This place disgusts me. My great grandmother brought her beautiful Italian chain and bracelet to have the bracelet made into earring last year. They took her necklace to «clean it» and brought her back a totally different chain. And tried to tell her that it was the chain she brought in. It was in your face theft!!! And the owner tried to tell her to go home and check! Like she didn’t know what chain she brought in. They are just lucky I was not present because the police would definitely have been called. That necklace was a gift from my departed great grandfather and what they did was just so disrespectful and criminal. They thought because she was older that they could take advantage of her. She had been going there for many many years so this is how they show appreciation for their customers. Won’t ever go back here.

These guys are the absolute best! Always very friendly. I have had several things for them to work on including ring sizing, watch repair, and custom pieces. They do excellent work, are priced very fair, always complete the job quickly, and have great communication while they have your items. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else, and highly recommend them for all jewelry work.

Lori helped me figure out a perfect solution for a bracelet. Made right on the spot for a very low cost. This little gem of a local shop has a ton of awesome gems as well. I will use their expert services again and highly recommend them.

The woman there was rude beyond belief to another customer. Maybe a bad day, but taking it out on customers is a bad business practice and I walked out.

My fiancé had my engagement ring made here, and it’s perfect! I love it. Then I went back and had the same guy Chris make a wedding ring for my fiancé. It’s just what we discussed. Beautifully done. If you have an idea for a ring, take it to Chris!

Always go the extra mile! I have been a customer here for the past 15 years. Nice to go into a family business where employees seem to actually love what they do.

Chris made my wedding band and I absolutely love it. The whole process was just awesome. He spent so much time talking through the design and making sure it was exactly what we wanted. He was able to create a ring that perfectly matches my engagement ring which is in a 1940s setting. We also had a few family stones that we wanted to incorporate, but we needed to get a few more to fill out the ring and he was able to find stones that matched perfectly. The pricing was also much less than we expected and such a great value. He and Lori were so nice throughout the whole process and we will definitely be going back for any jewelry needs in the future.

They tried to cheat on me! My 14k gold necklace 14.5g. First she said. $ 155.5 then when she gave me check of $ 146.00. I took my necklace back and went to another one (I forgot the name of it but phone #831 655 2363) Very friendly n gave me $ 200.00. I sold my gold twice in peninsula jewelry in the past. I regretted, I probably lost a lot of money.

Well, how can I say this… We know that sometimes, we make mistakes, sometimes we do not fulfill promises made, and of course that we know that we are not perfect. Laurie runs this business with great pride and dedication, I have used them many times to fix jewelry and they get it right the first time. Chris is a young avid jeweler, with many years of practice, dedicated and most important, always aming to please his customers. I have read the poor reviews given to them here on Unilocal,and the first thing I notice, was the anonymity of the people. We should not take into consideration this reviews, for they are cowardly made, only filled with anger and discontentment. I am writing this review to assure the future customers, that they will have good and prompt service at this Peninsula Gem Store. I am very happy with their work ethics and with the finished jobs.
For those who wrote bad reviews… I really know that you wrote them just to cause harm, not because you are concern about other people, but because you were not pleased.

The main reason I went here was because a previous Unilocal review mentioned that he offered fair pricing. They definitely do!
I came to get my engagement resized. The problem I faced with my ring is that i have diamonds down the sides. When i asked other jewelers they all told me not to do it since the diamonds could fall out. Well this didn’t stop James & Co. They forewarned me this could happen however, instead of turning me away they just said they would fix it if that problem came up. I was worried for 5 days the ring was out of my hands. I just picked it up today and in the end, not one diamond moved and no problems happened like all the other large stores told me. And the ring came back shinier than when I gave it to them.
I love supporting smaller shops like this that are hard working, don’t try to rip you off, and can still deliver excellent work! This is a place I will definitely recommend and return too.

I have been going to Monterey Peninsula Gem and Jewelry Supply for about 25 years now for all of my Jewelry needs. This family run business is, in my opinion the BEST in Monterey County! The staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. If I need any of my jewelry repaired they are the only ones that I would trust to do the job right. They are very fair with their pricing and will work late to make sure the job is done in a timely manner. When It came time for me to get wedding bands I went to them with my designs for custom rings. They exceeded my expectations! My wife and I get compliments on our rings all the time. They are indeed artists and are masters of their craft. Besides custom work and repairs they have a wonderful selection of jewelry of all kinds. Other places all seem to have the same stuff, but at Monterey Peninsula Gem and Jewelry Supply they have unique pieces of art you can wear. Their Jade selection is great! If all that wasn’t enough they also sell supplies for Jewelers of all experience levels and are very helpful with advice and suggestions for any jewelry project. The atmosphere is very friendly and they make you feel like part of the family. My 6 year old daughter likes to go with me there so she can pick a «treasure» out of their jewel bin and visit with their family dog who works the store too. I can’t say enough good things about this place! If I could give them more than a 5 star rating I would. Go there and find out for yourself and you will agree, they are the BEST!

as a jeweler with 42 years experience I can say this is a good place to go. the service is exemplary and I know because I have used them many times on a wholesale level. They would not be in business in a small town like this for very long if they were not a trustworthy and safe place to go

I went in here a few months back after I had been laid off from my job. Needless to say, I was looking to sell some of my jewelry in order to make ends meet. I spoke to a few different people there, and was helped by a man named Chris. He gave me such an outstanding rate for all of my gold, and he was very helpful and friendly. He even had his dog at work, which was really nice, because she was so sweet! Definitely a family-​like experience. I have been in here numerous times before to purchase jewelry, or get quotes on having a piece made for myself. I once took in a bunch of old rings and stones, and the staff worked with me on giving me an idea of what they could do to create my new and improved ring. The quote was extremely reasonable, considering all of the time I know it would have taken to create the custom ring. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get the ring made, due to above mentioned circumstance. Their selection of vintage jewelry is amazing, I could just spend hours looking at all the pieces. It’s also very convenient when I have my niece with me, because they have a big basket of stones that children are allowed to pick from. It definitely frees me up to shop! I would highly recommend this shop for custom pieces, or if you need to sell any jewelry. I definitely would rather spend my money locally at a place like this, than go to some overpriced, underfriendly jeweler.

I absolutly LOVE Peninsula Gem & Jewelry! I have been taking classes over an Monterey Peninsula College for about three years now and I don’t know what I would have done with out Peninsula Gem & Jewelry. I’ve never been a huge fan of ordering supplys or tools out of catalogs because you can’t see or feel the quality. Being new to the jewelry industry its wonderful to be able to go into the shop and ask them questions about which tool I should use or how much of something I will need for a project. The staff is all so knowledgable and is eager to help. I just bought a flex shaft and needed something to hang it on. Kris helped me figure out what would work the best for my situation and ordered it for me and it’s working out great! They also do a wonderful job on repair work and are the only ones I have found that will do ring resizing with silver without charging you and arm and a leg. Before I started taking classes and knew about them I went to six different stores trying to get this beautiful ring resized and no one would do it. Finally someone refered me to peninsula gem and they ended up doing a great job and I have been going there ever since!

I could not be any happier with my experience at Peninsula Gem & Jewelery. The first task I approached Kris with was restoring and sizing a turquoise ring that was left to me from my grandmother when she passed away. Kris took great care of this very sentimental piece of jewelery. He sized it and set the stone for me so that I can wear it without fear of the stone falling out. I’m sure it looks better now that it ever has.
I’ve also received several gifts that have been hand crafted at the store, all of which I receive compliments on each time I wear them. They have a great selection of jade jewelery, and other unique pieces made to fit many tastes.
The most amazing creation I have seen come out of that shop is my diamond and white gold wedding band, hand crafted by Kris from start to finish. Kris worked with my husband to create exactly what he wanted. It is one of a kind, and I know it will last a lifetime. I receive endless compliments on the unique and beautiful design.
On top of the beautiful custom jewelery that is produced in this shop, they are also more than happy to carefully clean that precious piece of jewelery that has lost its sparkle.
