Taqueria Dos Compadres

$ 1 tacos are delicious. Such a authentic Mexican resturant, service is outstanding and the ambiance is so lively.

What can I say great customer service. Terrific food and a nice atmosphere and dollar tacos. Can’t beat it.

Decent food and service. I really like their chips and green salsa. The chicken fajitas plate is pretty big, I can never finish it — but it’s good. I have tried a few things and been back several times. I’ve never had a bad experience.

this is my wife and i’s favorite Mexican restaurant. I’d say we’re regulars. I either get a vegetarian burrito (which isn’t on menu. beans, rice, avocado, tomato and sometimes grilled veggies) or the burrito bowl made the same way. we eat there or get take out. depends. the service and friendly, they’re prompt with chips, salsa and guacamole. the drinks are good. the salsa is good but not great. the chips make up for it. somehow they’re quite tasty. like fresh and hot. about to go there again now! hah

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant to go to in Modesto! My favorite thing to get is a chicken enchilada and a tamale both with green sauce and rice and beans. BOMB. I like how comfortable the environment is when you eat there. I’ve read a few reviews about bad customer service but I found it so strange because I’ve always had great service when I’ve gone there, even when I start get complicated with an order or change my mind about something. I’ve never been disappointed with Dos Compadres and I highly doubt I ever will be.

Honestly, the food is decent but the service is horrible. I have worked in Restaurant business for over 10 years for a five star awarding restaurant in San Mateo to an every day dine in restaurant. My complaint to this establishment is to the management and staff. If you want your business to succeed in the food industry, you give what your customer wants without any power trip.
Since hearing about this place, we have eaten here 2 – 3 times a week for the last 6 months. Prior to eating here we went to El Rosal because they were so quick and friendly on a lunch hour but we wanted to try the food here. Grandma enjoys eating lunch with her grand kids after they get out of preschool so she spends at least $ 50 each time for lunch. We asked every time to sit in a booth where 3 adults and 4 children under the ages of 5 could fit. We ask to sit in the booth in the closed section which is 4 feet from the tables being served. Almost every time the staff did not want us to sit in the «Closed Section» at 12:30 pm for lunch, by the way, there should not be a «CLOSED SECTION» unless for the reserved in a restaurant when you have paying customers. However, like pulling teeth, they let us sit in the same spot most of the time.
This last visit was the last time we will go back. Our 3 kids ran to the same table we usually sit at as my sister and I walked to the table… one of the staff members greeted us on his way to serve his table. We sit there for 10 minutes with no service, so I go to ask a different server to help us and he states,” you need to wait to be seated” Seriously! Are we being punished. Lol, so we picked up our kids and went to El Rosal. I guess they are worried about their power trip «Closed Section» than they are about serving their paying customers.

Disappointed in the seating arrangement! We brought my son here last night to celebrate his14th birthday. When we walked in to the left there was a sign that said section closed (about half the restaurant) the young lady in front asked the number our party. There were six of us. She said well we dont have any booths for that many, we do have a raised table in the bar. First off… our kids are teenagers and that isthe last place i want them sitting in the «bar»! We asked if there any tables that were lower tables not in the «bar“she said no. As we are looking around at half of the freakin empty restuarant of lowered larger party tables located in the «closed section», i really wanted to leave and wouldve if it had been my birthday! So, since we didnt run out of the place our second choice was to wait for another party of six to leave we were told that they had finished eating already. they seemed to still be pretty settled as i observed… all the while half of the resturant with plenty of lower tables available sitting empty in a «closed section.» Anyway we took the tall table in the bar and watched as they ushered a party of 5 to the «closed section» about 20 mins after we sat down. The food wasnt good enough for us to return for that kind of treatment. I will stick to my la parilla and el rosal at least if their service is bad or seating sucks the food makes up for it… oh and by the way if we wouldve waited for the only low table that was ocuppied we would still be waiting because we left before they did!
Its too bad this resturant would rather have its customers with larger parties of teenagers sitting in uncomfortable tall tables and chairs in the «bar» then to seat us comfortably in the forbidden «closed section.» Only to parade a party of one less then ours into that «closed section» right front of our face. Unreal! Will never go back there!

Wanted to try something knew, decided to try this authentic Mexican place in town. Big disappointment. Their molcajete was just cheese dip with tough meat and raw bell pepper. Definitely not worth my $$$. Service was okay, the girls were kind but slow never got refills, took long for seating and check. Overall not impressed.

I have been out of the country for a year and the first thing I wanted to eat when I came back was of course, Mexican food. My dad brought me to Dos Compadres and it definitely did not disappoint. Chips and salsa were great! Must try the jalapeño salsa. We had the chicken fajita salad and it was very tasty. Will definitely come back!

The customer service was so horrible. Once we got seated the waiter was rude. She ignored our table so we sat for about 30 min waiting to order and we kept telling her that we were ready she walked by and ignored us. Then when we finally got our food the meat was burned and dried. Never again. And to make it worse. When we wanted our split tab. she mixed are tab up and refused to fix the problem. Besides its not really good mexican food

1^st timer. I like to wait to see if the restaurant will last before going. Took my 86 year old Mexican mother after church to lunch. She was surprised to see «Caldo de Res» on the menu and want to try it. Her grand mother from Batopilas, Chihuahua used to make it. Of course not not as good as my great grandma’s but a close 2^nd.
Service was excellent, very attentive, with a smile. Serving were enormous and tasty. Great football place. And they do have WIFI, and great «Caldo de Res».

I have been steadily coming to Dos Compadres over the past year. The food is satisfactory, I particularly like their menudo. The service is prompt and friendly. John, the bartender, is always on point and makes a mean margarita. A
big plus in my book is that the restrooms are always clean! If you haven’t already, visit Dos Compadres and ask John to serve you up one of his cocktails!

The food and service is ok. 8 of us went last night and I ordered flautas, there were only 3 tabs and my husband and I were the 2^nd ones to order but yet I got my food when everyone was half ways done eating and cold at that. Didn’t touch it and made them take it off my tab. And we had 2 chicks catering to us, guess they can’t handle big groups.

Walked in, another cpl waiting but they was upset because waiting long time and no one was seating them and ther was alot of open seats. We waited a bit and no one ever came around to even say ther is a wait or anything so we left, if they. Cant even seat you I can bet the service would be slow like snail

Came here on my Birthday. It was our second visit here. Well, the coffee and the deserts are good.
It’s a nice and clean Resturant with Booths. I only eat enchiladas, and the fried enchilada was burnt on one side, and it just wasn’t happening for me…
I’m very picky when it comes to enchiladas. We know when they are made with time, or just cooked fast, and put together. The guacamole was free, but a bit on the runny side. Though it comes with the meal! I wasn’t impressed on my second visit out.

Meh. I’ll leave it at that…

Came in for dinner and Mariachi music, service was a little at first. However after we sat at the bar we had a party of 8 with no reservations our plates were delivered fast.
I ordered the shrimp Diabla with side salad no rice or beans which was perfect! :))
All of our friends were very happy with their orders.

Best mexican food ever?! I really wouldn’t be able to tell.
But my taco salad was HUGE, delicious, packed with asada/​lettuce/​rice/​beans/​cheese/​sourcream/​guac/​picodegallo, and I heard no complaints from my brother about his super burrito. Plus, they were each like $ 6, pretty affordable. Booths were really comfortable to sit in, and the whole atmosphere was quite relaxing which allowed us to catch up while digesting. This is a place you wouldn’t mind spending a little more time in if you’re not in a hurry.
Service was excellent and appropriate. Our waitress was really great at bringing over chip/​soda refills without being too intrusive.
Belly and wallet are happy.
