Folk art at it’s finest, this mosaic covered home is thrown open to the public twice a year– as of 2011 it’s June 24 – 26 and sometime in August(check the website for details). I’ve had the luck to visit on a quieter day, since my mad-potter-mama is friends with the sweet couple who’ve made this amazing home. It’s free to walk around, and WELL worth your time. The closest comparison I can think of is. if John Waters had been the one to construct the amazing mosaic spots on South St. in Philly. It’s costly for artist Ricky to keep up, so spread the love and buy some of his art, jewelry, or other items. Last time I was there I bought some lovely wrought iron candlesticks that I treasure and use here in LA whenever I have a dinner party! Whether you’re from NYC, Philly or the Poconos, this is a great place to bring a picnic and make an amazing little daytrip for yourself! Wear some smart shoes(ie flats) and comfy artsy clothes.
