Bobbi Brown Studio

First time in the store and glad I made the drive to try this studio location. It’s been quite a tiring process trying to find the right foundation to match my skin tone correctly. My mom uses Bobbi Brown’s products so I decided to finally give them a try. Tommie (I think that was his name), who greeted me immediately, was excellent in color-​matching me to the products I was interested in. He took his time in finding the right shade and really made me look perfect. Although I was only interested in finding a foundation, he completed my look with bronzer and blush, giving me a polished look. I wore it for the rest of the day to make sure it looked correct in different lighting. It stayed put and looked freshly done for hours. Although an expensive purchase, I’m very happy with the foundation stick I bought and the color he recommended for me. Please note that if you do need to make a return or exchange, you can only do so at this particular location and not at any of the department store counters. I’ll definitely be returning as I found the attention I was given was more than what I’ve experienced at other makeup counters. Thanks!

Every year I try to do something new for myself, since I am preparing to take family photos I thought it would be nice to get my make up professionaly done with lessons. I have seen the Bobbi Brown brand in stores but have never stop to ask questions because I don’t feel comfortable on display in public settings. I found this local store through searches and I can tell you I will be going back again. I called and was able to get an appointment on 12÷12÷15 with Paulette.
She was very patient, answered all my questions, and explained each step of the process. Since I have never really learn to apply make up Paulette was really working with a newby. She asked about the types of looks I wanted and was able to send me home with step by step to recreate the look at home. Although, it has been my second day on my own I have to say Paulette was right, I was able to do it on my own. So, when I am ready for a new look I will be back and asking for Paulette again. I hope to have a few of my friends in tow also.

Just in case you were wondering about the look I wanted. I wanted a natural look that enchanced my good points while brighten up my eyes (naturally dark under eyes) and hiding dark spots. This would be for daily and for work. The second look brings out my cheeks structure and color to the eyes and lips. But with these basic looks I feel comfortable with adding to it over time. Also, I decided to buy the Bobbi Brown product and I am very happy I did because this was the first brand that stayed on all day and not hard to remove at night.

First time coming here to get my make up done and I was extremely pleased! Everyone working here is so friendly and Amiranda (sp?), my makeup artist gave me exactly the look I was going for! She did brown/​gold tones for my eyes and highlighted my cheeks. You need to provide your own fake eyelashes and glue but they can do it for you! The interior is beautiful and well-​lit too– definitely check it out if you’re near the area!

I just attended a fundraising event here a few days ago. It was my first time at Bobbi Brown’s. I must say it was a very fun event. The space is bright and fun although a bit loud with music blaring in the background. But I will admit I couldn’t help but feel the female empowerment in the room. They had positive affirmations flashing on the screens and the vibe was just overall very positive. The make up artists were very pleasant and not at all snooty (which I was expecting). My make up artist made me feel very comfortable which is hard for me to do when I am barefaced. She took her time showing me different options for concealer, foundation, blush, and lipstick. She really took her time and did not rush to get to the next person waiting. I ended up buying a foundation stick and a powder. I will say I think the products are a bit expensive but the quality of the products is totally worth it. I am very happy with them.

I am stunned there aren’t more reviews for the Bobbi Brown Studio in Montclair.
I drove 1.5 hours to get there today despite having plenty of Bobbi Brown counters in my area. I have a drawer full of products that I don’t use. How can that be? Not sure how it happened — but I have been a fan of Bobbi Brown cosmetics since her days selling JUST LIPSTICKS out of Bergdorf Goodman. I had my makeup done by her (yes — by Bobbi herself) shortly after she developed a full line. Why am I so loyal? Her products and philosophy are high quality and span the test of time.
That said, the department store counters that bear her name and products are not staffed by Bobbi trained artists — so I made the trek to the studio.
Guerda spent over an hour with me. She chose product and colors that were actually very appropriate and flattering. She applied all with a steady yet cautious hand and taught me how to do the same. I begged her to edit my own Bobbi inventory and as heartbreaking as it was to toss out products — it was the the best. I have held onto these things for longer than their expiration date because they are EXPENSIVE and because I have this belief in the product and the person whose name is on them.
Bittersweet? Yes — but I came home with new products — much more suited to me and my lifestyle — and habits. I actually have LESS products than I had before yet all of them wearable.
Guerda’s work was so good — my son and husband loved the look (and they hate makeup on me).
I assure you — take the time to visit the study to work with Bobbi trained artists. And Bobbi — –if you are reading this take note:
1. please open studios across NYC and Long Island OR insist that department stores staff your counters with handpicked employees… those currently there do not serve your products and philosophy well.
2. while I know you have retained creative directorship over the line since Estee Lauder purchased your company, I do see a difference in the product quality and consistency albeit your products are far better than your competition.
3. Lastly — thank YOU for acknowledging older women (why not have an ad campaign with some of us 40−50−60 somethings who have the income to spare on your products rather than the 20−30s you focus on?). I digress — you do support older women in your books and you do encourage women to look like better version of themselves — rather than be something they are not. I love this!
Again — take a ride out to Montclair; I don’t think you will be disappointed. By the way, as good as Guerda was as an artist and teacher, I was fortunate enough to see two other applications/​lessons go on — and the others are all wonderfully talented as well.

My daughter just realized Bobbi Brown had a studio in Montclair and was really interested in seeing what it was all about. I made a make-​up lesson appointment for her and her friend as a birthday gift for her 14^th birthday. I ended up getting one myself, by Florenz. Everyone made my daughter so comfortable for her birthday make-​up session and Florenz was beyond spectacular! I’m nearly 40 and he taught me knew things. I purchased Bobbi’s make-​up brushes for my daughter as a gift, as she had sung their praises beforehand. I loved them so much, I went back to buy Bobbi’s brushes for myself, along with some of the make-​up I fell in love with. I haven’t worn make-​up the past 2 years, and Bobbi Brown’s make-​up and Florenz worked wonders on inspiring me to once again spend time on myself.
I love Bobbi Brown Studio and Florenz, or «Flo» as he calls himself. When my Mom drove up from SC, I even set up an appointment for her with Flo. With his talent as a make-​up artist and Bobbi Brown’s tools and make-​up, you will find a new you!
