Birthday dinner for two. He had the sirloin and I had the walleye. Pros: Great bread basket for the table The walleye was amazing with crisp, tasty breading Beautiful dining room overlooking the Red River Service was attentive, not pushy Cons: Overpriced Steak was full of gristle, not what I expect for the price Wild rice blend was crunchy and not very flavorful

Definitely a place worth checking out. The restaurant area is more formal and overlooks the river and bike path, while the bar is more casual with a lodge feel. I prefer seating in the bar and the cozy vibe it offers. The bar has a unique loft that overlooks the bar-side. I reserved the loft for my husband’s 30th birthday surprise party. It was the perfect spot to surprise him as we walked and and saw a bunch of friends up above looking down. They didn’t charge for reserving the space and they were very easy to work with in coordinating my request!

I had a reservation for tonight at 8 that we made over 2 weeks ago. When we arrived we wondered around for ten minutes before finally gaining the bar tenders attention. Turns out they had a private party and called us only 25 minutes before our reservation! 25 minutes! We were already driving there! Just a cheap apology and weak attempt to get us to reschdule! No table, no gift card, nothing! It was embarrassing and so incredibly rude. I would be surprised if I ever go there again considering there extreme unprofessional approach at an unfortunate situation. Very disappointed.

Been here several times. Food and service have been consistent and great. A nice selection of dinners and pub food. Love the back room with the large windows and the view of the Red River.

I don’t know what has happened to this place the last couple of years it isn’t good. The atmosphere and patio in nicer weather is still great. But the food has steadily gone down hill. Two times ago, we ordered the Pasta of the Moment and a burger. The pasta was supposed to be pesto and was virtually tasteless. No garlic or salt at all. We weren’t asked how we wanted the burger cooked and it was a ball of gray greasy beef. It didn’t even look like it had been grilled. The last time we went we intended to just get drinks and skip the food but the group got hungry and we ended ordering some appetizers. The flatbread was pre-made crust and had no flavor. The only thing we ended up eating was the garnish on our Bloody Mary’s. We will still go for drinks and to sit on the patio while the weather is nice but they really need to step up their game when it comes to the food.

This place is pretty awesome. 2 separate dining areas. 1 is a pub, the other is a nicer dining room. The menu has a wide variety of options. Everyone will find something they like… Pasta, burgers, steak, sandwiches, and much more. They have a nice variety of beers and a full bar. The staff is friendly, but doesn’t stick out. Cool location.

Another great place that Moorhead has to offer… and with two very distinct dining places. The main bar area as you walk up the stairs and into the restaurant is a wonderfully cozy and comfortable pub. Booths, high top tables, and stools at the bar provide a great place to meet up with friends after work or take in a casual lunch/dinner. The TV’s are on with sports usually playing and they are always playing good music too… most of the time it’s something from the 70’s-90’s. If you’re in the mood for something a little more formal, then check out the dinning room in the back. Proper tables are arranged with a beautiful view of the Red River. It’s an absolute must in the winter, as the snowy and icy scenery is gorgeous. Now, onto the food. I’ve had many things here and have not been disappointed at all. Fish and chips, burgers, and sandwiches are all great. The rueben is one of the best in town! They also have other traditional pub faire, like shepherd’s pie and bangers and mash that is equally good. Pasta dishes are also tasty. Basically, you’ll be happy with anything on the menu. They also have the Goldilock’s sized portions… nothing too small and nothing too large — it’s just right!

Great place! We sat at the bar and chatted with Melissa(I think that was her name). My boyfriend had catfish tacos. They were pretty good, but a little too salty. I had a crabby blt with a crab cake on it. It was pretty good. We started with seared scallops. They were delicious! We both had two beers. I think the best part was the service. Thank you!

I love Usher’s location, atmosphere, and service. The menu, however, is a bit stale. However, one thing really stands out: they are never open. I have gone out specifically for their charming bar, wonderful patio, or romantic dining room — literally countless times — to find the establishment closed for a private party. As a customer, this is horrible.

The good: The interior is very nice and the back room is all windows overlooking the Red River. It is a nice view. The menu is interesting. The food is decent to good. The bad: Our service was inadequate, thoughtless, and slightly rude. The prices are a bit on the high side for the quality. They have decent food, but they aren’t nearly as fancy as they think they are. They were out of a few beers that they prominently advertise. That’s poor planning. The window well we sat near featured cracker crumbs and dead flies. Pay attention to detail.

I was surprised to find a place like this across the river; a bar and seating up front, private room in the back, outdoor seating to the West side of the building by the river. Bear pit, if you should need to be inclined. Never knew it was here, if I hadn’t been invited! As you step into the wooden-paneled restaurant/pub area, you can see the influence of the prior Red Bear, and a plastic knight’s suit to boot to the left as you entered. Here to celebrate a wedding, we had plenty of food in the back — lovely steaks, by the way, and a great mashed potato underneath(with skin but gave it such a wonderful texture). The chicken over rice was good, too. Their meatballs in the appetizer were a bit tough, but people liked the overall flavor. Bright sunsets made for a tough seat but you could probably get away with looking out over the river in the large ceiling-to-floor windows. Servers were competent and friendly, though the two of our primary servers found it tough to keep up with the drink orders. Overall they managed to handle whatever we needed that night. Only thing — if you speak, have them turn down the music or bring in your own amplified microphone; too hard to hear otherwise.

Okay the three star is mainly for the food. If the food had been a wee bit better I would have given is four stars. I ordered the filet mignon which had such promise but didn’t quite deliver. The service was great and the location is spectacular. It’s set in a Masonic looking building and the back room had a great view… even if it was covered in snow. So all in all the experience was good given the location and company but the food was just okay.

My biggest complaint is that the waiter, who was committing our order to memory rather than writing it, forgot the one thing I asked to be altered(no sauce on the bun). When he repeated it back, I reminded him again. He was a little condescending when he told me he got it too. Twenty minutes later, my sandwich arrived with sauce on the bun. Rather than have it sent back, I just ate the sandwich open-face after unsuccessfully trying to wipe it off. He came over a couple times, but if he remembered the mistake(which should have been pretty obvious) he never made mention of it or attempted to correct it. Come to think of it, I don’t think he ever even asked if the meal was ok. That aside, the food was fine, the beer list impressive and the ambiance inviting. If I lived in the area I’d give it a second chance(and hope I got another waiter).

Skipped the bar and opted for the dining room. Glad I did; beautiful room with all glass walls overlooking the river. Ordered the elk steak with a Cabernet. Also cheesecake. Very good! Pricing is reasonable for this level of restaurant.

Great space, the building was originally an American Legion Hall and it is impressive. Everything they have added to make it a restaurant is wood and quality. We ate out on the patio which has a magnificent view of a park. It was fun because there was a photo shoot going on right below us and we got to giggle to all the«Come on baby, you’re gorgeous, work with me» type commands. I had a muffuletta with various meats but the sauce on the side, it was delicious and came with sweet potato fries, my favorite. Refreshing lemonade and attentive service rounded out a very enjoyable lunch. I hope the photos turned out as well

So many chains in the FM area — they are moving up in the world, starting with Usher’s house We went to Usher’s house on saturday night and just the buidling itself was beautiful and impressive — brick — right on the river — obviously able to escape all the floods so far even though they have a great view of it. The ambiance was very nice — dimly lit, dark wood, nicely decorated in the dining room for the season. The food was excellent. We tried the scotch eggs — yum! And then moved on to the scallops — double yum — i didn’t want to share those — amazing — they do not mess around with these! Had a bite of the elk steak that my boy ordered — very impressive — I got the sheperd’s pie — and that was also quite delectable. My choices were the pulled pork and the sheperd’s pie — someone else got the pulled pork — and wow — melt in your mouth w/sauerkraut! Anyways, definitely worth a visit if you are in town and definitely a go to place for fine dining and avoiding the chains! P. S. They have an awesome beer and wine selection
