An excellent scenic float on Snake River. The float isn’t the most exciting thing in the world but it takes you through scenic parts of the Snake River with the Grand Teton as the background. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and has a great sense of humor. It was a cloudy day and rained for a few minutes but our guide came prepared and provided us the ponchos. Not much wildlife could be seen that day but I’ve heard it’s possible to spot bears along the way. My only minor complaint about the float was the amount of time it took. 2 hours on the river + time to get there was entirely too long for me. Otherwise, it was an excellent experience in Teton.

This company floats the most scenic part of the Snake River. The river farther south is not as scenic and natural. Our guide, Grant, grew up in the area and was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. He clearly explained what type of habitats that are best for moose and elk and why. He also explained how the introduction of wolves has benefited the different species of animals that live in the park. The views of the Tetons were terrific. We also saw several bald eagles. This float was the highlight of our trip! If you’re visiting the area be sure to give it a try.

My fiancé, her parents and myself booked a 10 mile Barker-Ewing float trip down the Snake River a couple of Monday’s ago. What an awesome trip it was! During the whole trip you had stunning views of both the Tetons and the river. We also ended up seeing 11 bald eagles during our float including one diving into the water for a fish right in front of our raft. Our guide Neel was excellent. He was both very nice and extremely knowledgeable of the area having been running rafts down the Snake for many years. If you are going to be in the area and have some free time then I feel like this is a must! The views from the raft were simply spectacular and it was also quite relaxing.

There are two Barker Ewing companies operating float trips(the partners split in ’84). This one offers a 10 mile float trip on the Snake River within Grand Teton National Park, from Deadman’s Bar to Moose. When I accidentally booked my trip on the wrong date, they were kind enough to accommodate a change. Our guide Matt was terrific! He was a wealth of knowledge on a variety subjects. During the entire trip, he was actively looking out for wildlife to point out to us. We took photos of eagles, moose, a rainbow, and lots of beavers. This float trip is a must do in the Grand Tetons!
