Great place to hear music, but don’t expect much from the human element there. Ownership and/or management may have changed, but there’s a bad case of apathy amongst the people working there. The good: They seem to have one competent, attentive bartender. Pretty good pours on the liquor. Good sound quality. Great music, at least occasionally. Tables and chairs. Some kind of food is apparently served. The bad: The second bartender doesn’t seem to know what beers they have or what prices to charge and would rather stare at her cell phone than serve customers. Ask for a drink on the rocks and you might get a look like you just stepped out of a flying saucer. No sign of a menu, but we saw people walking around with tacos(and pizza?). No table service. The show didn’t start anywhere near the published starting time, but the guy at the door gave us misinformation on the actual starting time, causing us to miss part of the opening act. So even though we arrived early(and subsequently left and came back), we ended up without a table to sit at. The guy at the door was also busy on his cell phone. It took him about two minutes to acknowledge us. Ridiculous. Also – they do a lousy job of publicizing events, and in spite of multiple complaints, they still list an outdated phone no. on their web site. Almost forgot – no soap in the men’s room.(I know – most guys don’t bother to wash with soap, if at all – but still…)

I was passing through from out of town and it was a late night — a local showed up this place. One side was some Karaōke with a small crowd, but next door, there was a large Mariachi band with some dancing– ton of fun! The bar tenders were really nice, and the local patrons were all really friendly. Apparently this is a comedy club as well based on Unilocal! If I pass through again, I will definitely drop in!

Went for Sunday salsa, they played nothing but bachata and charged us $ 20 per person. Don’t waste your time going to planet Gemini. Couldn’t Über out of there fast enough!

Brought tickets to see Nick Guerra a while ago. The day comes. I Drive all the way from the Bay Area, to see the comedian, then upon my arrival, I find out that«he was just cancelled». I understand that things happen, but out of all the years I’ve been going to PG for comedy(20+), this is a first? I somehow learn that there are Management issues — ya think! So, I attempted to call the number listed on the website and the phone number has been disconnected??? WHATISGOINGONPLANETGEMINI? Have You All Gone Out of Business, or What?

This place is a total dive but I love dives so I thoroughly enjoyed it! The karaōke was such a blast and the gal running it rocks! The servers are fun and friendly! I’m only not giving it 5 stars cuz the place itself isn’t aesthetically appealing but again, it’s a dive so what do I expect! It’s a fun place with zero pretense. If your an upscale bar type, it’s not for you. If you like beer and a homey feel with friendly service than this is your local spot! Trying out the comedy tonight!!! Fingers crossed!!!

I love this place. A dive comedy club is awesome to have in this city. The owner is a very excited guy and will take shots with people who are celebrating anything before the show. Be prepared to clap, a lot, before the show. Wait staff can be a little slow but seemed to improve the last two times I was there. Cocktails could be better. Comedians are great and I am usually always happy with the shows when I leave. This place is a prime example of supporting your local business, keep this place running or you will have to goto San Jose to get any type of comedy.

I’m so happy to have bought the groupon online. I was only prepared to see one comedian but we ended up seeing three comedians and a live band. It was an great night! Wish we had something like this in San Jose. Also, the old owner of the place and the new owner joined the live band and preformed in front of everyone! How awesome is that?! Great staff here! I bought the groupon for 2 tickets to see the show and it came with 2 complimentary drinks for $ 19. It was a great deal. I would definitely go again.

I used to do Karaōke every Monday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday night in SoCal. After moving to Monterey county I had heard a few friends talk about Planet Gemini. Tonight my friend suggested that we go. Let me tell you I think I found my new Karaōke spot the environment is extremely chill and welcoming. I am already making plans to come back next week and so on.

Great comedy on the weekends. Steve Trevino a couple weeks back was awesome. Karaōke on the other side is always entertaining even if you don’t sing.

This is the absolute WORST«comedy club» I’ve EVER been to! Its really small, dirty and stuffy. The $ 10 cover would have been fine IF the comedians were actually funny and IF we were allowed to laugh freely! The«stuck in the 80’s» new owner kept on telling the«bouncer with no brain» to tell us that we were too loud and to not laugh so loud! WTF!!! It’s supposedly a comedy club! No loud laughing? I call BULLSHIT! The bartender is UNDER pouring drinks. Being a bartender myself, I know what a drink should taste like. I ordered a vodka cran with lime and it tasted like I got half a shot of vodka with cran and no lime. My mother in law’s cocktail tasted like it was straight cranberry juice, too. She told the waitress that her drink was weak so the waitress informed the«bartender». The waitress came back and said that the bartender said, «My drinks are always strong!» Ummm… NOTTHISTIME buddy! Caught you in a LIE because the waitress even tasted it and could hardly taste the liquor. So, to sum it up, the SERVICEWASBAD, the NOTBEINGALLOWEDTOLAUGHLOUD in a «comedy club» WASBAD, the DRINKSWEREBAD, and the STAFFATTITUDES were SHITTY! One more thing… the LOCATION is next to a f**cking DILDOSHOP! Bad, Bad, Bad!!!

I love this place. I’m a well-known comedian from Los Angeles, and I’ve been performing here for 10 years. The drinks are poured just right and the food is great.

We arrived to Monterey earlier than expected on Friday night and we had an early tee time the next morning so we didn’t want to go out to the bars. We decided to give the Comedy Club a try. Drinks were $ 10 each and it was $ 15 to get in. The comedians all seemed like nice people, maybe not the funniest people in the world but I had a few laughs and a nice time. My only real complaint was that service was pretty slow.

Absolutely the best comedy show I have ever seen! Nice classy place not a dive bar! Both comedians were great! Michael Mancini«worlds funniest cop» made me laugh so hard my stomach literally hurt!!! Admission was $ 11.24 for a Friday night show which included 2 great comedians. Karaōke and dancing. No drink minimum. Appetizer prices are decent and portions are large. Definitely go see a show if you are in the area. Super fun place!

This place is amazing from a performer stand point, and as a customer! Both rooms are intimate and sexy. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and welcoming. They have an array of events to suit everyone. Stand up comedy, Bands, Karaōke, Banda, And thats just what i seen in 2 days there! If you live in the area or just visiting, plan a night out here. You will love it!

I went to Planet Gemini for the first time last night, and I hope I never go back. The cover charge was ridiculously expensive($ 10 a person) as were the drinks. Now I knew the drinks would be expensive considering the cover charge, but just to put things in perspective, the well drinks were $ 10 apiece. In addition, the decorations were super tacky and the karaōke was terrible. So long as there are other bars in town, there is absolutely no reason to go to Planet Gemini.

I wish this place would implode. They play awful fucking mariachi music until 2am and is filled with the dregs of society. Holy fuck.

Planet Gemini features local and nationally known comedians and major stars on Comedy Central, etc. We went to see stand up comedian, Steve Trevino. The set-up is cheesy and a real throwback to the 90’s, complete with disco balls and velvet curtains. They could make better drinks because my G & T was all alcohol and no tonic at all!(normally, I wouldn’t complain, but I already had 2 delicious cocktails at Restaurant 1833 prior to coming here!) If you decide to order from the cocktail menu, it’s on the sweet side and moderately priced. What I love is they make you feel really welcome here. All the birthday celebrants/anniversaries/workpromotions/bon voyage parties got invited to the stage with free shots! This is how you win regulars — you make them feel like family AND knock them out with booze. ;-)

This place is awesome! If you have any reason to celebrate, this is the place to be. I planned my sister’s surprise 30th birthday party here last night. Stephanie, the manager, was phenomenal. She followed through with everything from setting up the date to being a great hostess throughout the night. We actually reserved their Cabana Room which is right near the stage and had Stephanie help us out with drinks and food all night. I must reiterate what a great hostess she was. I know that my group of people can be needy, but she was there with a smile. The new location is wonderful. Very well decorated. The comedians were hilarious. The service was great. All their staff was always available when we needed them. Basically we started the night off laughing our butts off with the comedians then we stayed for the«after party» and danced the night away. The DJ took song requests and everyone was enjoying the music all together. The great thing about Planet Gemini is that if you have friends that don’t really dance or like the feel of a club, you can simply go into their 2nd bar room and sing Karaōke all night instead. The crowd was great, the comedians were funny, the staff was fantastic. My guests and I will definitely be coming back.
