Don’t come here if you want to hear ever again. No way you can have a conversation or phone call. Blaring country music right on.

Do you like calling the shots on what goes on your sammich? Are you tired of a boring sandwich from a c-squad skyway joint? Well… there is a place… a place called Which Wich :-) Yes, yes, yes… it’s a chain… but I like the concept and what’s available on the menu is broad… so there is likely something for everyone. Calling the shots means you grab a sandwich bag, red marker and go cray-cray on what you want. You can select anything you want for your sandwich… truly the way you want it. I go with the Grinder… Genoa Salami, Pepperoni and Capicola… how can you go wrong with that??? I also go with whatever is spicy as toppings… don’t judge me! Here’s a couple tips… * grab a bag/pen, make your choices while in line * go early or late, peak of lunch hour means you’ll wait upwards 30 minutes Here’s the deal, I’m a fan of the sammiches… but I can’t get past the pricing. After working up a big appetite during the day, I want a meal that keeps me full… which you can get here, but you pay the price. If you through chips and pop into the mix, you’ll be tossing over $ 15 for lunch(medium sandwich, chips, pop). You can get yourself a meal for $ 10 at the«other chain-sandwich places»…not sure if the higher premium is worth it… you be the judge :-)

I want to love this place, but I just can’t do it. First, the whole concept of writing your order on a bag is a little confusing at first and it feels disorganized. Second, the downtown location usually takes about 30 mins to get your order which isn’t very fast. To speed up the process, pick up a bag and a marker and fill in your order while you are waiting in line. Trust me on this one. Third, it’s just too expensive for a sub place and fourth, the food is good but not out of this world. On the plus side, they offer double punch Wednesdays which helps you fill up your punch card faster!

Ordering online with the Which Wich in the skyway downtown Minneapolis not only allowed me to save time and bypass the line for ordering, but I was delighted my order was ready right when I arrived! Our sandwiches were fresh and well prepared for take out. The ingredients were crisp and tasty and hot peppers and avocado well worth adding on!

This chain is one of my favorite sandwich places. I love how you can customize your sandwich via the bag. Draw on the back of the bag to keep track of where your sandwich is in the line to get made. The service is usually friendly and moves quickly. The line can get long during lunch, so plan accordingly or use their app/websitte to order ahead. Tip: Go on Wednesday for a double punch on your loyalty card. Also, the ice for the drinks is that small crunchy kind that is totally awesome and difficult to find. I don’t normally order drinks when I go pick up food, but I do at Which Wich.

If it weren’t for the space/ordering organization issues, this would totally be a 4.5 star review. These are no ordinary sandwiches. What makes a sandwich shop stand out from all the others? The ingredients. Quality breads, meats, vegetables, and condiments — and plenty of them. I really love that I can order caramelized onions, dijon mustard, avocado, and other items that you don’t always get at other places. In addition to the yummy food, I’ve found the service to be friendly and quick. They even have a staff member at the front door to help newcomers understand the ordering process. What I enjoy about the ordering process is that you check boxes on a paper bag to indicate your order instead of having to shout it over a glass partition to the preparers. This puts all of the choices and ingredients right in front of you so you don’t forget stuff and don’t feel rushed to complete the form. However, there isn’t an organized queue for people to fill out the bag forms and get into the order submission and payment line. This results in a bit of chaos while you get pushed and shoved around like a mosh pit during the busy lunch rush. Bottom line, these are some seriously tasty sandwiches that keep me and my co-workers coming back time and again. If they could find a better way to organize the tiny space and increase efficiency of ordering, this place would be a grand slam. Helpful Tip: Scribble something recognizable on the back of your ordering bag. This will allow you to follow your bag as it goes across the clothesline-type order queue so you know when to step up(really helpful when it’s too loud to hear them shout your name).

This place opened up a few weeks into my internship and I had never been to a Which Wich before. When we arrived, we got there around 11:45 and there was already a line out the door and they even had a division ready for it. You use their sandwich wrappers to choose all of the toppings and then you choose your main meat. I got the shrimp poboy with jalapenos, lettuce, a spicy remoulde sauce and other toppings. I thought that the service was quite quick and we were not waiting too long. I love their way of delivering the sandwiches on a sliding line and we took our sandwiches to go. I wouldn’t recommend eating there and next time I go, I want to try the ice cream as well. It is a chain but I would visit again!

My wife and I were on a walk through the Minneapolis Skyways, which are like a Habitrail through a large metropolis. I needed some food for lunch and I had never been to Which Which. We own some property in San Diego and they had opened a Which Which nearby and we always wanted to try it out, but never did. I was excited when they opened one up a year ago 2 blocks from my work in downtown Minneapolis. You enter by squeezing through a bunch of people and choose your bag for the meat style you want. I went to college, and it took me three tries to figure out how to order my sandwich. All fairness, if there were not 30 people around me, I could have probably figured it out by perusing the menu, but it is a serious cluster trying to figure out what to do to order. There is a lady at the front, I would have liked her to ask us if we have ever been there before, and if not, maybe walking us through the ordering process. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich on wheat, but it was cool that you could add all your cheeses, and veggies, and I added a buffalo sauce. I also added pickles, light mayo, mustard, etc. In the future, they have have a great vegetarian menu too. I have to try the black bean option. The plethora of different options is overwhelming, but super cool. After you choose your stuff with a crayon or pen, you have to weave yourself back out the establishment to wait in line to hand off this bag with your choices and pay your money. Since I knew I was heading back to my desk, I just got the 7 inch sandwich. Not horrible for $ 6.12 after tax. I waited about 7 minutes while they prepared and toasted my sandwich. Understandable for a place that was raking in about $ 100 every 5 minutes on my quick math. Good business plan! Whoever thought of this in this small area in the US Bank building, knew their customers. I picked up my sandwich and brought it back to my cubicle. Perfect amount of sauces, not too messy, but the overall buffalo flavor came through. I had hot peppers, perfect amount of spicy. The buffalo chicken meat was plentiful and didn’t leave you feeling ripped off. The red onions, actually looked like they were freshly cut! The toasted aspect of the sandwich made me really happy as well, it was a real 5 star sandwich, but the ordering process made it a 4 star place. Everyone that was helping the process run was great though. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would!

I had heard such good things about Which Wich and was excited to try it, but I was let down. It’s a perfectly fine sandwich, and they have shakes, which is really nice(I love malts/shakes), but the set up of this Which Wich was the first drawback. You waited in line to fill out your order on the bag. Then, once you do that, you have to fight against that line to go back out and then get in line to order/pay. Then, you get your sandwich, nad you have to fight the line again to leave the store. I was looking for another exit, but there obviously wasn’t one. Once I actually ate my sandwich, it reminded me a lot of Subway. Which is fine of course, but there are far superior sandwich places nearby(Erb’s and Gerb’s, Allie’s, Cosi, Potbelly’s to name a few). Definitely not a bad sandwich; I just won’t be fighting the crowds and going back.

I first read about Which Wich in May and it took me till October to get over there and try it. That is partially due to my love of eating outside in the summer in Downtown and that I didn’t exactly know where it was till a co-worker gave me the specifics on their skyway location. For those of you that are skyway challenged like myself(even after 2 years) it is in the US Bank Center near Asian Max, DQ and D. Brian’s. When I first walked in I was a little confused about where I was supposed to go. There was a line to my left and a line of people on my right standing at a counter. Luckily they had a friendly greeter and he explained the whole process to me. He was very nice and helpful! From there I got the bag for the type of meat I wanted, marked my sandwich, marked my fixings and got in line to pay. The cashier informed me I filled out my bag wrong, but how was I supposed to know? There were so many boxes! I got my sandwich to go and I am glad I did since they do not have many tables. The sandwich(buffalo chicken) was good, but nothing special. I would go back and give it another try. They have salads and shakes too!

Loved the concept. Customize everything on your sandwich. Quick service. Food quality is mediocre. You are paying a premium for the variety of customization options.

I used to live in a town with a Which Wich and was always sad that there was not one here in the twin cities. Well apparently they are here and in full force! I am a fan of choices, and of minimizing the risk of error. So here is which wich, which has tons of choices and a little bag for you to write down exactly what you want. I especially like that there is more than one vegetarian choice(subway, Jimmy John’s and Potbelly’s just have one, sad-face). I went with the black bean patty and it was really good. The veggies all tasted fresh and there was a fair amount of the various vegetables requested. I took the advice of my fellow Unilocalers and dodged the lunch rush. I headed over around 1 and was the only there. So it did not take too long to get my sandwich. Also i realized after handing over my bag I had forgotten to check the ‘toasted’ box, not to worry my sandwich artist asked if I wanted it toasted! Pro-tip #1: Save your bags! Next time you are headed over to Which Wich, no need to spend time checking the various boxes just walk right up and hand over your well-worn trusty bag(bonus you save the earth and make Al Gore smile). Also this is great for when you send someone to get your wich for you, no more worrying that your co-workers will somehow mess your lunch up! Pro-tip #2: If you work in an office where you and your co-workers make lunch runs for each other, grab a stack of bags from the various categories. Then there is no need to remember things or write down everyone’s orders, you just collect the bags and go!

Stopped here for lunch today on my way back to my office. A few coworkers had mentioned it so I thought I would give it a try. First of all, the staff was really nice and explained the process. Seems like a great concept but honestly the sandwich was just meh. I had the muffelata. The ham was shaved thin but it overpowered even the olives. Again it was ok. I would not go out of my way to come back but if I am over there, it sure beats D Brians

Whoever coined the interrogative name for this business was a genius. When you enter, you must answer that question. Time magazine once said that there were over 17,000 variations to a single cup of Starbucks coffee. There are probably at least 100,000 variations per sandwich at Which Wich, and multiply that by 30 sandwiches.(DISCLAIMER: These numbers are totally contrived. I’m just trying to say there are a lot of options) Whether you want it in a sandwich or a bowl, Which Wich will prepare whatever zany combination you come up with. Not only that, but since you have to write your name on the bag, my coworkers and I like to come up with creative fake names, forcing the workers to suddenly question the fundamentals of phonics. You need some way to break the monotony of an office work day. During lunchtime, this place gets PACKED so expect to wait 10 — 20 minutes for your wich. PROTIP: If you are impatient and constantly need to be updated on the progress of your ‘wich, draw or write something on the back. For example, if you see a Twitter hashtag on a bag, then that means I’m probably in the building.

Office workers are an interesting lot; we claim that we’re always so busy, but somehow find time to stand in line for 20 minutes for a make-your-own sandwich for lunch. In any case, there I was standing in line for Which Wich a few days after it opened. This restaurant takes the concept of «having it your way» and blows it up to several hundred permutations. It can get pretty overwhelming making the first decision: what type of meat, then how do you want it prepared? I’ve often gone for chicken, and so far I’ve tried Chicken Pesto and the Cordon Bleu. The fun really starts with how you build on those specialty sandwiches. The options can get pretty overwhelming actually, so take your time crafting that baby. I’d say the 7″ is more than enough; I imagine the 14″ busting your gut. I think the next time I order a which wich, though, I’m actually going to put less stuff on it; putting too much of the veggies and sauces can make it hard to distinguish the sandwich. I will definitely include these ingredients every time, though: caramelized onions(yum), some cheese(of course), and S&P(to taste). I think they should keep the skyway Which Wich open longer, though; I’d totally be up for buying on my way back home for dinner.

I decided to use a coupon to try out Which Wich, and I’m kinda glad I didn’t pay full price for my sandwich. The concept of writing your ingredients on the bag is preferable to shouting over glass to the«sandwich artists» at subway, and doesn’t end up being much work, contrary to what another reviewer seems to think. There is a wide variety of base sandwiches to choose from, and then several additional options, including different types of mustards/sauces and caramelized onions among the vegetables. Unfortunately, the sandwich I ordered was boring, even with added sauce and toppings. It was mainly bread, and even that was dullsville. They also managed to make it with the wrong type of cheese-this kinda renders«have it how you like it» pointless, right? I don’t think I need to go back anytime soon.

I was definitely excited to see a new lunch option in the US Bank building’s skyway. It’s nice to have a sandwich/salad option that’s not D. Brian’s or Subway(they get so old after a while, don’t they?). I waited in line with some coworkers for quite a while during the lunch rush… and then waited again to then get my food after I ordered. I thought the bag ordering system was cute, but there were almost too many options(and I typically order veggie sandwiches, so my options had already been narrowed from the get-go). My tomato/avocado sandwich was better than average(I added lettuce, pepper jack cheese, hot peppers and onions) but not mind-blowing — I’ll think I’ll add it into the«sometimes» portion of my lunch rotation, but it’s not really a «once-a-week» stop.

This Which Wich is pretty tiny but it’s pretty good. It’s nice to have another sandwich option downtown that doesn’t outright suck(looking at you, Subway!). I really don’t get why this place closes so early, though(2pm). Anyway, yeah, you can get your sandwich in so many different ways it boggles the mind. My friend had one of their ‘bowls’ and he liked it a lot. The veggies are fresher and there’s a greater variety than at most sandwich chains. There’s a greater variety of non-veggie items to apply as well, and the bread is tasty. As I decided which wich to get I couldn’t help but notice the guy at the end of the sandwich counter yelling out the names of the folks whose sandwiches were ready. I heard Tom Selleck, Michael Jordan, Peter Sellers, and others, so I couldn’t resist using a pseudonym as well. Both the employees and patrons seemed to be having fun with it. It’s cool that at Which Wich, you can mark up the bag with what you want and then rest easy while they make it, so you don’t have to stand there watching them put everything on then go ‘onions…onions, tomato…’

I get what they’re going for with this franchise, but what I can’t understand is why they thought it would work downtown, especially in the relatively small space they have. For those not initiated Which Wich has a unique method of ordering. When you enter you take a paper bag for bins of different categories(Italian, comfort, etc). Your bag has a checklist printed on it where you can pick the specific sandwich and the toppings you want on it. This contrivance is «fun» only in that it’s different. When you stop and think about it they’re just making you do the job that’s typically the staff’s. This is the kind of thing that would be fun to bring your young children to for lunch, not something that working adults downtown should be doing instead of just ordering a sandwich. The variety of the menu is a decent attraction; you can’t get a buffalo shrimp sandwich at Subway or Jimmy Johns. The price is a bit much, a medium size sandwich, chips, and a soda cost me about $ 12.50. If you go make sure to do so before 11:15, when I left today the line stretched back past the Starbucks next door. I’ll probably return someday, I work across the street and eventually I’ll get bored of my other usual spots, but I can’t give a strong recommendation to this place unless you love paperwork as much as you love sandwiches.
