i wanted a buttered roll one day while i was in the grove laundry washing, which is two doors down, so i went. the sorriest damn thing i did! first of all the lady acted like she was bored ans dfoing me a favor to take my order, she was having a personal call while i was there, ome i got my roll i went to eat it it was staler than my ass! cost me $ 1.25 to start off with i also was looking for a soda but was told rthey didnt carry them. plus while i was thwere a customer brought back the very items she had walked out of the place no more than 10 mins prior complaining that when she went to eat her cake it was moldy the server, im not mentioning names told her that the items on the top shelf were a week old. i certainly didnt go back again and if u dont want to heave ur guts up stay away, only good thing is they have tables and chairs for those who do like the place. they can have it! i surely wont be back. ill take my chances and buy a donut at dunkin donutys where i know theyre baked fresh several times a day.

I used to love the Italian rolls here until the other day noticed baby cockroaches walking on top of the baked goods and not just one. Won’t be back.

I used to go here almost every morning for coffee. The sweet woman who works there weekdays is lovely and super friendly, and the coffee is actually great! Once we got some pastries and they, too, were very good. I believe I was told that their other location is much bigger and offers even more of a selection. This place certainly meets our needs.

Come for everything but the bread, I find they put more salt than other Italian bread. But go with the doughnuts and Danishes. Light dough lots of jelly and cream filling. Must have a cheese Danish, you will never go back to what you were eating before. The Claremont cheese cake is a must too. They do make ricotta cheese cake but you must order it. Bernadette is knowledgable so feel free to ask her for her advice on stuff

I went here this morning, a Sunday, to get Donuts for the family and they hit the spot. I ended up getting 6 donuts for the four of us and although we didn’t finish them all, we enjoyed them all. Boston Cream: You do not get short changed on any cream and the one we had was nice and fresh with chocolate glaze on top. It’s cream and chocolate, it should and was very tasty. Jelly Crumb: My favorite! Each bite had some jelly in it and the powder with the crumbs on top made it even better. There are other jelly donuts too which all looked good. I think there is even a peanut butter and jelly one… I say this is a must get. Coffee Roll: Good, but could have been better for sure. I didn’t think it had enough cinnamon/coffee in it. I would get it again though because I think it’s usually better. Glazes Twist: Typical glazed twist doughnut which was fresh and good. Glazed Raisin: Glad I went off the beaten path to try this one because I thought it was tasty without being too heavy or overpowering. It was nice a light which is sometimes hard to get in a doughnut. Crumb Cake: All of the donuts with crumbs on top seem to be great and this was good as well. A good one to round off the donuts and complete the plate. In addition, the service was quick and friendly and it only cost $ 5.90. The donuts are traditional and the bakery doesn’t try to do anything too special which is nice. I prefer this to the Montclair Bread Company and their donuts which seem to be overdone(«gourmet donuts») and extremely overpriced. The Bread Company has good donuts, but I prefer Marlboro and they have plenty of donuts that I have not tried and might in the future, but I am pretty happy with what I got today.

Used to live down the street from this bakery in the early 80s. I’d be there promptly at opening time every Saturday to get the cheese Danish right out of the oven. They were the best I ever had, and I’ve had way too many. I had the good fortune to go back in 2009, thinking there was no way the cheese Danish could still be the same. In fact we learned the shop had been sold since I lived there but the recipes had been passed on in the sale. I had been telling my wife about these cheese Danish and, after eating one, she said it surpassed the hype. The best cheese Danish. Period.

These are by far the most delicious hand made donuts I’ve ever had. But I am NOT an easy reviewer — I typically give 3 or 4 stars for places I really like — this place outdoes them. They have friendly staff and unique treats like donuts, cookies, canolies, turnovers, cinnamon buns, coffee cakes — you name it. But my ultimate favorite is the peanut butter and jelly donut with icing and cake crumbs on top. Plus — these are the least expensive treats I have yet to find in Montclair. COMEHERE.

My boyfriend and I discovered this hole-in-the-wall bakery while walking to dinner at Marzullo’s down the street. I grew up on mom-and-pop bakeries in Totowa and Wayne, and I greatly lament the fact that they are now hard to find. Unfortunately, Marlboro’s was closed when we passed by, but my boyfriend surprised me the next day with a pound box of cookies! The cookies ran from very good to great, and their rainbow cookies and sprinkle cookies were fantastic. And, my boyfriend said the lady who helped him was friendly and helpful. I’m looking forward to stopping in myself one day to see what other treats they have to offer. So glad I found a true bakery among all the overrated, over-priced baked good eateries that have seemingly taken over Montclair these days.

The BEST jelly crumb, boston crème donuts I’ve ever had anywhere, at any price.(These are REAL donuts btw, not the junk/commercial donuts you find in dunkin).Come to think of it, everything I’ve ever had here was excellent.

This is not your typical bougie Montclair bakery, it’s a quaint mom and pop shop, with a decent and scrumptious selection of freshly baked goods. Very affordable and the older women behind the counter is so sweet & adorable I just wanna give her a big ol hug. Try there lemon and coconut Danish, it’s out of this world :)

I love this bake shop. Great doughnuts(try the raspberry filled with the crumb topping !!. Really, really good rugalach when they make it(usually around passover). Good cakes, good pastries. Cookies not their strong suit but who cares? Eat a doughnut instead! The bakery is not fancy. It’s kind of a hole in the wall place on Grove Street. But the staff is friendly –especially Bernadette — and did I mention how great their doughnuts are?
