First of all, thank you to Chad E for posting directions and location. It is/was tough to find. I pulled over in the Food Lion parking lot to read his review. Now the bad news — the building where they were is no longer occupied — there is a for sale sign in the window. I tried calling the number on the Unilocal listing to see if they had permanently closed or moved. «This number is no longer in service» — Geez! Really?! Facebook has an apology and a statement that says something like we are working hard to open up our new facility. I travelled a long way to Mint Hill for disappointment… Until I actually get to try their beer, I’ll leave it at 3 stars.

Small little hole in the wall behind the Food Lion in Mint Hill. About 5 or 6 tables. Had 4 beers on tap. Had to sit with one of the Brewers to drink my flight, but cool so I could rap with him about what they are doing. The beers were hit or miss. The sour Porter was excellent and the Chinese chicken Sriracha ale was pretty good too(I like spice). The Banamber and the DIPA were forgettable though. Cool peeps. Out of the way but glad I stopped in. Will follow what they do in the future. Think they will get better as the get more established. Support local!

It is awesome to have a brewery so nearby and convenient, even if it is a tad on the smallish size. If they continue to brew great beers they are going to outgrow their current digs, I only hope they will stick around the Mint Hill/Local area. So glad to have found this place!

Despite been a little hard to find, the Barking Duck brewery is a gem. The beer is great, the staff is friendly, and it is servicing a growing area of Charlotte. Check it out! You won’t be disappointed!

The newest brewery on the Charlotte scene has finally opened up in Mint Hill — but you may be hard-pressed to find it, even if you know their address. You can access their lot either by Fairview Rd(Highway 218) or Blair Rd(Highway 51) — the important part is to get into the Food Lion parking lot. Next, go around back. There is a low-slung brick building. Either around to the left of the Food Lion, or around to the right, in-between the car wash and the Food Lion building. Once you find the brick building, locate suite«C» and you’re there. It’s small, so don’t be too surprised — there are a couple of tables, a smallish bar and if the weather is nice, they may set up a pop-up tent in the parking lot too. The only real problem with the space is that if it’s a large crowd — as it was on opening night — then there isn’t much parking, and you could have to park at the Food Lion and walk, which can be a bit of a trek. Staff is very friendly, and will happily let you sample their three beers(currently three — there may be more on the way): Banamber, Big Belly Stout and Halfsies DIPA. They sell pints of each, and they will also be happy to fill your growler(available for purchase). For many of you, Mint Hill is a trek — but be sure and stop by to see the new addition to the Charlotte beer scene when you’re in the area! Just make sure you know their hours, as they are a little odd. Currently they are only open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4pm to 10pm and Saturdays 12pm to 10pm.
