Went back to Jersey for a week and we stopped in here for brunch. Cute place on Church St; simple but great diner food. I had a wonderful taylor ham on a hard roll. Staff was friendly but the service was very slow. It was a weekday and it was fairly empty. Portions were a nice size too. I’d go back.

I found this place as a result of having a bad experience elsewhere. The customer service here was great. Customer service is such a big deal to me. That’s why I have given this diner 4 stars. The waitress was really patient and answered all of my questions. She even apologized for the bad experience I just walked away from at Raymond’s just doors away. The food was plentiful and decent. I was able to dine outside which added to my dining experience here. I would dine here again.

Ugh! I live so close to this place I was hoping it would be good. Been there many times and I have tried many different things but it’s just not good. It’s on Church Street. Pick another place.

Pleasant service and good, cheap food. Not as cool looking per-se as a lot of other NJ diners, but this is a solid offering in an area with a lot of great restaurants. I got a waffle with fruit, coffee, and eggs. All came out promptly and tasted great. Looking forward to sitting outside at a sidewalk table in the summer.

Food was great! Service was great! They are friendly and fast. I have been here a couple times and was fully satisfied on both occasions. I ordered the Western omelet each time.

Came here for a quick lunch with no knowledge of the place — left happy. Staff were friendly, service was fast, and food was tasty. The portions were HUGE, which in my mind is a good thing! I got a Greek platter and could barely finish it all. It seems to be less crowded than other options in the area. We were dreading waiting for lunch after seeing the crowds at some other places, but walked in and were seated right away. I can say 100% that this is not reflective of the food quality here, and I will definitely be back!

Clean restaurant, clean bathroom. Service is pleasant, not overly attentive without being neglectful. Chicken salad + bacon club sandwich was a big portion of well made food, good«chickeny» salad, not heavy on the mayo. Crisp fries accompanied the sandwich. Total price under 10. Very happy with my experience, I’ll be back.

This place has potential due to the location and being a diner. But the customer service or lack of isn’t helping. The wait staff are not attentive or friendly. Now let’s talk food; average food, short wait and good portion. My advice, train your staff better and add more flavor to the food. Way too many options in this area to settle on this diner. May give them another chance.

Great overall experience! Good quality food good presentation excellent value$$ great service we’ll definitely be back I’ve been back to Mannys once or twice a week now food and service still excellent and consistent. note to ownership your cashiers/managers seem very preoccupied with their cell phones like most American children. They seem disinterested in what’s going on in the business ??? the good news is your Waite staff more than make up for it and kudos to the kitchen as well. Lots of potential here I see a lot of pluses maybe they could hire a manager who takes an interest in the customers

Very well done diner food with no frills or gimmicks and reasonable prices for the area. Myself and 2 other diners enjoyed a small feast with beverages for brunch and the total bill came to $ 50.00. They offer a wide menu which is impressive, and vary in offering some healthier options(e.g., turkey sausage) that is a nice touch for a diverse group of eaters. Definitely would return, but better options may exist in Monclair

Yeah i want the tentacles but its $ 19! Byob is always a plus Clean and spacious outdoor seating not like the other sardine cans on bloomfield ave. Clean bathroom. Great service and great management. The only thing keeping this place in business is the location… Came here the other day for lunch with my gf. I had a Bbq cheeseburger and she had a steak quesadilla. Even under the Bbq sauce I could tell that the burger patty had been frozen, same thing with the fries. Absolutely no taste at all. My gf’s steak quesadilla came out pretty sloppy and greasy. I don’t know if they dice up the steak for there quesadillas but looking at it reminded me of hamburger helper. The guacamole had to much lime in it, and the coleslaw looked like it had been sitting out for too long. As far as the interior is concerned it was rather depressing. A few dirty tables that had been neglected to be wiped down and some air conditioning units dripping water on to the floor from the ceiling. If it wasn’t for the heavy flow of foot traffic on church street I really don’t think this place would be open. Stick to what you know, it’s hard to screw up breakfast and brunch. Perhaps consider switching to a smaller lunch and dinner menu… this way the food can come out the kitchen more consistent and you can keep everything fresh and not frozen. Stop pretending to be a real diner, real diners have huge menus and execute everything well.

garden patch panini(Grilled Zucchini, Eggplant, Peppers, Mushrooms& Mozzarella Cheese with Olive Oil Vinaigrette; this was alright; it was a huge sandwich with everything that you would want in a veggie panini however the execution of it was poor; there was a lack of flavor and there was no love in this food; they definitely just put this together without a second thought; this portion was definitely large and filling but I wouldn’t order it again) This place is not like your usual Jersey diner, which I associate with friendly faces and just a cozy atmosphere. I felt that the service was poor, servers were not happy at all, and definitely not welcoming. It’s in such a prime location on Church St and no business can seem to keep open at this particular lot on the street. They need to pick up their game if they want to stay open. But honestly, I think they should open a bar/lounge here instead. Montclair is in need of more bars!!!

It is not fair to compare Manny’s to Raymond’s. Just look at the price range for both places. Manny’s is true to the diner concept — a huge diversity of entrees at budget prices. Raymond’s may look like a diner but they don’t charge like a diner. Also, if a Jersey diner doesn’t have a gyro platter, then it’s not a real Jersey diner. Big difference between the two places. Judging Manny’s solely on its own merit, I find it to be a fair place to grab cheap food in an area of Montclair oversaturated with pricey restaurants. It is centrally located in the shopping district and has outdoor seating on nice days — a plus. The food was solid, typical diner quality. I had fried chicken & waffles — no complaints. My companion had a beef gyro platter which was average, but with generous portions of fries and a fresh greek salad. The service was nice but spotty. The host had to wave down our waitress a couple of times when he noticed that we still haven’t been served water after 5 minutes of waiting. So, I appreciate the host, but the waiters/waitresses do not seem consistently attentive. For its location, Manny’s is a reasonable place to eat if you are on a budget, or want a bigger meal(than its surrounding neighbors) for the price you pay.

I came here opening day, and I have returned a couple dozen times since then. The main problem since day one was the help. The waitresses are just in total disarray. Numerous times I’ve seen my waitress assigned to dishes or some other bizarre duty when she’s supposed to be taking care of my order. There’s an ambience of social awkwardness that permeates the place. Last night, I came with 3 friends for a bite to eat for the usual reasons that bring one here. It was 9:30 on a weekend. The visits from the waitress were increasingly disruptive. We were trying to have a conversation. There was a bizarre extraction of the oils condiments from our table followed by a ceremonial representation. The interruptions became more frequent. Ultimately we were made aware that the waitress as leaving her shift. She came over to ask us to settle the bill. I asked if they were closing. They were not. What followed was an unprecedented interaction in human awkwardness. I have to wonder why this place still does not make egg creams.

I’ve been a negative Nancy lately, and clearly I’m just adding to the roster of unimpressive experiences. I was ultimately unimpressed with Manny’s and some may say I am unfairly giving it a 2 star review since I’ve only been once. Now, I try not to hash out negatively on 1 try, but with that sentiment, the reason I am is because I mean I was really unimpressed with my meal and can’t imagine that it gets better. I ordered the buffalo grilled chicken salad. It was literally a meager little chicken breast in buffalo sauce on a bed of uncut romaine and a few blue cheese crumbles. That is it. $ 12 later. Put a little life into this salad, make me feel good about the decisions I’m making. I sampled a few of my friends fries and I’d say it’s safe to say they aren’t made from scratch. Ehhhhhh. Not a horrible option, but I’ve experienced better.

As a jersey native, diners have been a constant in my life… This is a good one! Just finished what may have been the best omelette I’ve had. Their food is well prepared. And I am always well taken care of at the counter. It is refreshing to have a viable breakfast contender in church st.
