The sandwiches are really good, but the owner is extremely awkward and rude. Always has a pissed off look on his face. Never smiles, and it seems everything you ask him gets him upset. I will continue getting food here but only once in awhile when I don’t want to go too far. For a bakery it is always empty and he’s the only one that’s ever here.

The owner is a complete Esh es. Take your business any place but this place. I went to pick up my order Christmas Eve and was told by the owner we got busy this morning and I sold out of the bread I ordered. He remembered me coming into his store on Monday, remembered me telling him that I would be in Christmas Eve morning to pick up the bread I needed. The owner then says«I didn’t write your name down what do you want me to do?» I cannot recommend a different place to shop in the area, but I will never shop at the Take-A-Hyke Bakery!

Been here many, many times over the years. Always good stuff. Reminds my of my grandmother’s baking. Call head if you know you’re going to stop by for baked goods. They’ll make sure to have on hand what you need or let you know when. We get their fresh baked rolls, gata(gatah, kata), lamajoun, string cheese, yogurt, desserts, halvah and more on a regular basis. Hye Bakery provides a wide selection of Armenian spices and baking products along with yogurt, raw ingredients, tan and much more. Always our go to place. Sure, the owner is old school and has a dry personality but he has always been amenable to my family and me. He’s harmless. Just let him know what you need. Stop on by just to check out their inventory. Lots of interesting and tasty products!

I’m giving this place three stars, solely for the delicious cheese bread that was freshly made. But man, really awkward, cold, and rude customer service. I went in there with excitement to see what I could try, given it was my first time being in there, and I was greeted by a man with a really cold stare. When I had made my first choice, his cell phone rang and he immediately went to the cash register to charge me. However, I had not yet finished choosing everything I wanted but I couldn’t let him know bc he was on the phone. When I finally did, and was charged I left with the impression that I probably won’t be back in a while.

After a coworker who lives in the area told me about this place I decided to go by and try it out. Thanks for the recommendation, the flatbread pizza was pretty tasty. I will be back to try more. Their prices are also pretty amazing.

I stumbled upon Hye Bakery when I got lost driving around Montebello trying to find some other place someone had suggested I visit. Fortuitous? Absolutely. Fabulous baklava, hummus and baba ghanoush. The market has all sorts of delicious noms, and at excellent prices. If you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and be sure to stop by. You totally won’t regret it.

This place is awesome. Their lahmajun(I always get the garlic kind) is flavorful and they don’t skimp on the meat. When I bring them back home, I like to toast them in my toaster oven and then squeeze lime juice over them. Mmm! Their cheese-and-spinach boreg is always light and flaky and chock-full of cheese. I come here every weekend to get my fill of delicious, flaky, Armenian goodness. They also have a great selection of teas, spices, and imported Armenian juices, jams and treats. Try a spoonful of rose jam in hot water with a splash of milk. It’s the pinkest, girliest, most fragrant rose drink I’ve ever had and I love it. If I were to have an adult-sized princess tea party, this is definitely what I would serve my plush-guests.

Had their Lahmajou the day after it was bought and it was still great. Bread and meat perfectly complemented each other and were seasoned just right. Delicious.

Amazing lahmajoun!!! A friend of mine brought it to a road trip we’re going to and it was delicious. The bread is fresh and fluffy and the meat is seasoned to perfection. Can’t wait to try some more of their dishes, they come highly recommended.

I’ve been going here for the last month to grab sandwiches two or three times a week for lunch and it never disappoints. The bread is always fresh and the cold cut portions are generous. Try the mortadella salami sandwich.

I think they just had a change of ownership or something… so the good actually got better! I had the lamajoun which was wayy good and they added more of a selection to the regular drink choices. Will definitely be back for more fresh baked bread and other goodies.

Friendly service, great selection of fresh food, and local. My favorite market in town.
