Padre Oaks Inn

I had a really great experience here. I stayed in this hotel alone and I felt safe the entire time. The location is perfect it is in the middle of Carmel by the sea and the wharf. there’s a mall across the street as well and the neighborhood is cute and quite. Its convenient close to shops, museums and restaurants. My hotel room was clean. Lighting worked fine. I was able to take a hot shower, I had no problems with my room. It was a good price and the staff was friendly. I would definitely come back. Hope this helps.

Stay away. Not worth ur hard earned money. The manager is not qualified to manage anything in the hospitality business. I’ve stayed 20 + times and had to overlook the he was doing me a favor attitude. I would never stay here again

Stayed only one night, a Saturday in March. Price was fair. Room was clean, heater worked, wifi is good, lots of channels available on the tv. The Shower is barely a stream of water. The breakfast could be better but it’s something to hold you over. Microwave and fridge in room. Front desk inns keepers were nice at check in.

One star because the room and bathroom were nice and clean. But one necessity is a nice, warm shower, and this place doesn’t have this!
The shower is a trickle that will COMPLETELY go away (I.e., no water coming out of the shower head) when someone else turns on their water. The trickle then comes back, but it will come back either scalding hot or cold. If there was any actual water pressure, it would be a huge Unilocal-​inducing shocker. To reset the water temperature you have to turn off the water and turn it back on.
When we called the front desk about the shower (the water pressure was so bad, we thought they had to flip a switch to open the pipes to our room or something), the front desk told us that they get a lot of complaints, they know about this issue, and that it’s a plumbing problem they will eventually fix at some later date.
So if you’re looking for a place to rest your weary head, but won’t need a shower, this place would be a good consideration.
If one of your main reasons for booking a room is to get a shower, this is NOT the place for you. Not until they fix the plumbing, anyway.

This isn’t an ideal hotel if you’re traveling single, alone or as a Businesswoman. The proprietor was actually upset when I called because the heat wasn’t working and I woke up cold in the middle of the night. Earlier I had been given a room where the lights didn’t work and he wanted to be alone with me in order to verify my claim and fix it. Who lies about the lights not working?! So based on me not wanting to be alone with a strange man in the room I was told it couldn’t be fixed, despite there being two other rooms available — I couldn’t be moved to a room where the heat worked without allowing this man into my RM. IN OTHER WORDS HE HAD TO BE ALONE WITH ME IN A RM IN ORDER FOR ME TO SLEEP IN A HEATED RM. The heat finally began working. The hotel refused to refund money for the night even though I lost 3 hrs of sleep and woke up late the next morning late. And for a budget hotel — the idea is to get one night of rest.
