The best sushi spot ever! My family and I come every Friday night, that the owner already knows us by name, and knows exactly what we’re going to order :) The staff is super friendly and attentive. I recommend the stir fry noodles!!! They’re so delicious. Also, try the devil, and chili salmon rolls, you won’t be let down. :)

Food is ok. I ordered from this place for dinner tonight for my family as it’s one of the few sushi delivery places in my area. Had four different rolls along with calamari & shrimp tempura appetizers & I can’t say that anything really stood out. Food was average but not really noteable. I’m sure if you do some digging around you can find better sushi restaurants.

Sushi was decent, all of the food was basically just okay. Friendly customer service by the wait staff… and dining area seems really run down and dark …they could use a remodel for sure

Tried this place for the first time. Been passing thru Montclair for 21 years now and finally tried it. The sushi nigiri and rolls were amazing. Great and fresh. The sushi chefs were very friendly and helpful. Amazing service when it came to the sushi chefs. Our waitress however was not the least bit friendly or attentive. She took so long to grab our orders when the chefs were done with them and when coming to check on us, was on her phone the entire time we were there and was very rude and careless. I have been a waitress at sushi restaraunts etc. for years; know how to do your job or don’t work in customer service at all. Will come back for the great sushi, and chefs; lets just pray that the infamous sad waitress won’t be there.

The sushi was delicious! We came hungry, and scarfed down 5 rolls without talking, or even breathing(keep in mind it’s only two of us) I’m writing my review as we wait for our 6th roll. Getting a little full :/ Must try: house special and the baked salmon rolls

This place is good for the price. It’s a hit or miss in the entertainment you receive from the cook. The food is good and the place is clean. Prices are decent.

We love coming here when we are craving sushi. The restaurant is clean and we rarely have to wait to be seated. The people that work here are friendly and the food is amazing and reasonably priced. We are really big on sushi and have been to places dont even come close to Tokyo. I recommend this place to anyone nearby or if you’re looking for a great sushi joint.

We came here after spending the day with family at Boomers. I Unilocaled food and this place caught my eye. Japanese food is one of my favorites and my family loves sushi. This restaurant is somewhat small. I don’t know why I was looking for a big restaurant. It’s in a small shopping center with Stater Bros kind of on the opposite side. I’m not going to lie, when we first saw this place we had second thoughts, but it was 9ish and we were running out of options so we decided to go in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They gave us some time to familiarize ourselves with the menu and took our drink orders. It was 8 in our party which entailed 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 small kids. Everyone ordered some type of sushi and shrimp tempura except for three of us(me and my lil ones). We ordered chicken teriyaki dinners. Everyone loved their food. The food came out in the right amount of time. Not too quick or slow. I was told by my family that the seafood was very fresh. This restaurant had a lot of variety too. The portion size was what I expected and the cost was reasonable. Now, I can eat chicken teriyaki, miso soup, steam rice and ginger salad everyday. That’s like one of my favorite meals. My food was perfect. It was really good. I finished with some green tea ice cream. I will definitely come back to this restaurant when I’m in the area again. Great job Tokyo Japanese Restaurant

Somebody was gracious enough to give me a $ 20 Groupon to this restaurant. It allowed me to buy a Philadelphia Roll, Green mussels, & a beer.

What a disappointment. I had such high hopes coming here for dinner. We decided to order the AYCE sushi… what a mistake. We started with tuna, salmon sushi. It was sliced so thin I can see through it with large portion of rice. Aside from the cut it was a sub par grade sushi you would get from a buffet, not from a Japanese restaurant. My appetite diminished but I figure we should not waste $ 26 a person !!! I was regretting my decision to come here. Note to owner. Don’t be so cheap with your cuts. Believe me your food is not good.

I already have low expectations when dining on sushi in the Inland Empire… but Not a fan of this place… In my opinion I ordered a snack and my bill was $ 42.00, making it damn expensive for subpar food. The yellowtail was old and I won’t be surprised if I end up with the runs from it. The $ 2.50 ginger salad is only a few pieces of lettuce and some ginger dressing… no more than three bites. The Gyoza was alright, deep fried, American style but ok The roll… can’t remember the name but had seared albacore and jalapeño on top, tasted smokey and unfresh… My friend had some egg sushi, he’s Japanese, he wondered how they messed that up but they did. So as mentioned I don’t have high expectations for sushi in this area but I still left disappointed and overcharged in my opinion. P. s. inside is depressing and waitress is not very friendly.

Wasn’t going to bother reviewing but GF received a sarcastic ‘You’re Funny’ «compliment» from the restaurant owner(of which she didn’t have the heart to approve) saying the following: «If u don’t like it please stop comming(sic) back to my restaurant. Btw u show up 15 mnt before we closed. Other people will know better than that.» — primawan p. I felt like I just first-hand experienced an episode of Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares; clearly the owner has a severe disregard for his customers. And it definitely trickled down in our experience. We walk in THIRTY minutes early, already knowing what to order(only sushi — quick) and with our Groupon ready, and the waitress glares at us for at least 5 seconds before sitting us down. The whole experience she focused solely on the TV in the restaurant; never smiling. The ambience(as previous reviewers have pointed out) is very solemn and dreary; not a place to take a date or family out to. The food was bland — only thing good was the eel which is hard to mess up anyway. Even a revolving sushi bar or sushi from Pavilions grocery tastes better. Not good at all. We definitely do not recommend going to this poor establishment and I hope the owner learns to respect the people putting food on his family’s table! Also, I usually do respect the unspoken rule of coming 15 minutes before closing but I came in 30 minutes before and can PROVETHROUGHMYRECEIPT that I finished eating at 10 — the advertised closing time. If you want to close the restaurant 15 minutes early then put it on your sign. An open restaurant is an open restaurant. I’m sorry I bothered with my business, asshole.

Found this restaurant on Unilocal since we were in the area and craving sushi. Happy hour was 20%off beer and wine with the purchase of any roll on their special menu which was an average of $ 7 – 8(most rolls on the reg menu are about $ 10 – 13. Service was very friendly, a little too attentive id say as they came to check on us after like 2 minutes of sitting and asked again after 4 minutes maybe lol For appetizer, the Ika Maruyaki(whole grilled squid) was REALLYGOOD! Totally worth the $ 9. In other places, ive seen it get a little burnt from the grill but this one was perfectly grilled and seasoned(got a lil spicy kick too) We also shared 3 rolls: Japanese burrito, Caterpillar and the Lobster dynamite. All three were pretty good and tasted fresh. Avocado tasted like it could’ve been more ripe. Overall, a nice place. The restaurant can use a little touch up(no wall decorations, paint starting to peel) but good food and friendly staff.
