First time trying this place and it was awful. I ordered a mochiko chicken plate which is basically breaded chicken. The breading(which was pretty much burnt) came right off of the chicken and tasted like who ever was making it, had no idea what they were doing. Also, the breading had some green sh** in it, which I’m sure wasn’t supposed to be there. The macaroni was so watery, it was hard to grab a good bite with chopsticks. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Ono’s.

Last night was my first visit. I tried the number four combo, for about ten bucks it was a very filling meal. A nice black box packed with food. Chicken, beef, ribs, fried cabbage, steamed white rice and macaroni salad. The food is almost identical to Korean dishes I’ve had in Little Tokyo, except one, or two less side dishes which is fine. I think Koreans give you too many side dishes, I don’t like Korean kimchee, or bean sprouts. The macaroni salad is virtually identical to that you would get at any Korean, or other Hawaiian restaurant. A bit too greasy for my taste. They fry the cabbage a little more thoroughly in Little Tokyo than they do at Ohana, but its not a deal breaker. The mall Ohana is located in is nothing special. No place to take company to. The mall in Alhambra on Garfield at Main is much more attractive, and people friendly with outdoor benches and colorful mosaics, plenty of al fresco seating and many more dining options. The restaurants at this mall are best for a fast meal while shopping, or to pick up something to take home. Most of the customers come from adjacent East Los Angeles College.

The food is good but the service is iffy and the place is kinda dirty, last time I was In there the cooks were talking shit on my girlfriend and I while we were ordering, they would just stare laugh and then talk about us in Spanish, doesn’t feel like a very«Ohana» environment, kind of feel like I’m not wanted there and judged, no one looks happy that works there and doesn’t have that good of customer service except for the girl who had red hair and just died it black, she’s cool everyone else there is kind of bored/rude/doesn’t really know how to do their job

First of all the people are rude there. Secondly I found a hair in my macaroni salad and lastly they did not give me chicken katsu sauce. I will not be coming back.

Good food, some people complain what they don’t have but everything they do have is great. Kalua pork is delicious even the next day. Food comes out a bit slow mainly because they cook to order I think.

Sucks! No Loco Moco!!! That’s my favorite and they don’t have it!!! Them employee herself said to me «Ahhh man, everyone ask for that.» Well duh… And they charge you for stuff that should be included… like certain sauces. I’m sure I won’t be going back to this one.

How can any«Hawaiian» BBQ joint not have laulau on the menu? This place does not, but a lot of local Hawaiian BBQ places are going away from serving laulau. Upon enter the restaurant, you’ll see a placard notice that establishment got a grade of «B» on the most recent food inspection. The front register service was good– No complaints on them. I was impressed that they carried Sriracha sauce and Kikoman Soy Sauce in packets to-go. The BBQ chicken was tasty and the food overall was good. If I were the manager, I would better ventilate because the place has an odd smell– like odd, as in bad. And I would add laulau to the menu to make it different than the other local Hawaiian BBQ places.

Nice little spot located in Monterey Park in a very crowded and congested modern looking strip mall with many food options competing for your decennial pallet. The décor is nice and simple with nothing too flashy and luxurious here to catch your eye but the food is classic Hawaiian and very flavor-able. Priced right and made fast you can get your lunch or dinner fix on and feel good afterwards doing so. Good experience trying this place for my first time and would recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the area.

The chicken katsu was burnt & the macaroni was so PLAIN! No taste at all. I always go to ONO or L&L and I thought I’d give this place a try. Definitely not coming here again.

I must say I am very torn with this place. The quality of the Katsu chicken was amazing. However, the macaroni pasta didn’t taste as good as I have been accustomed to. The worst part of it all, there was NO steamed cabbage like the other Hawaiian BBQ spots. Definitely a MUST for me when I’m eating this type of food. Thankfully, there are opening up another Hawaiian BBQ nearby. Until then, I would consider this place again because of the chicken. Hopefully they make changes once the competition comes in.

Terrible… And over priced for quality and what you get. Wouldn’t recommend… Portions: they barely even filled the plate. Way too much cabbage. Taste: nothing special Pricier than other Hawaiian food places but lower on taste

Macaroni Salad and the spicy chicken is my favorite! It takes an additional 10 minuets to cook and it is not featured in the menu but it is worth the wait. It is not too spicy but it does have a really good Cajun smokey taste.

This place used to be a lot better back in the day. I remember eating from this place a lot during our fast food Fridays as a little kid. It’s still decent, but it doesn’t have the same«it» factor as it did before. On my most recent visit, I had the chicken katsu combo plate, which also includes Hawaiian BBQ chicken, rice and macaroni salad. The katsu is a lot more crispier than how I remember. Normally I’m a sucker for deep fried stuff, but it just didn’t work on this occasion. The Hawaiian BBQ chicken was a tad bit dry. I had to dip it in the sauce for the chicken katsu. The macaroni salad was still really delicious as how I remembered it. Overall, the food did its job in stuffing and satisfying me. It doesn’t taste as great as it did when I was a boy, but it’s still decent.

My wife and I like to go to eat good Hawaiian fusion restaurants like Shaka’s, Miki Chan’s, etc. Ohana Hawaiian bbq is one of the place we like to dine there the potions are big and the food has great flavors. I order the bbq chicken, the chicken was so delicious and favorable including the macaroni and the rice if adding their sauce on the chicken and the sides.. My wife order the pineapple chicken it looks like orange chicken, my wife give me a taste wow do good. Now my wife and I have try out those other restaurants and find the best Hawaiian restaurants.

I recently stopped by here to order take out for convenience purposes. There was a take out order completed had already been sitting on the counter. When the customer came by to pick it up and ask the cashier if it was cold or not, the lady said«Well, it has been sitting out for a while.» Well obviously, the guy no longer wanted to pay for order then. So what did the cashier do? Re-use it for someone else’s order after re-heating the meat for a couple of minutes. It doesn’t sit well with me that if I were to phone order my items, it could have been made more than an hour ago and just re-heated maybe 10 minutes before I came to pick it up. Luckily, I have walked-in to order and watched the cooks to make sure my order of food was NOT the same food which had been sitting out for who-knows-how-long. On top of that, I was also advised that certain sauce was not included for free and charged an additional 50 cents. This is shocking to me as other restaurants which looks also identical to this place(you know which I’m talking about) has the sauce in the counter for you to grab at your own needs and wants. Unsatisfied.

The Katsu portions are huge, IMO Friendly service from Marissa and all the staff on this day Parking is not difficult since it is in this strip mall. Nothing«Food Channel» spectacular that stands out but a great place. If you want to fill up on Katsu and fountain drinks, come here, its right on the corner of the block. Like WWE wrestler Ryback one said«Feed Me More» Song parody of Six Pence None The Richer’s 1998 song«Kiss Me» Feed me, Katsu tender and crispy Daily, like a cow eating grass Win, win, as I take a step You serve the food and I will have a taste Oh, feed me beneath the milky twilight Your portion is so much more Makes me say oh dang, Strike up the grill and make the flavor dance Katsu so sparkling So feed me Feed me, corner business in East Los Near the college I admire On Atlantic, across the street from The Hat Near the 60, you can find on your Unilocal map Oh, feed me beneath the milky twilight Your portion is so much more Makes me say oh dang, Strike up the grill and make the flavor dance Katsu so sparkling So feed me Oh, feed me beneath the milky twilight Your portion is so much more Makes me say oh dang, Strike up the grill and make the flavor dance Katsu so sparkling So feed me

I got the BBQ chicken plate, double macaroni and brown rice. Macaroni is good, as I remember it always being. The chicken was good! No sauce needed for it. Good grilled burn on it. Brown rice was 35 cents extra, for no good reason. The Volcano chicken plate is the most popular, I should have gotten that! Service was nothing great. Friendly as usual. They have televisions in there, which were off when I was there. Now, the restroom was absolutely bad. Tagging all over the place and the sink looked like people had been using that as the toilet. It smelled rancid in there.

I’ve eaten here a few times, but this is the first time since joining Unilocal. The food here is very comparable to most Hawaiian spots I’ve eaten at except the serving sizes here are HUGE!!! They really hook it up with meat portions, and I was definitely eating my plate all day spread out over 3 small meals the other day. I last ordered the Volcano Chicken because I’d never had it. It’s essentially Chicken Katsu drizzled with their«Volcano» sauce. The sauce is a little spicy and tart, but was a nice variation on Chicken Katsu. A must order at any Hawaiian BBQ place is Spam Musubi. It’s a slice of spam put on top of a brick of rice with some sauce wrapped in seaweed. It’s a great(but far from healthy) snack/appetizer/dessert/anything. If you’re in the Monterey Park area or going to classes at ELAC and are sick of eating at The Hat, eat here.
