As an «out-of-towner» I found this suburban park a nice place to take a quick hike. It is certainly comparable to some places I hike in south Orange county(like Aliso Creek Trail or the trails in Nelly Gail.) It had some steep hills? So I got a good workout and some lovely views.

I woke up today and felt like I needed to physically strain my gluttonous body by embarking on a vigorous hike. So what so I do? Go on … … No, I go on … SMH –_(\ So I looked up hikes near Monterey Park because that is was where I was going to be near after my work day and found this little gem of a trail. This was pathetic! It was one hill that was maybe 100 yards with a subtle incline then you have to cross a neighborhood street and come across a similar slope. Then crossed the street to meet another similar hill. Then once more, to encounter the same kind of terrain. This hike was basically walking through the backyards of neighboring homes, on a dirt trail, with beer cans and dog feces. The absolute worst trait of this«hiking trail» is that there was no vantage point at all. Overall, this can hardly be called a trail. It’s more like a dirt alley with hills and possible dead bodies in the brushes.

Edison Trails Park is a fun place to picnic, mountain bike & hike, featuring 11 acres throughout the hills of Monterey Park and awesome views! It’s usually very empty other than the occasional dog walker or avid hiker. The trails are not too strenuous and the park is always clean. Restrooms have been updated and are cleaned daily. Also it does feature several BBQ pits which will make for an easy Saturday picnic and a small kids play area. Parking is on the side streets and the trails will lead you to another park atop the the hill which has its own parking and several baseball fields. Happy hiking!!!
