Hair At Alicia’s

3.5 stars. Although I didn’t walk out of there with exactly what I asked for, my highlights are looking really good after washing out for a month or two – well-​blended, natural-​looking, matching my skin-​tone well, etc. (I still wish there was more blonde in there.) The staff was nice and everyone tired to be helpful.

I’m very picky when it comes to my hair and I’ve been changing hairdressers constantly for the past few years. Jackie took the time to listen and talk to me about exactly what I wanted. My hair is thin and straight and I always get stuck with too short/​too layered/​too soccer mom haircuts. Jackie didn’t take much off in terms of the length but she worked meticulously on creating subtle layers to give my hair volume and shape. I also liked that she started cutting my hair dry to see exactly what it would look like. I did get a fabulous shampoo and blow dry as well. Jackie put the finishing touches after and gave me plenty of tips on how to handle my hair. She was also very personable and fun to talk to. Needless to say, I’ll be coming back!

First time here. I was looking to do something a little more funky with my hair and had a picture of a style I liked. Alicia was wonderful and I am completely happy with my new style!
I read reviews about hair by Alicia’s on Unilocal and decided to give them a try. I was happy that they are open on a Sunday and drove right over.
I was welcomed by the front desk girl and Alicia took me right away. (She wanted to do the buzzed part of my hair first), then I was brought to the wash part of the salon and I must say that these were the most comfortable wash chairs I had ever sat on. They were more like beds and not the typical push forward chairs that are uncomfortable when you lean back. The man that washed my hair was very nice and kept asking me about the water temperature. After my hair was washed Alicia took me back to her chair where she cut my hair to perfection.
I will most definitely be back! If you need a new place for your hair definitely give this place a try!

I have been looking for a new home when it comes to hair salons, and finally found it here. Hair At Alicia’s did not disappoint. I went to Natalie and explained how unhappy I have been since I moved from Staten Island (8 years) and could not find a hair colorist who would listen to me. Natalie was amazing and listened to what I was looking for. Thank you so much for taking the time to get me to my beautiful color. Katy was an absolute gem as well. Thank you Natalie and Katy.

Alicia, the owner, returned my call a couple of weeks after my hair appointment. Once we spoke, she handled the situation as well as I could’ve hoped, took responsibility for the situation and offered to fix my hair.
It was a pleasure to sit in Alicia’s chair, easy conversation, very relaxed, it was clear she knew exactly what she was doing and I was pleased with the results. A very different experience overall than with the other stylist.
If you have an appointment with Alicia, you can be confident in your stylist.
I thought one of the nice things about the salon was that they didn’t do the whole junior/​senior/​master stylist hierarchy; but the truth of the matter is, there’s going to be a difference in ability, so it’s a gamble. The price I paid for my original hair service was not a reflection of that gamble. I’m saving you the gamble, try to get an appointment with Alicia if you decide to go here.

This place was great! I came in on a Sunday morning to get my hair styled for a wedding. I got a lovely shampoo and condition, where they really massaged my scalp, then a fantastic blowout and curl with the curling iron. Alicia herself styled my hair, and she really took her time and did exactly what I wanted. We chatted and it was just a really wonderful experience. Best of all? My hair lasted for days! Also the price is definitely less than a blowout bar, and the service is friendly and personal. And not many places are open Sundays either! Would recommend, 100%!

This place was conveniently located right on Bloomfield ave. I arrived way earlier than I should have but they were very accommodating. There was a decent space for me to wait. The reason I gave it for stars instead of five is because the place was hot and it made me feel uncomfortable. The stylist had great technique and she helped me make up my mind about my haircut which is very difficult to do. I left feeling very confident and feeling much more appealing than I did when I went in. Jackie (pardon a misspelling) didn’t waste any time and didnt try to upsell me any products. She even took me 10 minutes before my appointment time. I’d recommend them to a friend.

I have been a client of Ann Marie’s for the past two years. She is absolutely amazing at what she does. Today I felt the need to write a review because she went way above and beyond with my daughter and I and that should be recognized. I highly recommend her service!

I have been looking endlessly for a local salon that I can trust with my hair and finally found one. I had post pregnancy hair which was basically wild, thick, overgrown hair so I desperately needed a cut. I was paired with Kim L who listened closely to what kind of cut I was looking for. I also showed her a picture of what I wanted and she knew exactly what to do. She’s very friendly and easy to talk to.
The individual who washed my hair was great too. He gave a nice scalp massage as well. The chair was very comfortable and supported my neck.
The cut was $ 60 which was within the range I was expecting. The salon is modern and clean. I parked at a meter and was running out of time. They were nice enough to run out and refill my meter! That’s what I call customer service!

I love this place. Kim L. does a great job with my hair – I walk in as a beast and come out a beauty! Been to a few other salons in town – and I paid a lot more, was given a hard-​sell for products while getting my hair cut, was treated like I was doing *them* a favor… and the end result was not even as good. They also have the BEST seats for hair washing – no pinched nerves, just a relaxing experience. Always happy to come in and even happier when I leave. They also have great hours for us busy people.

Open on Mondays! Called for a same day appointment and got it. Jackie cut my long hair to about shoulder length and did a great job! The place was relaxing, the service was friendly and not at all pushy. Will definitely return.

Nick, does my hair. He is awesome! I get complicated at work and by strangers all 5he time. I love your hair! «Who is your stylist» you have to try him and I guarantee you will like him. Not only for his magic he performs on your hair but his personality too! He just doe not do your hair. He wants you to love it so you will feel good about yourself and you will come back again!

I went here about 2 weeks ago, and had Nick as a stylist. I have a busy work schedule and they agreed to take me about an hour before closing on last minute notice. I have long, thin hair so I was nervous about getting layers, but Nick was great and listened to exactly what I wanted. He spent time making sure to style it correctly with my hair type & length. He did an excellent job and I will definitely be coming back!

This was my first time at Hair At Alicia’s — it was such a wonderful experience! From the moment I walked in, everyone was really great and welcoming. Kim L. did my haircut and blow dry and I loved it! She took the time to listen to what I wanted and was so friendly. Will come back again.

Came to Hair At Alicia’s for an ombré. Scheduling an appointment was easy and the person on the other end of the phone was pleasant and patient as I asked a ton of questions.
I arrived and met Kim who is a color stylist. Because my hair is dark and I was getting an ombré, I was scared and concerned about how my hair would turn out. I showed a several photos of what I wanted and Kim let me know what to expect. After a few minutes, we came to an agreement and began the stripping and bleaching my hair.
After a few hours my hair successfully became lighter and I left content with my hair new color. After a few days, however, I began to notice less of an ombré so I called and booked another appointment. Because I expressed some concern and it was only a few days after my original appointment (I also dropped a pretty penny), the owner and Kim were extremely courteous and listened to what I wanted. They advised me that they would color correction my hair and give me more of a transition of hair color that I wanted, free of charge but that they wouldn’t guarantee my color should I fail to care for blonde/​bleached hair accordingly. I, of course, acknowledged and spent a few more hours with Kim on correcting my hair. This time around I left 110% satisfied.
After leaving the salon, most people noticed my ombré and complimented me more so than the first time around. The owner and staff at Alicia’s throughout my color experience were nice and understanding. Very happy I came to Hair At Alicia’s for my extreme hair makeover and will return in the spring for some lightening up!

Nick Rocks!
First time I went to this place was for hairstyle and makeup for my Baby Shower. Nick did my hairstyle and omg it was super awesome! This time I wanted to get a haircut but a completely different style, and Nick is sooo talented, he cut a style that looks great on my face, I feel super and my husband loved loved loved it (generally he never finds out I had a hair cut).
Just make sure you take an appointment little bit in advance.

See Kim T. She rocks. Friendly, laid back. Listens to what you want, precise, great at color, & gave me one of the best cuts I’ve had. She’s excellent at doing brows too.

Great experience here — and more importantly, walked out with a fantastic hair-​cut!
Staff was super friendly, called the day before to confirm the appt., greeted me as soon as I walked into the door.
The hair washing chairs were the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in. It’s the little things…
Nick did a great job. He identified a cowlick I had (who knew?!), which has been the bane of my bangs’ existence, and gave me a great cut. Every time I blow it out, I get a compliment on how great my hair looks.
Shampoo, cut (about an inch) and blowdry was $ 60.

MEN. Of course this place is women oriented, however, I tend to like going to salons more than barber shops to get a better style. When I was reading reviews to find a place, I noticed there weren’t any mens reviews on this page. I took my chances anyway and I was glad that I did. Nick did a marvelous job, guys!

Came here last week to get a simple haircut. Super friendly staff! I had called on a Tuesday to schedule for a Thursday appointment and Nicolette followed up with a phone call confirming the appointment on Wednesday. My hairstylist, Nick was super nice and did a great job. He double checked everything he was doing to my hair with me. Length of cut, length of layers, hair part, length of side bangs, everything.
Shampoo, trim for my long thin hair, and blowdry was $ 50.
I will definitely be back!
