Here’s the scene, we want booze, we want to throw some darts and shoot some pool. We arrive at O’Learys because it’s across the street from the hotel and we really don’t feel like driving anywhere(drunken stagger sounds far more appealing for the return trip). It’s late happy hour, so we expect the drinks to be a little watered down. We find that the drink — no matter what it is — is far more mixer than it is booze. Vodka redbull? Redbull with a splash of vodka. Captain coke? The captain is MIA. Jack and coke? Jack is hanging out with the Captain somewhere not in the glass. Malibu and juice? Malibu is in California, not in Moorhead. After about 3 drinks a piece, and no buzz what so ever, we feel it’s time to try our luck at bar games. So it’s time to migrate. At this time, we pulled one of hell of a magic trick, because after we moved… our server totally thought we were invisible. We didn’t see her once in the 2+ hours we were playing games. So, that meant having to stroll across the entire establishment to get our drinks. That was great. Darts were ok. Lots of extra tips for those of us that tend to break them. Now the only reason we actually stayed there… the broken pool table. Broken how? There was no glass in the ball holding area, so there was nothing to stop us from just taking the balls out(insert your balls on the table joke here) without paying to. Will I go back? Only if the pool table is broken still. Then, I’ll go to the grocery store to get a mixer, and order straight booze on the rocks. Didn’t try any food. Considering the service, it didn’t seem worth it. Plus, the waitress probably would have thought it was a ghost whispering to her considering she couldn’t see us.

I’ve come to the conclusion that Minnesota and the Dakotas are the lands of hard workers and big drinkers. Thus I need to move here. Another huge bar and restaurant, few patrons already for happy hour and we sat down to some half priced beers. Had the fries which were killer good, the irish chili that either had very sinew-y meat or it was hair… moving on from that. And a fairly bland turkey and cheese griled sandwich. I would really like to introduce the locals to some unique blends called spices. I think it would greatly up their savory level when it comes to some of their typical food dishes. Regardless this place had a ton of different happy hour specials going on so thats what I like to see. All the waitresses here were hotties so I could tell this was a good olé boys type joint. Its cool, i can wrestle with the big boys and dig my nails in until they yell Mercy ;)

Ruben sandwich was pretty good I rather enjoyed the fact they didn’t slather it in some thick thousand island dressing, the Swiss cheese, sourkraut, and meat tjey used meled melded together to make a pretty fine ruben sandwich. The french fries golden borrow and crisp just the way I like them. Prices are are fair but it will depend if you are a big drinker with a hearty appetite as well in hoe much you will spend.

I’ve been here throughout the years. Went here a lot right when I was in my early 20’s and usually every time I’ve been back in town. It has seen some changes in staff and vibe but it’s still a fun place to hang out. A few years ago I remember there being more of a ‘tough guy’ mentality of a crowd but lately it seems a lot more mellow and enjoyable to hang out at. The bartenders are always friendly and you definitely get your moneys worth on drinks. There’s usually a live band on the weekends and I think they do karaōke during the week sometimes. They also have pull tabs, a jukebox and pool tables so there’s a mix of stuff to do to keep you occupied. Surprisingly enough, for being a bar the food and menu is excellent. Most bars in town just do the burgers and fries routine but they have quite a selection to choose from and it’s always been enjoyable. Definitely the best bar in that little south Moorhead grid there.
