I stopped in the Tiny Elephant with my girlfriend yesterday afternoon to find a cozy atmosphere and a few open tables. The place has a very cute décor and the staff was attentive and prompt. I had the grilled chicken kale salad and a roasted tomato bisque soup and its was delicious. Although the place was nearly full it was still nice to able to hear my friend speaking. Nobody was packed in like sardines in this café. I will be back very soon to try something else on the menu.

Lovely little cozy café in Montclair. Food is fresh, brunch is yummy. Love the roasted veggie sandwich, eggs, pancakes, etc. Love the style and the attachment to the Watchung bookstore makes it all the better. Food and books — great fun (I would give it 5 stars, but the service could use a little improvement)

Awesome fresh food cooked to order in the watching bookstore. Andy and Jordan two of the friendliest guys you will meet who are the front and back of the house. Finally someone took Raymond’s(not a fan) title for best brunch and actually deserve it.

Every time I’ve come to New Jersey I’ve visited Tiny Elephant. They had great, fresh food and always a selection of yummy treats. Their pancakes are delicious and the prosciutto sandwich is my favorite! Its a smaller place, so you might get stuck waiting for table but it will be worth it. Its connected to a cute little bookstore as well which gives it a welcoming feeling. The servers are always friendly and since its family owned its a warm atmosphere. Their décor is really cute and i love the elephants you can find around the restaurant! Their shirts are cute but unfortunately wasnt in my size-hopefully on my next trip out ill be able to purchase one!

The brunch here is amazing. My eggs were impeccably cooked and the potatoes are delicious. The café has a great vibe and the staff are adorable, friendly, and attentive. Definitely going back whenever I’m in Montclair!

We ordered a holiday menu that’s good for 8 people but when the chicken dish came, there was only 6 pieces. I called to complained and ask to add additional 2 pieces to fit our 8 guest but they gave us half a tray full of chicken and delivered quickly. I highly recommend this place. Very good customer service even though they started off with the incorrect size of order

Excellent coffee shop with 10 two-top tables and calm vibe. It connects to a bookshop so the music in the café is quieter which is appreciated for those of us with laptops using the free wifi. Nice menu for breakfast and lunch(haven’t tried dinner). Superb quiche. The youthful staff doesn’t always make the best latte or cappuccino so not 5 stars yet but a welcome place to enjoy during the week after workouts(note: closed Mondays).

Found this place while perusing Unilocal looking for a new brunch option. We sat outside and Stephen was our server. He was friendly and attentive and didn’t need to write down anything which was impressive. The food was very good. Between us we had an omelet with breakfast potatoes, turkey and fontina sandwich and the Asian slaw. Everything tasted good. The sandwich was so fresh, especially the bread, and the slaw was delicious. I appreciate the half sandwich/soup and half sandwich/salad options, and that you can mix and match from every option on the large menu including specials. It is a great deal. We’ll definitely be back. A cool, laid back place. Great vibe.

Location is convenient for watchung train commuters a cute spot to wait for the train and grab some food. I called in an order to go, egg sandwich and 2 egg platter(egg whites, turkey sausage and potatoes) instead I get 2 eggs regular, turkey sausage and bacon. The sandwich seemed accurate. The wait at the counter was not too unbearable, but it was definitely a process. I thankfully ordered a chocolate chip muffin before heading out, since this was my first visit, I didn’t know what the food would be like and thought a backup would be smart. Well the server was nice enough to toss the muffin into the bag with my other items, I nicely asked for him to place it in a smaller bag since i didn’t want it to roll around. Its a small breakfast/brunch place inside a cute book store, its picturesque, They didn’t have the quiche, and a table of 4 who was having breakfast, looked moderately satisfied, the portion for the child was small, and they did order an additional order while I was there. Mind you they received their food when I arrived to pick up my order and were ordering an additional meal before I left. That should sum up how long I waited. Onto the food, eggs from the platter were salty and kind of chewy but edible. The bacon was uneaten, and the turkey sausage, regular frozen kind you would get at a supermarket. Nothing to brag about. The breakfast sandwich, my coworker seemed to enjoy and said it was tasty. All in all under $ 15 for it so not too bad pricewise. Will i return? Eh maybe for lunch items, that might be there strong suit.

Extremely impressed with the salad and ½ sandwich lunch I just finished. Great flavors, fresh ingredients and a great value for $ 10. I had the prosciutto and pear sandwich, which was very balanced and the flavors so refreshing and the lemon artichoke salad. The salad had a lot of tomatoes, olives, artichoke hearts, and shaved cheese and the lemon vinaigrette was very light. One of the best take-out lunches I’ve had in Montclair. It looks like a really cute place to eat-in also.

This is an excellent little café where you can get a light and healthy meal. I got a half-sandwich and salad which were both great. The mango iced tea also tasted good. The server was very nice. I wasn’t a huge fan of their cupcakes… I wonder if they are vegan and that would explain the texture. Otherwise, everything else was perfect!

The tiny elephant is a great place to come for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. My go to sandwich is the steak panini. And if I’m in a steak mood, which I always am, I also get the balsamic steak salad. Or I get the half sandwich and half salad and select those two. I don’t know what is it about that steak panini but it is one of the best steak paninis I’ve ever had. Also the first time I came here, I came with my best friend and we brought our two dogs. Our waiter was very nice and asked if we wanted a water bowl for our dogs! I love pet friendly places. I wish there were more in this area. I didn’t give this place 5 stars, because one when I came here with my boyfriend, we waited maybe 35 – 45 mins for our food.

Nicely appointed with a country white kitchen feel. Shares the space with a small book store. Servers were welcoming and attentive. Don’t expect a big restaurant it’s not. Outdoor seating in warm months. The food is excellent. Sandwich and salad type of fare. Breakfast available all day too, which I will return to try. I got half sandwich and salad combo. Turkey Fontina and BBQ salad were great I ate every morsel! The cupcake wasn’t exceptional… there are many cupcake specialty and bakery shops in Montclair. Returning for food, the warm service, and the café/kitchen vibe.

I’ll start by saying I will definitely be coming back to this café and giving it at least a few more chances. It is such a cute space and attached to the bookstore. We walked in on a Sunday morning and it smelled absolutely amazing! We sat outside because there were no seats inside. The menu has traditional brunch fare and many salads and sandwiches which all look good and many creative options. They were out of the special veggie hash with poached eggs that I was hoping to order, but that is forgivable. Husband got a salad and found it delicious. My main complaint was the service. We ordered cappuccinos which did not come until after we had finished our meal even though we reminded the server twice. When they finally arrived they were made with dairy milk instead of soy milk as we asked. The service in general was slow and being outside made it harder to grab the attention of our waiter. All the wait staff seemed very friendly so it could be that our waiter was new, as the people around us with different waiters did not seem to be having the same problem.(I am trying to think positively). As I said in the beginning, I will definitely try this place again because it is so cute and what we ordered was delicious. In general it has a nice vibe and I love that it is attached to the bookstore. Perfect for a lazy morning stroll and browsing some books while smelling delicious food and eating it, too. I sincerely hope we have a little better luck with the service next time and will definitely update my review.

This place is a hidden gem, inside of a quaint little bookstore. If I lived in the area I’d come here all the time! So far I’ve tried the roasted vegetable sandwich and the kale salad which were made so perfectly. The vegetables were roasted until soft but not mushy and the seasoning was just right– not too heavy and not too light. The kale salad was crisp and the dressing was light. I paired it with a panko crusted chicken cutlet which was a divine combination. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Perfect place for a lunch break with a friend or just a place to relax on the weekends. Oh and did I mention it’s in a bookstore? Can’t say enough good things about this place!

I was feigning some caffeine since I was getting a withdrawal headache. I got a Mocha Latte and a chocolate brownie. The brownie was amazing. The mocha latte was even better than Starbuck’s(hey, I like them). The staff was super friendly, even though they needed a cheat sheet to make the drinks(also seemed a bit frazzled/disorganized). But he apologized and was nice about it. Also, this was all less than $ 5!!! Definitely will return!

Some really good options. The ‘special’ grilled cheese of the day was great — mozzarella and pesto panni. The food service area is very, very small. Some might call it cozy. They do provide table service and waitstaff, unlike some very small boutique dining establishments. Overall a very nice option in a quaint area of Montclair.

My hubby went harder on these guys than I will. Four stars with one deduction for the lack of an espresso machine. I’ve gotta reiterate: to call yourself a café, I feel like an espresso machine is mandatory. I love everything else about this little spot – the atmosphere, the colors, the outdoor seating, the baked goods… But without the espresso machine, it’s just a bookshop with a percolator. The coffee was delicious, though, and they had almond and soy milk, and adorable little elephant shaped milk pourers. But I prefer espresso, cappuccinos, and lattes to regular ol’ drip coffee. We also shared a plum crumble muffin, which was divine – not too sweet, just enough crumble and plum inside. And big enough to share. Also, loved the outdoor seating. So quaint and with a nice view of the park across the street. I’ll wait to check back in again until they get an espresso machine, though.
