Spicy Cuts Hair Salon

I come see Bahar every 12 weeks. She cuts, colors and highlights my hair. The style is beautiful and the highlights are so well done. They blend in very well with my natural color. I will keep coming back.

I have fine, thin hair and was looking for a new stylist. I read the Unilocal reviews for Spicy Cuts and decided to make an appt with Cleo. I brought in a picture and talked a bit about a couple of changes I preferred from what was in the picture. In the end, Cleo did a shorter version of the picture, that’s why I took off one star. With that said, I feel the haircut Cleo gave me was better than what was in the picture. It was very cute and better suited to the shape of my face. Not only that, she used a technique to cut some of my hair very short so that served to lift the surrounding hair, making my hair look like it had more body and was thicker. I’m very pleased with my haircut. I haven’t had compliments on my hair for a very long time, but I’ve rec’d several since Cleo cut it a week ago. I will be going back to Cleo for my next haircut!

Very happy that I stumbled upon this place on referral from another Mom in my Mom’s group. I posted a question and was given a list of various salons and stylists to choose from. I did my online searches for the salon’s websites and Unilocal reviews and decided to give this salon a try. I found decent reviews here on Unilocal for them and a complete pricing list on their website, which was very helpful. I’ve been to many salons, but was tired of paying high-​end prices at the fancier salons for average to mediocre work and/​or service.
So I decided to take the plunge and give this salon a call. I was fortunate to be able to get a same day appointment with Cleo, who was one of the names that were listed here on Unilocal with good reviews. She ended up giving me a nice wash, a great cut, strong highlights and a blow-​dry and style at a very reasonable price. Cleo chopped off approximately 6 — 8 inches all around adding in lots of layers along with some partial highlights. I am a pretty low-​maintenance kind of gal and love how this haircut is so low maintenance yet still looks pretty good no matter how much effort I put into it. That is how hair should be with a great cut! I walked away very pleased and will definitely be making my next appointment within a month or two again with Cleo!

Until yesterday, I had nothing but rave reviews for Bahar. She has cut my hair 3 times in a row with the same «Bob» haircut. When I returned for a 4^th visit yesterday, she started cutting away. I started getting nervous and mentioned that she seemed to be cutting off a lot more than usual. She laughed and continued cutting away. OMG I now have shorter hair than my husband. I burst out in tears when I saw the end results. My daughter is getting married in 2 months and I have no hair! Seriously, my hair is not an inch long all over except some odd wisps in front! Bahar was upset that I was upset but just kept telling me that my hair looked great and that I was just being hormonal. She is a sweet woman, I even still left her a huge tip just to hurry and get away from there, but I will never return. If she could not remember what style I was used to receiving, why the heck would she just start cutting without asking the customer?

Found Spicy Cuts from a Groupon ad but did not purchase it, however the salon honored the pricing special anyways. Cleo has cut, colored and styled my hair twice now and both times it has been phenomenal. Cleo actually took the time to explain the various colors I wanted and made suggestions on others, as well as helped me steer away from a wanted style that wouldn’t work with my hair texture.
I am heading back today for visit number 3 and don’t even mind the 30 minute drive when you are getting such great customer service and care. Only giving 4 stars as the salon does feel a little tired with the décor

Cleo was amazing! She did low lights and highlights, cut my hair and styled it. I love it. The owner Bahar Alavi was incredibly welcoming. I was starving and she even shared her sandwich. She went above and beyond. I have found a new and great place. Even used a Groupon with no problems at all.

I have been their customer for many years I love and just love Maryam as my hair stylist. She is fun and a professional who knows what she is doing ! I recommend them !

I have been a customer of Maryam’s for over 5 years. I can not say enough great things about her work. She is very talented, uses the latest styling techniques, always very personable, will accommodate your schedule each and every time and besides all that I have NEVER (nor my wife) been disappointed with my haircut. My husband purchased a groupon, knowing very well that a couple times we’ve already had bad experiences, and sure enough my instinct was correct! He called to make an appointment Friday, told the woman what I needed (cut & highlights), she said okay Saturday at 10:45. She arrived, told the owner it was a groupon, gave me the most disgusting look and said «come back later I don’t have time right now». Okay so we made an adjustment for 2:00. I showed up at 2:00, she never acknowledged my presence, greeted the woman that came in after me, then I heard her to the salon «can anyone take this woman»? I had the appointment with her and she was passing me around to whomever. I felt so uncomfortable that I left. Called her when I got home and she never let me speak and just rambled on about time and I should come back next week! This is the most disgusting, pathetic, and unfriendly business in South Orange County and will be sharing with everyone from Foothill Ranch to Newport Beach. This review will be posted on Unilocal as well. If they had negative stars it would have been –5.

I bought a Groupon and decided to give this place a try. I was so pleased. Bahar did my hair which is thin and fine. Bahar took the awful looking mess and made it into something quite beautiful! This girl knows hair! I love the color, the cut, all of it! I had a root lift, highlights and a cut. I am so pleased with the result! I would recommend Spicy Cuts and Bahar to anyone! Bahar instantly knew what to do to make my hair look great!

I got a hair cut in there more than two month ago and I still suffer from the consequences of this bad bad hair cut every day. The persian womam cut my hair to short, in a way that is the complete oppousite from delicate. My hair used to be straight and easy and now its a complete mess, looks weird, like a 16 years old girl that cut her own hair. BIG MISTAKE.

I have been a monthly customer since april’13 & the stylist are friendly and always
do my hair AS I WANT IT. The salon is very artistic, clean and has a nice fragrance,
not like other hairist shops. Prices are reasonable. I will be using this convenient
salon location ib the months to come.

This is a great salon. Well worth the drive from anywhere in OC. Ask for Dorothy. She’s been cutting my hair for years and is absolutely amazing at what she does. Great prices and atmosphere!!! I definitely recommend this salon.

I’ve been with Dorothy Eskander for almost 3 years now. She is wonderful! My hair looks great every single time. I have never had so many compliments on my cut & color. She takes her time and the color turns out so natural looking. I also get Keratin treatments done every 4 or 5 months. Dorothy has made my hair healthy again. She is definitely worth trying! This is an excellent salon to get your highlight, cut, style, and many more services. Recently I did get a Karaton treatment and a cut and i am telling you it was great in quality and price. I love the ower Bahar who is the most friendliest person ever and my hairstylist Shana who is very percise and professional. you should come and give them a try. A+++++++++++

I was over charged for a horrible job and now i just think u should have bought a freakin box of hair dye for 20 $ and it would have looked better. Disappointed. Very low staffed and never going back I would rather go to some lady in Santa Ana

I love spicy cuts! Their shop is open everyday and it’s very convenient! The stylists are knowledgable and good! I often go just for a blow dry! Awesome!

Yesterday was my second time at Spicy Cuts with Shana. She has done an amazing job with cutting, coloring and giving me high/​low lights. She listens to what I want and knows exactly how dark and light to dye my hair. I love her work, I am so happy and recommend anyone to visit Shana and the rest of the staff at Spicy Cuts in Mission Viejo. I shall be returning to Spicy Cuts to get my hair done for a wedding soon. I also want to mention how friendly everyone is in the shop, the girls there are all smiles and treat you as a family member. I love it!

Very very disappointed! I was attending a wedding at 4, made an up-​do appt at 2, another family member made one at same time. They only had one girl doing both our hair (even though there was other stylist there) the lady washed my hair and put me under the dryer for an hour! (I am 7mo pregnant!) I was red by the time I decided to leave the dryer, asked her why someone else couldn’t do my hair and she told me in broken English she would get to me by 3… I wouldn’t have made the wedding then! I ended getting charged for my hair wash, and ended up rushing back to the hotel to style my own hair (I had to call other family members to find styling tools) they are also way overpriced! What an awful experience :(
