Food here was pretty good. I had the chili burger and it was delicious. The portions are pretty big, especially if you get fries as your side. Employees are super friendly. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area!

I eat at this place once a week on average. I’ve had the angry beast, grown up grilled cheese, and chicken California sandwich. All were delicious! Sometimes there is a long wait, so I recommend calling ahead if you are in a rush.

The burger and fries were okay, nothing extraordinary. It took over 20 minutes for my simple burger and fries order. Bad customer service and the place looks run down.

I’m rating this purely for the sandwich. I love sandwiches, and I believe in the idea that«the bread makes the sandwich» — perhaps not always, but a good majority of the time. Here at this place, they totally live this idea, at least with The Beast, the roast beef sandwich I ordered today. This was my first sandwich from Market Grill, and the sourdough bread was absolutely amazing. I can vouch for this; I know sourdough bread because I’m from San Francisco. This bread was Posturepedic soft and substantial, just the right volume of sour and butteriness, and soaks in the horseradish mayo spread on it and the rest of the fillings perfectly. Not to degrade the rest of the fillings! The roast beef was en pointe — not overly fatty and deliciously tender, and balanced by the ideal amount of fresh lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Yup, they’ve nailed the perfect sandwich, which is harder than you think, so I’ll be coming back for more.

I was looking up places nearby with decent ratings and I came across this place on Unilocal.Glad I did! I ordered the grown up grilled cheese with bacon with fries and ranch dip and it was all so good! I wish I wasn’t full so I keep trying more): can’t wait to come back! Kind service, pleasant environment, good food!

Well, there’s good reason why this place has such positive reviews. I came in for the Gem Club sandwich on a Saturday afternoon, and was immediately greeted by friendly people behind the counter. The bearded guy who took my order was really helpful and nice, and even walked around during my meal to check on the patrons dining in. The place is by no means fancy, but the service is Grade A! I felt like they really appreciate their customers. Now for the sandwich: it was SUBSTANTIAL and absolutely delicious. Really one of the more satisfying sandwiches I’ve had in awhile. The bread was delicious, with just the right crunch around the crust. Did I mention the sandwich was huge? I had a hard time opening my mouth wide enough to take that first bite! I especially like the turkey and cheddar they use. I chose the potato salad as my side, and it did not disappoint. It was actually really, really good-bold and flavorful. I appreciate when restaurants take the effort to prepare sides with the same amount of care as the main entrée. Don’t neglect the sides! Too many times, restaurants throw soggy fries, unflavorful«salads» or just whatever crap they have lying around and call them«sides» that come with the meal. Not here. Next time, I’m trying the fries. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here. I felt like the service was good, the food was excellent, and I’ll definitely return.(In fact, the next day I brought my husband, but unfortunately they were closed for the day. We’ll try again another weekend!)

We stopped by The Market Grill on our way home from hiking Chandry Flats Trail. You order at the counter and there are a few tables inside to sit at. There is a small parking lot available. The atmosphere is super casual and sort of divey. I ordered The Angry Beast $ 8.95:roast beef, swiss, grilled onions, spinach, roasted green chilies, horseradish mayo. The sandwich was delicious, but it was super greasy/heavy so I could only eat half. The food was good and a reasonable price. Would stop here again for a quick bite.

the other day i finally had time to come check out this place for lunch after countless recommendations from friends. i called ahead to order their popular Chicken California hot sandwich(on sourdough) because friends also told me they are super busy at lunch time. it was promptly ready when i arrived :) its a pretty big sandwich and comes with fries, potato salad or fruit. i think next time ill get the fries because the potato salad was kinda blah :/but the sandwich was sooo good. hefty portions of avocado, spinach, chicken and the sauce. the sauce really makes it! i had half for lunch and the other have a few hours later. cant wait to go back to try their roast beef sandwich!

What a gem! If you want something satisfying and not too heavy, The Market Grill is the perfect stop. The two of us came here for a light lunch and shared The Angry Beast. The sandwich was a great value at $ 8.95 +tax. We got sourdough as our bread and lemon mint potato salad as our side. The Angry Beast was a delicious hot sandwich with perfectly toasted bread and melty fillings. The lemon mint potato salad was surprisingly light and refreshing. The two together made for a very complete meal. Come on a nice breezy day and enjoy your sandwich at the park right across the street. I am already thinking about going next weekend since all of their sandwiches/burgers/hotdogs looked yummy!

If it wasn’t because the food here was so damn good, I probably would’ve given Market Grill a 3 star rating, just based on the fact that I waited exactly an hour for a sandwich and fries last Saturday afternoon. I came here in prime lunch time and there was more than 10 people waiting for their order, and even though the cashier told me it was gonna be a 30 minute wait, my patience was put to the test after I had to wait for them to get through not only their current customers waiting for their orders but also the phone orders that were put in for pickup as well. First of all, word of advice: Order by phone for pickup at least an hour ahead on weekends, which could save you a lot of time and stress. I ordered the famous«Angry Beast» which is very clear why its considered a top item. After all this ordeal, this hot delicious sandwich was in my belly and almost made me forget the frustration I was feeling after waiting that long for a freakin’ sandwich. The fries were perfectly seasoned and their heavenly homemade ranch dressing was a perfect combo to go along with it. Although at first sight, this looks like an ordinary«mom and pops» type of sandwich joint, the taste of these sandwiches are worthy of recognition. The oozing cheese on a scrumptious grilled bun and caramelized onions, garlic aoli and mouthwatering roast beef, was the right balance of salty and sweet to place Market Grill as one of my top sandwich places in Los Angeles. Ironically, the«Angry Beast» term reflected what I was feeling after almost giving up on this place, but I am very glad I didn’t. Please keep in mind for future reference to skip the wait and do a phone order on a busy day to avoid yourself the trouble.

This place would’ve gotten 3 stars if it weren’t so good and I came under different circumstances. Came here and ordered our food(me and two other friends) at 1:58 pm on a Friday according to our receipt. The place was pretty packed and they said it would take our sandwiches 15 – 20 minutes. so can someone explain to me why we got our food at 2:45?!? They’re lucky I went with friends I haven’t talked to in so long and we had so much to talk about or else I probably would have starved of boredom and hunger. I got the California Chicken sandwich on sourdough with fries and it was sooooo good. I don’t understand why it took so long but it was so delicious. The avocado looked so fresh and there was so many fries. I was only able to finish one half of the sandwich and some of the fries and then I got so full. Ask for ranch, goes well with everything. Gladly took my food home and gave it to my mom-it looked like a brand new meal. The ambiance is really friendly and the workers seemed to know everyone who came so I assume there are regulars. It was really delicious and it’s a hole in the wall place but I would def recommend it

Glad I finally got to try this place. Coworker took me to have my first Market Grill sandwich ever, and I was not disappointed. We had the angry beast which was such a delicious arty-cloggin’ hearty sandwich. Came with delicious crispy fries which were fried perfectly. You get a choice of standard or spicy. Choice of dipping sauces one of which was a spicy ketchup. I wish I remembered the other white one cus that one was really good. Soup of the day: chedder broccoli with beer. OMG this was one of the best variations of chedder broccoli I’ve ever had. The beer REALLY brings out a good flavor. Strawberry lemonade: homemade!!! This was perfect, not too sweet, not too sour. Good stuff. Noticed that the seating is extremely limited, and I hear during lunch hour the place is usually packed to the brim, but I went in on a good day I guess since we barely waited. Took our lunch to the park across the street and ate outside. Good place if the restaurant is packed :)

I go on a business trip to Monrovia every once in a while, and every time I come I make it a point to go here. This sandwich /burger /hot dog joint offers a staple to the sleepy little town of monrovia. Not only is the service good, but it’s really fast! Their burgers and sandwiches are on point. Haven’t had the luxury to eat a hotdog yet, but they always look great. Their turkey sandwich on rye bread is a must. They also have a bunch of other sandwiches that I could probably eat everyday and still be just as content. Do not let long lines fool you, this place plows through them very quickly, and their portions are also pretty generous. There is no way you will leave on an empty stomach, not even if you order a salad. I think the takeaway here is that this place has incredible value. The quality seems fair, the quantity is generous, and the price is pretty much affordable. Plus the staff is engaging and fun, but they work hard.

This place has so much potential for me but I felt it was a little too hyped up. I followed the recommendation of my fellow Unilocaled and got 3 things so I can have some variety. Yes. I was only eating by myself. Don’t judge! Haha So I got the California chicken salad, the Angry Beast and a chilli cheese fries. The California chicken salad was pretty good. It really hit the spot and help me balance the not so healthy chilli cheese fries, which weren’t as good as I’ve had at most other places. The chilli doesn’t match up to the Hats or my favorite place… Lucky Boys in Pasadena. In any case, the crispness was pretty spot on though. The angry beast gave me some mixed emotions. Was it good. Yes… and no. I think mine had a little too much grilled onions. It took away from the sandwich a bit and drowned out the flavor of the meat… which is always sad in my books. I would come back again and I’ll try other things because the the people who work here were so helpful and awesome.

Awesome super friendly staff! Even when they’re super busy they were absolutely friendly. Now the food: fries were delicious. I had a burger with avocado(a good portion of avocado) and grilled onions. The meat was pretty tasty, my onions were a little too grilled, a bit of a burnt taste but nothing too bad. Their portions are pretty generous and I will definitely come back. The place is pretty small and it gets pretty busy for lunch, so call ahead to place your order.

My friend talked to me about this sandwich place that was amazing. I’m always down to try something new. Interesting location, when you open the door you walk to the left side and that’s where The Market Grill is. Its a little shop with not that much seating but I haven’t been there when it was jammed pack. Never had an issue with eating there. Cool thing is if you know what you want, you can place a order over the phone and when you get there the food is all ready for you. I got the angry beast and the grown up grilled cheese with bacon and avocado. They both come with a side of french fries or salad and a pickle. I always go with the fries which has some seasoning. I get it with a side of ranch as well! Can never go wrong with the grilled cheese. I wasn’t really feeling the angry beast, since cause I don’t like horseradish. Other than that horseradish mayo it was a darn good sandwich. Definitely coming back whenever someone wants to come eat here!

Two words: Garlic Mayo. So good. I’ve been wanting to visit the Market Grill for a while now after hearing awesome reviews from friends about how delicious their sandwiches are. It’s a pretty small and quaint little neighborhood sandwich shop located in Downtown Monrovia across from a park. Parking was easy to find. It definitely had a real home-y feel to it, with a few tables inside that were decorated with teeny Christmas trees on top of the tables. Everyone there was very friendly knowing it was our first visit, walked us through the menu. If you know me, you should know my love for avocado. I put that ish on everything. I ordered the Chicken California sandwich which consisted of a delicious layer of garlic mayo. o-m-g amazing, spinach, tomatoes, avocado, cheese and chicken. It came with a pickle and I love pickles with my sandwiches too. I ordered it with a side of fruit and got some refreshing pineapple to finish off my meal with. We also got the cherry cheesecake to share for dessert and it was soooo good. The perfect amount of sweetness and tartness and the cheesecake crust was my favorite party: deliciously yummy and crumbly. Definitely will be coming back!

What a great find in Monrovia! The Market Grill sells hot & cold sandwiches, salads, soups, burgers, hot dogs and desserts. They also have a half soup and half sandwich combo option. They make everything homemmade and fresh and the employees are so friendly and welcoming! It shares a building next to a convenience store and has a few tables and chairs to sit inside. There’s a park right next to it so if there are no seats inside, you can sit by the park! Food: The sandwiches and burgers comes with a side of fries, minted lemon potato salad, seasonal fruits or chips. They also serve the sandwichs and burgers on white, multigrain wheat, rye or sourdough bread. My friend and I ordered the Gem-City Club which is a triple — decker, turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato sandwich with garlic mayo. The garlic mayo was so goooddddd. Everything meshed well together and it was so delicious! Good thing my friend and I shared because they give you A LOT of food. The sandwich plus tax came out to be $ 10.63. I had their tomato soup before and that was soooooooo good. You can tell they put in a lot of work and the quality of it was amazing. I loveeee their tomato soup. Unfortunately when I went this time, they didn’t have it as their soup of the day. When I went, it was corn chowder with bacon which still sounds good too! While we were eating, a guy name Alex walked around and asked us how our food was and if we needed anything and even chatted with some other customers. I thought that was very nice and it seemed like they really cared about the customers and wanted us to be satisfied. Parking: They have a parking lot next to the building or street parking! Parking shouldn’t be a problem. I can’t wait to come back here again! Love it!

After touring the«Tired Iron Works» automotive restoration shop with my car club, it was time for lunch. A list of dining spots was provided and this one sounded good, so I programmed the NAV to bring us here. It’s interesting that this little restaurant is located inside the small neighborhood Monrovia Market. «The Grill» is a small place too, just 6 tables and 2 window seats(stools). SERVICE: This is one BUSY place, or it was when we were there! You stand in line, order and pay at the counter. When it ready they call your name to pick it up. The guys behind the counter were nice, they even offered samples of the raspberry lemonade when I asked about it. As I said, they were super busy and I assume, a bit slow because it. From the time we ordered, until we sat down to eat, a full 30 minutes had passed. FOOD: Yes we waited 30 mins for our food, but I’ll tell you, the wait was worth it! Two of us ordered the«Angry Beast»(roast beef, swiss cheese, grilled onions, spinach, roasted green chiles, horseradish mayo — $ 8.95) on sourdough. It’s a great combo of flavors and fresh ingredients and all I can say is, this is one DAMNTASTYSANDWICH! Yuh-uumm! I also decided to upgrad the fries to chili cheese fries for $ 1.75 more. They were SUPER good too! But… with a large sandwich, plus the large portion of chili-fries, it was too much. I managed to eat it all, but I was completely STUFFED! My other friend ordered the Gem-City Club Sandwich(turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, garlic mayo — $ 9.75). It looked really good and he really enjoyed it, but with the fries and the addition of the soup he ordered, he took half of it home. Soup of the day OVERALL: A great little gem of a sandwich shop with some DAMN good sandwiches at very reasonable prices! I’ll definitely stop in again if I’m in the area! 4 stars ONLY because of the wait and limited seating.
