I no longer live in Monterey, but whenever I come back I ALWAYS stop at Gaspar’s. I know that I can get great service and repairs are always timely. I’m coming out to Monterey in Sept and will definitely be stopping in and buying something. Great selection. Great service. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

Called for some help, because my setting is loose, trying to get it fixed before a trip, and was told «Go on your trip, and come see us when you’re back, we’re just too swamped with repairs.» I get not having time, and that’s ok — what I’m sad about is a jeweler telling me to take my loose 2.5 carat diamond setting on vacation loose! Shame on you. I called Gasper’s because they came highly recommended — However even when I’m back, I won’t be a customer. Thanks for nothing.

I have been working with gaspers jewelry for over 15 years and always found him to be exemplary. He carries a fantastic selection of watches and fine jewelry… He can change your watch batteries while you wait… Replace the pins in your watchband in 10 minutes while you wait… He always greet you with a smile and he will bend over backwards to help you

Wanted to purchase a large stone and custom setting like a setting I saw online. I had stopped in to Gaspers previously and liked the man I spoke with. Gasper jumped in, got a quote and was really attentive. Then the quote came back over $ 1k higher than what I could buy the original for. I asked «why would I pay more, it makes no sense?» I said I’d get my stone first, then we could talk about the setting. He said name my price/​size and he’d find the center stone for it. I told him the size and price and he literally laughed said I’d never get a stone that size for my budget, maybe $ 5−10k more. Long story short… I did find it. Larger and under my budget, GIA certified appraised for 10K more than what I paid. I took it to him to discuss the setting and when he looked at my stone he LIED to my face and said it had inclusions that were not there. (I’ve got a GIA cert and 2 other local jewelers assurances that it has NONE of the inclusions he said). When I looked, I told HIM what he was pointing out as an inclusion was nothing more than a reflection and dirt. He dropped it & changed the subject. I said thanks and left.
The fact is Gasper was annoyed I didn’t buy the stone from him and I was savvy enough not to let him scare me. IF you unwisely choose to use this jeweler, you had BETTER know your prices/​values and be knowledgeable about gemology and the diamond business — that’s all ill say.
Use Marchesa Jewelry in Pebble or Hesselbein’s Jewelers in Crossroad instead. They are highly respected, AND extremely honest.

gasper is amazing! I accidentally washed AND dried my boyfriends watch. Once I realized my mistake the band was missing a pin. I called up gasper and he told me to come in. He fixed it right away and didn’t charge me anything. For a very nice jewelry store and him knowing how desperate I was I was expecting him to charge me whatever he felt like. He even told me to come back if that didn’t work. It felt like a small neighbor store. I am so thankful.

I first went here to get the wristband of my husband’s watch repaired. They were very nice and and it only cost $ 5. I’ve been back since for several jewelry repairs, and once when they made an identical replica of an earring I lost. I can’t imagine going anywhere else now.
I wish they carried some more contemporary jewelry designs though — I’d love to purchase from them.

Very poor recent experience with owner regarding repair. Untimely and unkindly service. Sadly, I can no longer recommend Gaspar’s.

My soon to be fiancé and I have been to Gasper’s on several occasions and have nothing but praise for this Monterey gem. I have personally had rings resized and jewelry worked on many times and have consistently been impressed by the quality of work, the professionality, and the knowledge of the staff. Keep up the good work Gasper’s!

Never, ever shop here. Well, not unless you enjoy being treated like a criminal by the bearded old proprietor for no apparent reason. After going there in search of a new clasp and chain for my grandfather’s St. Christopher’s medal from World War Two– and being treated with contempt– the same man today came out of the shop and accosted me on the sidewalk at the Farmer’s Market. He shouted and swore at me that my little dog had– and I quote– ‘pissed on (his) f-​ing wall.’ Then he dialled the police while people stood and stared. Really.
ZERO stars. Take your business across the street to Aiello’s.

Took my wedding ring in to have it repaired on Thursday morning and got a call back Friday afternoon saying it was done. I was amazed! I was told this doesn’t happen often, but I was ecstatic to only be missing my ring for less then two days.
The staff were friendly and let me in even though they were not quite ready to open Thursday morning. My repair had been quoted to cost $ 80 at another jeweler, and was quoted half the price at Gasper’s.
My over all experience was amazing and I even got a free cleaning for my engagement ring when I picked up my repair!
