Steak ‘n Shake

Sure, the place can be gross in the restroom when it’s busy, and it’s usually ALWAYS busy with a long wait at the door. It’s great food and it’s priced right! I always get food from the $ 4 and under menu. My favorite is the garlic butter double cheeseburger… SOOO good!!! Though I recommend requesting they put the garlic butter (ask for extra) on the underside of the bun since their menu build is to lather the top of the bun with it so it’s greasy and messy… I like to eat clean. So delicious! French fries are great, I love the shoestring fries. I tried the flavor variations and honestly not impressed with any of them, which sucks cuz I was really hoping the parmesan garlic ones would be good. But, still a good deal. Coca-​Cola products with additional flavors (cherry, vanilla, etc.) to make it special so a definitely additional plus!

If you want to come by here for a late night bite, or something cheap, then this is the place for you! I had the Jamaican Jerk Double. I wanted something spicy, but the jerk sauce they used did not deliver. It tasted garlicky, but still expect spiciness. It’s an alright burger. Fries were perfectly crisp though. I also do commend the service though for being friendly & accommodating, especially since it was midnight.

We come here a lot and it’s still good to get diner food that still tastes like diner food. I love the shoe string fries and great shakes. It’s not gourmet but it’s still good food either for dinner or late dinner visits.

I ordered a taco salad and the amount of meat was pathetic! In my opinion, it needed three times more. Do not order this if you like meat.

Wow! These guys need a zero and a call to the health inspector. While waiting for our food, an employee was brushing (seemed odd) the freaking ceiling! Not directly in the kitchen but just adjacent to it. Gross. We should have left then. The waitress was completely inattentive and even came over and said, «do you need anything else?» and then turned around and walked away while my daughter was asking for a to-​go box. When we finally flagged her down, she brought a dirty box! Must have been the crud from the ceiling. Oh, almost forgot, they brought my wife the completely wrong order. Yuck on the whole experience.

Ah brings me back to going to the Original Steak N Shake while going to school in Bloomington-​Normal.
Good food for a good deal. I had the Royale Burger that had bacon, fried egg, cheese, and a double patty of the steakburger. My wife had the frisco burger.
Nothing beats this place for the price, prompt service, and excellent food especially after a night of drinking…
I wish they had one in Milwaukee…

Those burgers are getting smaller and smaller.
Fries are always cold at this store.

I love steak n’ shake! I go there at all hours, for all meals. (And I have been to all three in the area, and this is the best.) I adore their shakes, seasonal and regular, and their burgers are to die for (specifically the royal). I used to get chicken as a kid, and recently started going for breakfast (all you can eat pancakes). The staff is always very friendly, and I never shy away from the tip because I KNOW I will be back. It’s in a good location, though sometimes I feel it needs more parking/​seating because at lunch it can be a madhouse. I’ve only had two off experiences, and they were because of fellow customers; the situations were both quickly resolved by the manager (a screaming child, and a man rudely, constantly, shaking our table). They are very reasonably priced, and decently clean.

I and another person sat at the counter, and was greeted quickly then we watched as the guy on the grill jammed his plastic gloved hand in to his back popcket and dug around for a wad of keys, to give to another employee, then went ahead and touched 20 burgers, 15 pieces of cheese and three rows of buns with the same hand.
Who knows what the hell was on those keys, or where they have been?
very bad show for anyone wanting to eat there.
after all the of the meat came off, we waited for another ten minutes for our meals to show up.
19 minutes after we had our orders taken still no food.
where did all those burgers go ?
we both left hungry and disappointed,

Yes the marketing on tv works, and the wait staff are nice and friendly and prompt.
but man, thats it. I really wanted to like the place. too

Steak n’ Shake in Moline, Illinois is awesome. I have been eating there for over the last 12 years.
I have ALWAYS ordered the Frisco Melt Sandwich with two sides and have never ordered anything else EVER.
I love their shakes, the service, the fries with the melted cheese, and everything is just great. The berry berry cobbler and the pumpkin pie is awesome when they have it.
I once went in there while in my military uniform after being gone several years over in the middle-​east. The manager recognized me from before I went in the military, and when they brought me my bill they told me it had all been taken care of by the manager. It brought tears to my eyes.
I love this restaurant. I once had a scheme where I was going to have family go in there, order my Frisco Melt, freeze dry it somehow, and fedex or overnight it somehow to the middle-​east in the hopes I could somehow have one the food is that awesome.
