the daily 1pm tour but take $ 1 off with the Nashville Visitor Tour card($ 12). Go to the corporate office — the brochure does not say that — check in and browse the gift shop. All they have is socks but you cannot believe the variety. The socks are NOTCHEAP — $ 5TO $ 9 a pair — but they are of excellent quality. There is any domestic animal you can imagine, sea and wild life, all the sports teams, silly socks(Jim’s Sock with Jim’s Other Sock) and all sizes. Our tour started with a history of the family business and a demonstration of their first sock machine. Our guide, Kinsey, answered all my questions. There were only three of us on a Wednesday tour in January. We walked the factory floor and you cannot imagine how cool the weaving machines are. We saw the storage room an there were hundreds of college and professional team socks. It isn’t just the weaving that is interesting. They wash, iron, pair, tag and bag the socks. You see the process from start to finish. The tour was an hour and is well worth the $ 6 and the time.
