I have visited The Loft twice now and was not disappointed either time. I will write about my most recent time here for the Infrasound New Year’s party. When first arriving at Bar Fly, it’s a bit confusing about which line you have to get into in order to get to The Loft. However, the doormen were helpful in getting my friend and I to the right place. There is a coat check at the entrance, but I think it’s worth it so you don’t freeze on the way to or from the venue. I think I ended up paying about $ 7 for two coats. Being from Georgia, I don’t know how much coat checks are usually supposed to cost, so I’ll let you be the judge of that. The Loft is very spacious and allows you to bring hoops, poi, etc. into the venue without any hassle. Even with the number of people there for New Year’s, there was still plenty of room to move around in. Any type of lights are allowed and there are free earplugs at the bar(note: I learned that all night clubs in Minneapolis are required to provide free earplugs, all you have to do is ask). I enjoyed the number of artists that were painting on site(and one even on stage!) at this event. Lots of vendors selling their crafts as well. Since there’s so much space on this top floor, there are a number of areas where you can relax away from the music and do something else for a bit. Fans were set up around the dance floor and the seating areas in case you got too hot. Oh, and speaking of seating areas, there were plenty! I always had a place to sit when I wanted it and I never had to get in somebody else’s space when finding some place to relax. Overall, I’ll definitely be coming back to The Loft. They seem to have good artists playing there frequently and I love their reasonable security policies.
